Happy October!!!

You all are right I am limping along with the computer. I managed to get a connection with Donnie's phone long enough to finally change the logo photo and then lost the connection. I am back on the Kindle.

It rained all day here. It sure feels like fall.

I hope you get to feeling better soon. I am a big believer in vitamin D. Did they prescribe it for you? I take 5000 units a day. You asked how long I am going to be on blood thinners. I don't know. I hope for not too long. I had a level check of it today. My poor fingers are soooo tired of being stuck.

The leaves are really turning here, and the temperatures are definitely fall.

Faith was so mad this afternoon....I brought her in at 5 as I wanted her in before the mosquitoes are out.............I turn on the fans I got for her yesterday so the mosquitoes don't bother her.

Pretty funny. She hates it. It's sure my thing, not hers....she has so much grass she might just get so fat she can't wear a saddle....my grass here is very rich.

Anyhow, I just went out a bit ago for barn check....she is fine. I took her fly mask off and "itched" her head and eyes so she likes me again................

We'll see what the morning brings...................prob just a lot of poop in her stall.........LOL.

Gads...............this is so fun for an old bag................

Happy October everyone. This is my favorite time of year. All the trees are changing colors and the air is cool and great for long walks. Everything has a touch of pumpkin flavor this time of year. yummmmmy

ARK: Gosh, I keep praying that your body will get itself straightened out and you can get back to doing what you love without worries of going back into the hospital. LOVE LOVE LOVE the photo at the top of the page. So cute I am stealing it.

CB: My gosh girlfriend...what on earth else can go wrong and delay your big move? When it rains it pours.

GRAYMARE: Faith will forgive you, just keep scratching her back and giving her those little treats called apples. LOL

Work has slowed down and I am back on my one day a week & Saturday. WHEW...so happy about that.
We picked all the brussel sprouts yesterday, a ton of green peppers (those plants just won't quit producing), a bunch of green tomatoes and today I am going to work on the sweet potatoes. And I found another watermelon that was hidden in the sweet potato vines. The garden was good to us this year.

Ace is pacing around, waiting for daylight so he can talk his morning walk. One good thing about not working so much, we can wait until daylight and don't run into any critters in the dark. The darn deer scare the pants off of me, in the dark with their snorting at the huge light I carry on our early morning walks. Found a possum hiding behind the old horse bathtub the other morning...eeewwwwww Heard a hoot owl hooting out in the woods as we strolled by...life in the country...what a GREAT place to be planted.

Ice is doing much better .... thanks ..... has had on and off again lameness this summer with no obvious cause. Frustrating. Costly!!!

Good Morning y'all, it is raining off and on here but we can use it. It is good to "see" you back with the "at home" bunch again Ark. Take care of your self please.
I had a feller come over last night and we agreed with him stacking some big round bales of hay for his cattle down the road. His barn is full of cattle and I am conveniently close by. I used to work with his mom a million years ago...he looks a lot like her...I did not tell him that as I did not want it to sound like he looked like a woman. lol
Hope that the fires out west are all under control and that the temps have dropped some, and really hope that you get the rain that you are all aching for.

Most of the fires are still burning...stilllots of smoke...can't see the mountains/foothills for all the smoke....

Carol, glad Ice is doing better.

ARK, once the blood is thinned, you can get off of them and just check it!

We are hoping all goes well too...trucks keepin' goin'...and horses stay healthy and us too!

did I break something....no one has posted since yesterday...hmmmmmm....was there an evacuation I didn't know about!

Well, we are hoping to get out of here today, but it won't be early, hubby has to finish up a few things first....so....maybe later today or early in the morning....we'll see. I am ready to do this...I love to travel, but have a feeling this trip will cure that love! for quite some time! LOL

Hi y'all! Glad to be back on here and I think just in time to wish CB a safe trip all the way to TX!!!

Now I've a lot of catching up to do, but just skimming back over a couple of weeks, ARK, I see you've had another scare and are still not out of the woods yet. But you thankfully seem to be on the mend - two steps forward, one step back... let's hope it's all forward from now on.

And CAROL - haven't read yet about the lameness problem, but hope that also gets diagnosed and sorted.

I've been away on holiday to Scotland and then France, had a great time, then back home here for a TREC competition, so I'll update y'all after I've caught up!

Jane the endurance rider brought her 3 year old Arabian, Albert, here today to get his first round pen lesson with Lori, my instructor. Albert did really well. It was fun watching them. Jane owns Toad.

We hauled Kazi to Va Tech to get her pedicure yesterday. I think she likes going. She gets snacks for being good and liked the alfalfa pellets I gave her.

