            I made it here in spite of the date……………daughter called this morning and told me Eli was limping on L hind………………then called left message "April Fool"………………
Little runt is out running around like mad…………………

This morning when I woke up, the lake was covered with solid ice. But, the wind was blowing, and in fairly short order the cracks that popped open yesterday started widening. Now, at the end of the afternoon, the lake is nearly ice free. By the end of tomorrow it will be all gone. I've never seen the ice leave so fast.
After nearly 4 months of ice, it looks a little strange to see moving water. I like it!   

The winter bugs are leaving………………WOOHOO.

I don't know if this is possible but if it is could someone bump my post up to April on Santa and Smantha please. Want all foops and foopettes to see it, Thanks to whomever can do it.


Ellen, must mean spring is in the air! I think we jumped right into summer here!

ARK, not so nice daughter! LOL

GM, Sweet Pea has learned to climb the two steps to the bathroom and hubby had bought some TP, and left the bag lay on the landing, the pup found it and walked right into it and the ran forward and slid down the two steps head first....not much we could do under the circumstances as he did it to his self, BUT LAUGH! Had ya goin there a bit, huh? LOL...that pup has the sharpest dang teeth of any puppy I've ever had! I think he is hyperactive and a bit nuts thrown in there....He needs about five kids to play tug of war with him for hours! He wears us out, and then he crashes and looks like he is dead laying on his back and feet in the air and his eyes showing white only.....The wiener dog races are on Saturday at the park, thinking about going....

Happy Aprils Fool Day Y'all.....In 1985 I had my tubes tied and along came Jessi in January 1986....That was either the best or the worse April Fools Joke ever!         

Hey y'all, I heard from David (santa  ) and Sam today...they aren't doing so hot, he said he doesnt' want to post and cry in his beer, and I told him we wuv them and it was alright if he posted and cried in his beer, we have all been there needing some extra hugs and support,   so I hope he does post. Maybe if we all sent some cards or emails to them may help. Tough times for them ahead with medical issues. We all know tough times, but it makes my tough ones sound pretty small.

Am having puter problems...so ifn I disappear into the dark land, I will try to get back somehow....was looking at cell phones and tablets today, but its a lot of greek to me! I would like to change servers/cell company as Verizon doesn't do so good out here in the boonies...but they seem to have what I am looking for so far....but am still looking.

Had to get blood drawn today but the lab rats couldn't get me again     ...sigh....one of those days...and then we tried to get our AC working again in our Chevy one ton truck, but they have to put in a modern unit now and it runs to a 1000 dollars .....I love my old pickups but they do have their problems. We are thinking of putting the camper (11 foot) onto the Dodge which is a 3/4 ton with heavy duty springs, and the air works in it. Its a 98 so it wouldn't be a problem to get it recharged with the new stuff as 96 and newer has the new stuff. Older than that is a hit and mix and costly procedure! ouch!  

We were 4 degrees from setting a record high today...phew...93 degrees....we really need rain here and a bit cooler temps would be totally nice. I like the 70's but I can keep on dreaming...ahhh well, I do not like the brutal cold and snow either, so I guess I"ll take the heat and like it!

CB: That is terrible about Dave & Sam, I wondered why he hasn't sent me very many emails lately. I'll get a card out to them today.

Here is a little of what has been going on with my crazy family. Now you know why I get gray hair. LOL

Daughter Heather & her friend Melissa have a house cleaning company in Pittsburgh. So they were cleaning away at one of their customers, when the guys sister ran down stairs and told them she had an emergency and could she borrow their car so she could help her son, who her brother just took to get his drives license. Crazy Melissa gave her the keys to her car, meanwhile, both Heather and Melissa's purses were in the car. The woman drives away and a couple minutes later there is a knock at the door. Allegheny POLICE, we have a search warrant and are coming in. YIKES...the brother was arrested while driving the kid and charged with dealing drugs. Luckily they did explain that Heather & Melissa were just cleaning people so they allowed them to go after the woman brought back the car. Now did she run out with the drugs before the police showed up, using Melissa's car? Who knows...Guess they won't be cleaning that house any longer... They better do better background checks on the people they work for. They did get their purses back and checked them right away, everything was there, hope she didn't copy any account numbers. KIDS!!!!!!!!

