Well a nice weekend spent with kuds\grands. Celebrated our anniversary with a shrimp dinner...and cake. We also found the premonition spit.for our camper, and get this room for our horses too. What a nice anniversary present. We love it, and 250 a month. On outskirts of tiny town, 6 miles.from jessis. Yay.
Congrats, Rose.
Ark, you have my permission to be a slug....lol.
Weather is almost hot today....whew....took baby harper for stroller ride, was sweating!

"Cross's first show .  He got a fifth place for his first ever show.  Such a calm and good boy.  Felt so bad for him, trotting into the ring, towards the judge and he just froze.  The judge was built like the guy who used the whip so freely and on top of that was wearing a cowboy hat, like his abuser.  James encouraged him and Cross went on, but James could see his hesitancy, but he was a good boy!  I am a proud mommy! cheers

Robin showed Nikki's stallion, Prize, and they did extremely well, especially at a show where most folks had never seen a Gypsy Vanner horse, they took 3d against some beautiful horses.  Prize was very good for his second showing.  Both boys will show again on Nov 5th at a Marsh Tacky Show (SC's state horse)"

TRUDY:
Great display! I bet that was an emotional ceremony. You and George do great things..... wavy

ROSE:
Congrats on the first horse show!! They look wonderful!

CB:
Happy Anniversary!! Sounds like a yummy dinner! Drool I hope the house sells soon so all the strings will be taken care of. Maybe they will let you tie down the trailer if they know you are going to stick around for awhile.

It was a pretty, cool, and windy day here today. Fall has definitely arrived. We haven't had a frost yet, but the leaves are turning anyway, I guess the trees got tired of waiting on the frost. We brought our indoor plants indoors yesterday, just in case of frost. I hope the wind calms down before tomorrow, Areion and Ivan have a lesson tomorrow and windy weather brings out a little too much cheerfulness on their parts. Donnie and I had a nice day alone. It was nice seeing Annie, but she pretty much gets all the attention when she is here. She is happily back home now.

ARK, many, many thanks for posting the pics! I so love Cross and Inky and Lord willing, I'll be riding Cross by next Summer. I've told him that 14.2 or 3 is plenty tall enough but won't surprise me if he goes to 15hh. Prize is going to be added to Nikki's stallion band and Robin will be showing him at the Feathered Horse Championship in Florida in January, they do so well together. My boy Cross will be gelded soon as both drop. Stinky Inky will be gelded too, but he's got a lot of time before that.

CB, hopefully your travels still include coming this way? So happy about the spot for your camper and room for horses also! Perfect Anniversary gift and btw, Belated Happy Anniversary!

ELLEN, did you get to see the Dega race? I was sure pulling for Martin Truex, darn engine blew, but wasn't sad about Brad's when his blew and certainly wasn't pulling for Lagano!

TRUDY, many blessings for you, George and the Church for honoring our heros and the Gold Star Moms. They deserve so much respect. My heart will always hurt some for our Vietnam veterans, who never received the love and respect they deserved!

Hey ARK, did the wind die down enough to have an enjoyable lesson? Hope so!

Sure feels like fall now, chilly nights and warm days. Beautiful weather!ClappingHands

Rose, it won't be long until you'll be riding again. That's great!
I did see the Dega race. I wasn't too happy about the results either. I was pulling for Elliot or Larson, but neither of them were close. I'm not a big fan of the restricter plate races, and they've added all kinds of rules to the bumping. So far, I'm not convinced that those rules have done much for the safety.
It still amazes me that those guys can hit the wall at 200 mph and walk away from it.
Dale Jr. was commentating for a little while and I thought he did a really good job. When he's ready to quit driving, he'll probably be in the booth.

Ark, it's time consuming and tiring, but I'm sure you enjoy having Annie there for a little while. You can relax today with your lesson.

Trudy, that is a beautiful display.

Definitely a fall day here. Still bright and mostly clear, but significant wind blowing in from the north. More and more of the leaves are turning brown and being blown off the trees. At this rate, it's going to take a long time for all the leaves to be on the ground.

I love Cross laying in the grass, what a riot. I'm thrilled all is going well w your horses. Prayers for your insurance this week

CB, good news from you having settled on your RV site and a bonus of room for your horses, also.

ARK & ELLEN, sounds like fall has arrived. Enjoy the pretty colors.

My hay supply is set now so the barn is in order........OK, so now time to organize for the holidays............

God bless. Prayers for ALL.

