Welcome to July!

We have had perfect weather the past few days, just like spring, but that is going to end tonight and the rain you have all been enduring will happen here all next week.  At least, that is what the weather guy said.  Rain for the Fourth, here. Sad

NANCY LEE and DONNA:

Happy Canada Day!!  wavy   How do you celebrate Canada's birthday?

Perfect day here so far:

Ranger Rex is just turning into a great companion...............bummer, no fish tho.........a few fly fishermen out but a fisherman's bust.

TRUDY, tell George I hate fireworks, also. It sounded like your garden is very productive this year.

BEECH, I LOVE it that you are going to learn the accordion. What a blast.
Whew, glad you found your book. As as the facilitator for that meeting it is a lucky thing. I'll bet the ocean shore is gorgeous right now.

No big news here.

Happy July 1st everyone.

PostSubject: Earthquake   Thu Jul 02, 2015 5:26 pm

Morning Foops,

I am just drinking my first coffee and looking out at the yellow/grey sky. We had a 3.8 earthquake yesterday afternoon about sixty miles from here, 13 kms off shore. It shook everything in the house including the house. I thought it was thunder first but it wasn't. First time that has happened for me and it was quite an eye opener. We NEVER get quakes! Nothing damaged though as it was off shore.

Had a stay home day yesterday Canada Day. I had the worst sore throat and didn't feel good at all, still have it but doesn't seem to be as bad. I have taken so much junk to keep it at bay or gone, hope it works. I leave home Sunday for four days to attend our years Grand Chapter for OES. I always look forward to getting away and seeing my Sisters and Brothers (in OES), especially the ones that you only see once a year. Hope this bug is gone by then.

Your holiday is coming up in two days. All enjoy it and stay safe. I have to run now and get to the barn. I usually go to the gym afterwards but today I am laying low, have a hair appointment this afternoon and that is as far as I am going.

Take care. I will try to read back posts after I get back from the barn.

Happy Canada Day, Donna. Sorry you aren't feeling well and hope you feel better FAST so you can enjoy your OES get together. I've never felt an earthquake, so I can imagine how unsettling that would be.

The weather here is looking more promising, warmer days and NO rain. YEA!!!

Morning Ellen,

It has been very different weather for us this spring. Cold, windy and rainy. After the last day of school, June 30th, it has been warm and sunny. Hope that the powers to be were just waiting for the kids to finish up, lol. Overcast and not looking great out there this a.m. but supposed to turn out lovely.

Cold seems to be much better. The throat is way better and my cough is not deep and hurting like it was. Tylenol cold and flu have been catching it for days now. Think they work, Surprised

Have a good day. I like the fact that I get a notification that there is an answer to my post in my mail. Reminds me to get over to the Over 50 site and read.

Hi DONNA. It's always great to see you here. Sure sorry about your cold tho.........hope it's much better again today.

Were had a great morning here having gone to a local pancake breakfast to kick off the holiday week end. Then we headed to the grocery early to get back out of town early. Now, it's POURING. Each morning is wonderful then a nice good downpour in the afternoon. Gosh, it's so like the old years. I hope this keeps up.

We're having a huge big party tomorrow after local parades, etc.........no fireworks, of course.

Everyone have a great 4th!

DONNA
Sure hope your cold is better. Summer colds are the worst. It is wonderful having news from the North again! Glad you are back!

GRAYMARE
That sure is a pretty picture of Rex! It looks so green there, not what I expect in AZ! Have fun tomorrow with the gang!

ELLEN and CB
We have your rain here. It has rained off and on all day. While messy, it has been kind of nice to have a cool day. Donnie is home and helped me take care of the barn and horses between rain showers, so it was almost like a vacation day to me. He has been working on the heat pump system for a few hours.

We took ThunderPuff in for his second kitten shots early this morning. Poor kitten has camped on my lap sleeping every chance he got afterward. He is feeling a little off. This evening he perked up a bit, long enough to slide into the half filled bathtub. He came zooming out of there, half drenched and leaving wet tracks. Poor kitty has to straighten out his fluff, he is fairly soggy.

Have a great 4th of July everyone.