Gosh, TRUDY, our society sure is in a he ll of a mess………………out here, a yard guy was mowing (simply doing his job) and some kids jumped in the yard, beat him unconscious, and then went in the house and beat an elderly couple in the house as they robbed it………….they did get caught and are currently awaiting trial……………being tried as adults.

Well,weatherman said that last night was the end of the cold nights, we are going to be at 90 degrees by the weekend, from winter right into summer, I was hoping for a longer spring to enjoy but oh well that's florida for you, still staying home but not because of weather, no money to go anywhere and with gas prices at $ 3.69 can't afford to drive very far, they say the prices will come down again, but you know they will take there sweet time about it, a few people are heading back up north but not as many as this time last year

ok, the weather tonight "if the low is 70 degrees tonight we will set a record for highest low ever for this day....hmmmm...that is a mouthful there!.

weinie dog races are postponed til the 26, we are spose to get rain...yesssssssss....

Went and hit the sales at Albertsons, buy 1 get 2 free, or buy 1 get 3 free....wow...glad they have those sales! Lov em.

Wow. Lots of excitement with your daughter's job. Tell her to come here, my house is a national disaster, but nothing exciting like that happens.....so far.....  

GRAYMARE:
Wow for you, too. Were those kids looking for drug money or what? Sheesh. I hope they lock them up until they have enough sense to act decently.
So....how's the baby?

SUNNY:
We were 75 degrees today! It will be a bit cooler over the weekend, but today was the best day of the year so far! Sunny, breeze, and just the right temps. I actually sweated a little.   

Ivan sweated more than I did. We had a wonderful ride with Areion and Lori on the New River Trail. We went right after lunch and had the trail practically to ourselves. We only saw two bikes, four or five hikers and a couple of leashed dogs. Not bad for 8 miles. Both horses did great!   A tiny spook for each horse, but other than that, perfect behavior. We even separated to where the horses couldn't see one another by several hundred yards and some curves in the trail to test how they'd be without each other, and there was no screaming, no spins or bolts. Ivan was hyper alert then, and of course that was when deer decided to get on the trail, but I didn't have any problems going forward and even further away from Areion. We went pretty far ahead, then waited several minutes for Areion and Lori to come along. Ivan was happy to see her. Both horses loaded right off the bat in each direction. We got home just before dark. This was the longest ride yet for Areion and she was mostly mellow the entire time.

Next time I see Lori, we will be going to S.C. for the big ride. She is coming along to cheer and help Donnie be my ground crew during the ride. (And my security blanket,   ) My next lesson will be on Friday after we get down there, then the ride is on Saturday morning. Areion isn't going on this trip.

Poor Donnie stayed home from work today, he has either a bad cold or some kind of flu. He is a sick puppy. He didn't go with Lori and me to the trail ride, he slept the afternoon away. You know he is sick when he actually naps all day. That doesn't happen often. He said half the people at work are out with this. If he gives it to me in time for my ride next week, I won't be a happy camper.....  

CB, we have Albertson's here, too…..I went twice last week and got the chicken breasts………….
we ate one package so far…………

Congrats ARK…..sounds like it is all going well with Ivan………..

Ark, yep its grocery store....some good buys sometimes, other wise I don't shop there, their prices r too high

I also hope Donnie doesn't give the yukkos to ya....hope he gets better soon

GM, what the heck gets into these kids....mine would have never done anything like that....they would have gone hungry first....but I guess sometimes folks get pushed just too far. ...or they are just downright stupid/mean. I am thankful we can keep us fed and the critters too...and keep up with the bills and enjoy life a bit. We'll never be rich, but at this point in life, I just want to enjoy and do new things and meet new people and have everyone of you here to tell my woes to, and laugh with me.

Big rain storm last night. Back to mucking out in mud...