We had an interesting evening. Donnie, Annie and I were watching Big Bang Theory and heard a big bang. A woman ran her car into the huge maple tree at the top of our driveway. That tree didn't jump out in front of her and the road is straight and dry, so we don't know why she swerved off the road to hit it. She called a friend to haul her probably totaled car, which didn't work too well. Tkey got it to our next door neighbor's driveway and couldn't move any further. Then all sorts of emergency vehicles showed up...cops, fire engines, wrecker, and an ambulance. It was a flashy sight for about hour. I suspect the lady is in trouble for trying to move her car before the police arrived. The ambulance left empty and the 2 1/2 foot thick maple is fine.

Not here Ark, but I bet Annette has some to play in. I was thinking of looking to see if I have an address for her anymore ... the snow made me think of her.... LOL

We had a really nice day yesterday, but it's raining and overcast today. Not close to being cold enough to snow here yet. I'm hoping to not have snow for another couple of months.

Ark, sorta sounds like the woman might have been engaging in some activity that rendered her less than proficient at driving. I wonder if she got to spend the night as a guest of the county.

YUP..I think maybe the "tree lady" was guilty of doing something illegal, but Hey, I may be jumping to conclusions. Glad no one was hurt though.

The colors are coming, just starting nicely up here, cooled down some kind of nice actually.
I am gearing up for the trip to Tn. Yup, it is that time again, for a while there I teetered on the fence of whether to go or not...but my inner child jumped up and down and stomped her feet to go...soooooo me and Tug (pup) will attempt another trip...at least this time I have someone to ride shotgun for me. That is something new and different, sure helps on the travelling expenses.

We are in Eloy AZ near Tuscon getting a tire fixed...the rim got bent and let all the air leak out of our new tire! NUTS! so 25 bucks later and we will hit the road again....dogs and horses are doing fine....we are tired tho!

Hi gang.......

CAROL, you can’t have a cold......we will all pray it right away.

I’m spending a lot of time with my new friends, 8 yr old, Ima Spitfire., and her sister Rollingwiththe Punches. Ima has severe ADHD, smarter than a genius, reads WAY beyond 8th grade already, and plays numbers in her head. Rolling is quiet, sad, has no real interest in horses, but is very smart, also. So. I was teaching Ima how to halter and lead her horse. That took all of 2 seconds. Her hands are magic and she just “gets it” right off. So now we’re out in a big 200 ft arena on the long side learning to pace and walk, halt, turn, walk, etc. That took another 2 seconds. So I thought I might burn up a bit of her energy and have her run the long side.......she did it 4X, yes, 4X and didn’t blink. She has a GREAT GREAT doner horse..........he’s WAY laid back and if she jumps, waves, turns a summersalt, he doesn’t flinch.

Now it’s Rolling’s turn. She does very well, also, just without the enthusiasm and clearly, no animation. I look up and Ima is doing a handstand with horse lead in her mouth. A real handstand. I told her she had to stand on her feet , not tumble down and try again. Hmmmmmm, says I. I then told her she had to stand very quiet and wait her turn. She replied “I am standing quiet”. Well, she was. Now what says I. I told her she had to stand on her feet next to her horse until her turn again. Rolling and I continue on and Rolling is doing VERY well. Ima says real loud Rolling needs to shave her armpits. Then she asks me if old ladies shave their armpits........HONESTLY, this kid is a RIOT.
I said “yes”..........Rolling is finishing her last turn around and Ima is doing jumping jax.
I told her she had to do some numbers for me until it was her turn. I told her she had to figure out how many legs we had at the barn...almost right off she said 48.....and she was right. We had 16 human legs and 32 horse legs...................so, my scheme flunked again. That didn’t take her 5 seconds. Oh boy, this is going to be so FUN.............

Now we have our horses groomed and put away and we’re measuring feed......no sense in me explaining that. I was telling her how to measure and she already had read the signs for the two horses we were working with............AND, teaching others so I thought that was grand.

In comes MS STICK TO THE RULES OLD BAG and tells Ima she’s not allowed to teach the others (the others were totally happy) that I am to teach that. I love old church ladies, they really have the spirit. They sit way back in the amen corner and walk around with long suffering and big bibles.....gimme a break. It’s hard to imagine getting to be this age and still not “getting it”

Anyhow, Ima & Rolling set our goals for today. Ima says I’m to learn about horses, she is going to learn about Sicilian donkeys, and Rolling is going to shave under her arms. In the meantime, I am also to practice my handstand as I’m not very good at them.

I think this afternoon Ima needs a horse that needs her attn...............heeeeeheeeeee.
.......Ima wants to be a “horsetrainer” so I told her this week we would start on that.............I could prob get a finished reining horse, put her up there and she could sit a perfect spin if I told her exactly what to do.............I’m LOVING this one..................all in God’s good time she will have the discipline to stand. Give me time.

She will also be socially appropriate, hold her tongue and thoughts to herself, and stand still...we have until May to do this..................Ima has such a happy spirit we just need to keep her on track................she inertly already knows horses.............it's just "there".......don't even ask me, it's just divine.