It's raining here AGAIN. So our plans are up in the air. We were going to our son's for a cookout and then to the neighbors big weekend party, buttttttttt the weather has ruined yet another fun weekend. What a wet summer this has been. NO fireworks for George this weekend, he is still getting over last weekends fireworks and getting some sleep without nightmares.

Have fun and stay safe.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY to you all. It is a beautiful day here and only hope that it is for all of you too. Whatever the weather though I know you all will celebrate.

Have lots to do today. Nothing packed yet so that is the most important thing on my list. My friends Mother passed yesterday so I will make her something and go drop it off. I haven't heard when her funeral will be but know that I probably will be away. She has had cancer for a very long time (years) and now her fight is over.

Thanks for the welcome back folks. I never did forget you all but just got out of the habit of going to the site. Now with the notice in my mail that there is a post, I go directly there. You will get tired of seeing my mug on here, lol.

Ark, they had to put one of the barn kitties down on Thurs. I got to the barn in the a.m. and Austin was crying, laying on a fly sheet that was on the floor. His hind foot was twice as big as normal and he was full of blood. I carried him to the lounge and made a bed for him. Of course Cindy is away and her daughter was doing the barn. Poor Carly is 19, nursing student, she had to look after Austin and take him to the vet. They would have had to amputate his leg and before that give him IV fluids since he was so dehydrated to get him to the point of survival. Thousands of $$$$ and no guarantee that he would survive the surgery. They put him down. He was an orange tabby and the sweetest fellow, we all feel terrible. His wounds were full of maggots, no pulse in his leg, I could see that is pad was hanging off. We will never know what happened to him. Whatever it was happened between Tues and Thurs. as he was on my hay on Tues. a.m. Love the kitties. Three left in the barn and they are all friendly and lovable.

OK, have to get moving now. All have a good day, don't celebrate too much.

 Happy 4th of July!
One family of relatives were here yesterday, just for the day. One came to stay for a week. She and I will go to the next door neighbors' this afternoon. More relatives will arrive tomorrow or Monday.
THANKFULLY, the weather is MUCH better than it was for the whole month of June.
Big fireworks tonight from across the lake. Gotta load up on mosquito spray to sit out on the dock to watch.

We r alive, GM!...we had a tornado warning and sat in our shelter for over an hour...we had wind, sheets of rain and hail, but no touch downs. our road is washed out on the sides, mud everywhere, and lots of branches down here but driving around saw lots of wind damage and trees of all sizes down. reported 2 people got swept away in the flash flooding and all creeks and rivers overflowed their banks...quite a mess...but we r high and dry...ok a bit muddy! lol

Happy fourth of july y'all.

HAPPY 4th of July everyone! Big day here. Bell Ringing memorial over the mtn for veterans, then for the rest of the day food, food, food. LOL No fireworks here, obviously as so much of the west is on fire.

DONNA, hope you can get packed up and gone for your OES gathering.
You've always had fun at those so am glad you get to go. Very sorry about your friend's mom.

ARK, heavens, poor Thunderpuff. He is such a spark in your life as is Rex & horses are in mine. Just plain walking love. Fun, for sure. Hope he feels better by now. Sounds like you're having decent riding weather.

Where's RICKSTER? Sure hope he's off the road for the 4 day holiday.

Also, CB, where are you? I counted up and am ready for your puppies to arrive in early Aug. AND, the mini's will be gone.......that part I wonder about as your friend might ignore her part of the bargain again. But, mini's are fun so they will prob just be happier with your crowd anyhow.

TRUDY, boy, the weather has been odd everywhere this summer. Hope you can squeeze your picnic in between rains. That's our plan here.
We've had almost full moon here so later in the evening when it's dark the sky is as bright as a reading light. Campfire is wonderful.

I ordered a bumper sticker for the Ranger that says Ranger Rex Security on the top line, on the bottom line it says Mountain Pines Senior Center.
I can't wait til the gang notices it on the Ranger........... affraid Oh boy.

No other news. God bless. Prayers for ALL.

CB. Glad you're at least fine. On the weather map it looked awful in your area. I'm sure sorry for your big mess there. Just glad you made it through. I'm sure your roads will eventually get fixed but in the meantime
drive really safely.

Here, we have had afternoon rains which reduce our fire danger but does not eliminate it by any means. We're always ready to leave if we have to.