Ark, I think it was about 2 years ago when she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and given about 6 months to live. She's been in and out of the hospital several times. Just a few weeks ago, she was honored in her church; I'm happy that she was able to attend that service and hear how they felt about her.

Thanks, ELLEN. I had no idea she was in such bad health. It is nice she got to be honored in her church like that.

Are you still in AZ or have you gone back home yet? It sounds like you need to be in AZ for awhile longer.


GRAYMARE:
What is Eli up to today? I bet he has grown several inches since your last photo.....hint, hint   

We have waves of rain trying to come thru. This morning I worked like crazy to get the barn and lots done before it rained so I could put the horses back up and keep them out of it. Then that wave of storms disappeared over the mountains and we didn't get a drop. Now I get to time my barn cleaning to avoid the next wave.    But the horses are dry! They don't really care, but I need to keep Kazi and the ponies out of the mud because of their feet conditions. Kazi's next appointment is Monday. I hope they are able to put her back in some shoes so we don't have to keep her in the barn so much. She doesn't appreciate it much. Right now she is wearing fabric and rubber booties with nice cushioning and is feeling pretty good.

Only one week until we go to S.C. for the 25 mile endurance ride!   I reserved two stalls thinking we'd take Areion or that Lori might want to take her own horse, but neither is going. I just called to see if we can use the stall ourselves if it rains.....and we can! So we may sleep next door to Ivan next Friday and Saturday.   I hope the weather is good, though.

When I was unloading Areion from the trailer on Wednesday after our trailride, she decided to grab one last bite of hay before leaving the trailer. She grabbed for it right about the time I bent over under the haynet to get to her and she grabbed my ponytail along with the mouth full of hay. She yanked my hair good!   She got a mouth full of hair and I got hair full of hay.

Oh my, check out that mini baby…………PRECIOUS!

I've been at the throttle today doing tractor work……….Eli just looks around……….

Here's a funny…..I fed lunch, horses ate, I went back out with a towel on my head……….when I got near Eli I took it off………He'll get friendly and secure again by Christmas……..  Some things are just really cute and funny.  So, ARK, I need to go get another 100 or so pics of him.  He has grown and is one big boned colt…………….

Well, I'm obviously late........hope youe day has been great.........HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROL!

Graymare, you just reminded me of a funny thing from years and years ago.  I'd gotten my first horse about a year before I went to college.  In that year, she always saw me in pants or shorts.  This took place back in the days when wearing dresses or skirts was what girls had to wear - like it or not.  So, I'd gone off to college in September and didn't get to go home until Thanksgiving.  I was still wearing a dress when I got out of the car and ran straight to the barn.  My mare snorted and blew like crazy until I started talking to her.  That dress thing just about blew her mind.

Ok, Here goes. New format for me and I'm not sure how I got here, but like the prodigal son, I am back.
      It was an awful shock to learn of Phyllis' passing. I am so sorry. It had been several months since I'd heard from her. We'd been keeping loosely in touch via email, as I do with a couple of others here, some better than others.
      So a wake up call. A reminder that while I still think of everybody here, I have been lousy at letting you know that. Seems like time slips by and I just keep doing stuff more slowly all the time.
       It was fun reading whe last several pages of posts and catching up on the puppies and foals born, -- Love the pictures -- rides taken and planned etc., and weather in different parts of the U.S> ;-)
       I, like you, Beech, have had to hang up my riding boots, so Sam and Swayze are just pets now. They don't seem to mind.
   Anyway, I just wanted to pop by and say Hi to you all. I hope I haven't been completely forgotten.

GRAYMARE:
Ivan used to run from me everytime I wore a different hat. He just knew I was the monster he had been expecting all along. Now he doesn't care what I wear, but doesn't trust other people who show up in different hats. Silly guy. Right now he is covered in mud and looks like a brown horse. None of the other horses are as dirty as he is. He seems to love a coating of mud. He doesn't know he will be getting a bath this coming week, he isn't going out of town looking like he does right now!

Yep, we need new Eli pix!