ROSE
You are welcome! I do love seeing the pix of everyone's horses....and dogs, and cats, and trucks, and relatives, and stuff! Very Happy BTW: The ear gloves are cute! . ROFL
Have you seen the movie, "The Greening of Whitney Brown"? One of the main characters is a Gypsy Vanner horse. My trainer, Lori, did the stunts and riding for the young actress playing Whitney. Lori loved the mare and gelding who played the horse part. She said that even though the mare was barely trained, she accepted everything asked of her. Lori was very impressed with both horses' temperament.

ELLEN
Our leaves are about half gone despite no frost yet. We may get that tonight. I cut off all the remaining dahlias today in case it does frost.

GRAYMARE
It was still a little windy and cool today, but very sunny and pretty. Despite the wind, both Ivan and Areion were incredibly mellow! I rode Ivan and he did everything I wanted and was mellow and willing. As we were slow trotting by Lori, I asked her who was this horse I was riding? She laughed and said she was just thinking the same thing. Laughing Butter wouldn't have melt in his mouth....
Areion was not spooky at all. She picked up the correct lead when cantering on the first try. No butter melting in her mouth either, Laughing . Lori said it was Areion's best effort in a month. We are taking her to the last horse show of the year on Nov. 5th. Then Lori is going to try a hackamore on Areion for awhile and we are going to do more trail riding with her. She should enjoy a change of routine.

ELLEN
I did enjoy having Annie here, but she was ready to go home at the end of two weeks. She just isn't a farm girl....

The last vestige of summer is gone. The guys came to take out my pier and jet ski lift. They'll rest on shore until spring comes again.

Go Cubs! We need a baseball icon. There is one for basketball and a touchdown sign for football, but nothing for baseball. hysterical Actually, I'm not especially a baseball fan, but most people in this area are big time Cubs fans. Neither team has won a Series in more than 50 years. The Cubs haven't won since 1908.

Oh GM, that's Prize laying down, James trained him to do that months ago. Cross is super calm, but James only started training him when I agreed to buy him from the abuser and dumb wife. And I don't want my big boy to lay down until he knows all the basic stuff. There are some pics taken yesterday of both Cross and Prize being worked for the first time saddled. Cross was easy peasy, Prize not so much! Cross has been trying to please people and willing to do anything asked since he was a foal, never objected or spooked at anything, cept a man in a cowboy hat and a whip and his spook is simply to freeze in place, the kinda spook I can handle.

ARK, bet you were pleased as punch with Aerion and Ivan being so unexpectedly good kids. Lori was also I expect. It's amazing when they are even better than expected. I'm with her on the calmness and willingness of the Gypsys. And I knew little to nothing about the breed till a year ago. I've got to find that movie, would love to see it.

The trees I've still got (Dogwood and 1 pecan) have nearly lost all their leaves. And the temps have steady gone downhill, tonight is only supposed to be low 40's, maybe high 30's. Last show of this season will be November 5.

Insurance adjuster will be here in the morning to adjust Hurricane Matthew damage. Ya'll please send some good thoughts that tree removal and fence will be covered after my deductible ($1000). My wonderful neighbor cut up all the trees except the 2 trunks which are in 2 sections of fence. Will need a backhoe to get them out and that will pull out fence sections. My fence guy cannot give me a firm estimate till the wood is away from the fence. He will work with me, thankfully! Fingers and toes crossed!

All the current activities from here, bbl

CB, Doc McStuffins is a cute character. The next one will be Princess Sophia. When that one strikes her fancy, she'll be wearing only dresses with ruffles. Both cartoons are good for teaching toddlers things, like not being afraid to go to the doctor, or Sophia's good manners and behavior. Babysitting with two little girls has brought me up to date on a number of the kids' shows.
One time yesterday which I tried to open this site, I got a big white dialog box saying that they had seen I had malware and viruses on my computer. I immediately clicked off, and later was able to open it with no problems.
Keep in touch when you can.

Cute pix! He sure is a sweet looking little horse!

ELLEN and GRAYMARE:
I am not sure that there really is a virus. I have seen that warning posted, too, but from what it looked like to me, it is an advertisement for a virus protection program that is using scare tactics to get people to buy it.

CB:
I never heard of Doc MacStuffins either. I guess I haven't kept up with the Sesame Street crowd in a long time. When I was in high school, I watched a lot of Sesame Street because my younger sister, Annie, was the right age for it. I kind of got into Kermit the Frogl! Laughing
Have a safe trip!

Having lunch tomorrow with a horsey friend in Blacksburg. Even more fun, I get to drive the blue truck! wavy

Howdy everyone!