For reason unknown I couldn't get on to post, tried and tried. dawn was going to let ark know for some help....but finally this morning I got on. so thanks to sunni for trying to get me help....and I'm happy to be here once again.

GM, yes august poopies. my last litter period. I would like to foster litters tho to save pg moms or mom and litter as shelters do not have room for them. I will have a separate area for them from my doggies for safety sake but I at least will get my puppie fix! bluey will be spayed as soon as pups r weaned. I will have my one old male who I won't neuter as he is crypto..and has fathered some beautiful large litters with only one hangy dangly. bluey and sassy and shortstuff all spayed, oddie neutered, and panda neutered. splotch has gone to a friends farm of 40 acres where we can see him but where he can't eat my furniture. he ate 4 recliners an two full couches...just ripped them apart...intotiny pieces. he will be able to run the acreage and he willhave a nice part of barn to stay warm. some of these barns r nicer than my house! lol
We won't keep the minis if chris doesn't get them. with harry having his knee replacement I don't need extras to care for. all the young buck goats will be sold off now they r weaned, the lil chow hounds, we have advertised muley in a mule magazine for sale. she doent like me at all....??? usually the youngsters respond so well to me???
Hums and hugs to all in need.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, USA!!!
If you live on my lake, you will celebrate the 4th of July, like it or not. A family across the lake announced they were going to have big fireworks tonight. About 8:30 boats and pontoons started coming into the lake to anchor. By the time the show started there were at least 150 of them out there. How they managed to maneuver without hitting one another, I don't know; there were a LOT of them.
The crowd on the boats were in party mood, yelling, lighting the luminaries, generally having a good time. Then, about 9:30, we could just barely hear a girl with a beautiful voice singing the National Anthem. It was amazing how quickly all the people on the boats got quiet, spread over about half a mile. Right after that they started shooting them off and just stopped at 11:00. Two other houses were also shooting off fireworks, and it was like watching a tennis match, looking back and forth between them.
All in all, it was a pretty good show, in spite of the mosquito bites.

We went to a town of 1048 people and about half were at the free barbque and fireworks. there was a bluegrass band and a bouncy house and they held a 50/50 drawing so I bought 5 dollars worth of tickets and won 123 dollars....and the fireworks altho not the big boomy ones were really a very nice display. home by 1030 and fixed deep fried green beans one of our neighbors gave us.

Ellen, sounds like a good time!

Deep Fried Green Beans??????? New one on me.

I am not a deep frier person except for onion rings. Those I like with thin batter and greasy/crunchy.

Sounds like you two had a good day with lots of fireworks.

There are several restaurants around here that serve deep battered and fried green beans. They are good, but way over-priced. One place serves about 8 beans for about $8. No thanks, not for that price.

That's why I do my own with fresh green beans from the garden...much cheaper! they r good Donna, give them a try and usually its a lighter batter cover than say onion rings.

Well its back to work today! playtime is over...make hay while the grandson is here to help Harry. we tore up old carpeting and pad, trenched power and water lines, covered ditches, put in 3 frostfree faucettes, put in 15 fence posts, have to put fence up now to enlarge goat pen, and got some sight seeing in too...and some picnics and fireworks. will miss the kid when he goes. at the fireworks/bbq last night he hung out with teens like he lived there....he makes friends so easy.

Here's the tally from 6 weeks of trucking:

2 blown tires on truck/tractor, one of which left me stranded by side of road for over 3 hours. I NOW have new tires on tractor...2 were installed before I ever started and 8 put on this weekend.

1 blown tire on trailer that did some slight damage to a passing car. Thankfully damage was slight and nobody injured.
NOTE: I'm told that this is considered kinda / sorta like hitting a deer ... I am NOT at fault / NO FAULT. PLEASE don't linger around us big rigs when on the roadways...we are rolling on 18 potential bombs!!

2 weight tickets from being "out of balance". My TOTAL weight was good...just not balanced. Its a $$ game!!

I'm survving being back in the truck, but its scary seeing SO MUCH crazy driving and texting. I've been leaving on Sunday and getting home on Thursdays ... have that extra day (Friday) in case te unexpected delay pops up.

Our love to all,
Rick & Snoop

PS: The Phony Pony is being spoiled by Carol...handful of carrots each day along with sweet feed!!
