Oh ELLEN.  $81?  Wow.  Hmmmmm.  Hey, it was good the car & door are fine............even if your wallet is not.  I'm always amazed at what things cost.  Probably $80 for the call, $1 for the labor..........

The trip charge was $65, then another $16.25 for labor. This guy seems to be part of a business with several stores, so I'm sure he didn't get all the money. Probably had to pay a franchise fee.

ELLEN:
Well, at least you didn't bash in the garage door and hurt your new car. The trip fee is sure high, though. I can get vets from 16 miles away here, with all their equipment, and the trip fee is $40. Of course, that is only where the expense starts.... Rolling Eyes .
Once we had my Blazer repaired and repainted after a truck hit me, way back when. The first time I drove it after it was looking wonderful, I backed into a tree and dented the bumper. That dent stayed for the rest of its 19 years with us.

GRAYMARE:
Good on your eyes! I always hated picking out new frames. A mistake had to be lived with for quite awhile. I have so enjoyed being able to just pick out cheapo reading glasses at WalMart since I got the lens implants. What a miracle that procedure is, it still amazes me how well I can see these days. I recently passed the eye test at the DMV and no longer have the need for glasses noted on my license! cheers

CB:
How are you today?

We are going to get some snow over the next few days. I hope not much, but it could go either way. We picked up a load of pine sawdust yesterday for bedding and haven't gotten it to the barn yet because of the mud. Our bedding costs have dropped to about 10% of what it was with the pine pellets from the feed store. Now that we have figured out we need to be careful when we get the stuff to avoid oak sawdust, it has worked out well.

We have another cold night ahead. It is now 7°, going down to 4° with a serious windchill.
I went to another town to get a new knitting needle this afternoon. I had to park a short distance from the store and walk. It was COLD. The store and my car were both warm, so not a big deal. Sure wouldn't want to be outside for very long tonight.

Prayers for our country. What a mess we are in. ...What has happened to the country were we were safe to go on vacations and not worry about getting murdered? God help us..

Off to Lowe's today. George has a project percolating in his little head. Lookout...trouble ahead for me.

Starting to enjoy the Keurig, my fancy flavored coffee pods arrived yesterday, Today's flavor. Creme Brulee. YUMMMMM

A doctor that had been seeing an 80-year-old woman for most of her life finally retired.  At her next checkup, the new doctor told her to bring a list of all the medicines that had been prescribed for her.  As the doctor was looking through these his eyes grew wide as he realized Grandma had a prescription for birth control pills.  "Mrs. Smith, do you realize these are birth control pills?"  "Yes, they help me sleep at night."  "Mrs. Smith, I assure you there is absolutely nothing in these that could possibly help you sleep!"  She reached out and patted the young doctor's knee and said, "Yes, dear, I know that.  But every morning, I grind one up and mix it in the glass of orange juice that my 16-year-old Granddaughter drinks.  And believe me it definitely helps me sleep at night."  You gotta love Grandmas!

For sure..............cheers

Trudy, my cousins gave me a Keurig about 5 years ago. I don't drink coffee, but almost all of them do. It has really worked out well. They can have coffee whenever they want it. I use it for hot chocolate or tea now and then. Whenever I have company, they can have all the coffee they want.
I did learn that I need to run some water through it every now and then to keep it cleaned out. At one point, it hadn't been used for several months, and I thought it was broken. Cousin's wife used a paperclip and cleaned out the nozzle, and it works fine now. Since then, I run a cup of water through it about every week or so.

Drat! It's still COLD! Really COLD!

Prayers for all in bad and cold weather.........

Today I ran my backup program (ext hard drive) for my computer, ran scan for virus' and everything is in order now.  It wasn't hard at all, simply time consuming. Whew, now it's done for awhile.

We had a nice day.  Cloudy about 60......will be 36 tonight. It's clear so horses are out.

TL & I settled into good books...........

CB, do you have heat tapes wrapped around your water lines? I lived in a mobile home for a lot of years. I made sure to have those heat tapes in place every winter. They really help to keep lines from freezing, even when it stays below freezing for days or weeks at a time.
I just can't imagine being in Idaho with that super cold and snow. I hope your kids and grandkids will be okay.

Yep, that's a smart grandma! Laughing

It's cold here, too. 13 degrees right now, going down to 7 degrees tonight. My horses have their blankies on. Areion was thrilled to get hers, Ivan had to do his obligatory objection, then stood still without a halter or rope on him and let me put it on. I think he thinks he HAS to object for a couple of minutes, it's his job. Daisy wanted hers without any fuss. I don't blanket the ponies, they have such long thick hair. I have one for them, but have only used it on Zippy once. That was when he was young and Arkady kicked him out of the barn with freezing rain going on. It was the only time I ever saw him shiver.

We got 4 inches of snow last night and this morning. It was so quiet, no cars going down the road. The snow should be gone by the middle of the week, it will be in the 50s by Thursday. We just will be terrifically cold for the next couple of days. I guess it is winter. Very Happy

CB: I did have the DNA test done. Only have partial results. Have to wait to see the dentist on the 17th for the total results. Some type of weird bacteria living in my mouth. They put me on heavy duty antibiotics 4 times a day for 10 days and only 2 days into taking the antibiotics the bleeding when I brush stopped. Also added vitamin C and D and Activia to my diet. She wanted me to take that Omega Red also. I can't, I'm allergic to it, the periodontist thinks the Omega Red is what started the whole mess. We'll see on the 17 what the next step is. Prayers for your kids fighting the cold winter weather in ID.

Cold here too but very little snow. 12 degrees this morning. Ace & I have been taking shorter walks.

ELLEN: I had to clean my Keurig out with a paper clip already and I haven't used it very much. I'm getting the hang of it now and find we use a lot less bottled water with it than the normal coffee pot. Plus I drink a lot less coffee & throw away a lot less, which is probably a good thing. It takes awhile to teach this old dog new tricks.

GRAYMARE: What a smart grandma. Too bad they don't' have that type of birth control for grandsons. LOL

A kong is good, too, or a bong....

I just had a long hot bath, i do miss my tub in the camper life

Tomorrow we look at campers, one with a slide to have more room, stepping thru puppy dog legs and not stepping on heads is such a trip when u r half asleep....maybe a bit more room will be helpful.

Shopping for campers can be fun! There are so many different arrangements and amenities available now. A friend had one that was BIG and had 4 slides. It also had a fireplace and a washer and dryer, and lots of other toys.