Guess it is time to check in…. I do read your messages but I never feel I have much to contribute so don’t post generally.

Here in Lindsay, we are experiencing the most glorious autumn. It has been warm and really colourful. We are enjoying it greatly. My mom is a fall colour fan, so we have taken her for good drives. We try to live in the moment with her as much as we can and enjoy things day to day, as her memory is getting worse.

I am working part time at Bulk Barn, which I enjoy, and was doing some recording, have to get back to finishing that project.

Jim is doing well, and our dog Bardi is too. She runs the home with a benevolent rule. Mom has very mild alzheimers and vascular dementia but does pretty well so far. She has been living with us for seven years already. My dad lost his wife to cancer a couple of months ago and he has been a challenge, with an"interesting" personality shall we say, but my brother is doing most of the slugging with him. I feel for both of them.

Over the last three years or so, I have been managing the Psoriatic Arthritis disease with some effective drugs. Very fortunate to have coverage through Jim’s pension and the Canadian heathcare so I can afford these drugs and specialists. So, while there is some pain, and exhaustion, it is minimized. Yay!

As for horses, I haven’t ridden in about 3 years. My reflexes aren’t good enough anymore, to deal with the problem horses which I was helping some friends with, so I had a few injuries. I would love to get on a nice horse and go for a hack though! and haven’t sold my saddles yet.

We are trying to get rid of a lot of stuff and get the house in sale-worthy condition, as we want to move to Kingston, two hours away on Lake Ontario at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. It is Mom’s favourite place and she oohs and ahs about her time spent there when she was young. Of course, it has changed but it is so historic that there is a lot there for her to enjoy still. We enjoy it very much too, and are looking forward to going.

Boy does it take a while to wade through all our stuff! And then there is Mom’s stuff … whew…

I created and headed up a project here for a Celebrate Diversity picnic this summer. It brought people from various backgrounds and religions together, and we had a great day, eating, trying some circle folk dances, Tai Chi, my friends and I provided some live music on the theme of unity in diversity, we had dignitaries and officials attend, and all in all it was a good turnout and results for the first of what we hope will be an annual event. We hope to have more performers of different types next year.

Life is pretty good, and you are all in my thoughts.

Nancy

HI NANCY!!! It's always good to see you here again! I'm glad to know that things are going well with you and your family, including Bardi. She's not a pup anymore.
PLEASE don't stay away so long. Only a few of us are still 'horsing around', so we chat about what's going on in our lives. Nothing exciting. I so value the internet friends ships created by these forums, and I don't want to lose them.

Oh Nancy..........SO great to hear from you and know you're alright.
I think of you often and the fun we had. Glad to hear Jim s fine, also. I LOVE our avatar pic as that is totally you. I have been wondering if you still sing and was glad to read you are still recording and jamming. You are really good. Boy. Moving. Now there's a job for you guys. I got worn out reading it. We're slowly moving as we clear out twice a year. Your unity in diversity festival
sounds like it went off really well. I'm betting next year will be bigger. The first is always hardest to organize. Keep writing as you can. Working in conjunction with all you do wears you out, I'm sure.

CB, safe travels.......

Love the pics ROSE........hope you got insurance help with your fence & tree mess.

ARK, glad you're still having fun w your lessons.

Some of you may have heard about a statue that was unveiled yesterday. I just heard bits and pieces through the day, so I looked it up. It is a true story about a horse named Reckless who served in the Korean War. She was amazing, and was every bit a Marine hero.
Wikipedia has a nice long article about how the Marines got her, what she did, and how/where she was retired. She was a MARINE.
You will love this story.

I read an article on Reckless Ellen. Very impressive mare!

Also, tried the link to the other that you posted, but couldn't view it here in Canada. Phhhttttt! However, there was another video that I saw about it. Funny. Didn't hear the 911 call though. Too bad.

Nancy, the cowboy called 911 and explained that he had roped a guy stealing a bicycle and had him tied to a tree. The operator thought she couldn't have heard that right and just said, "What?!" So he had to repeat it. The tone of voice of both of them is what made it funny to me.
We need more cowboys.

Too funny, Ellen. Wish I could have heard the call.

CB, thanks!

Report: I got a section of the basement cleaned. We have shelves lining 3 walls, and I had been procrastinating getting at that for some time. Ta- da! Two walls finally done. Taking some things to the Habitat for Humanity Restore tomorrow. Tomorrow the wall that is Mom's stuff. woopee! So glad to get at that.
