One troop has arrived. 9 more will come before nightfall. The lake is really busy today, as expected. It's gonna be a busy week, but fun. Smile

I'm here. Happy Fourth. Not much going on as it is hot.............nothing to do but swim & eat. Very Happy

Go figure...............for a state that has 20 forest fires, we have fireworks for sale. Does America not have any common sense? What has happened in 25 years?

It looks like rain in your area Ellen. Hope it clears.

Everybody have fun.

Gd bless.

Shoot, GM, our county has had that many fires and fireworks are still on! I know it will be a bad night...we got permission to mow around new place, dried cheat grass everywhere. Hoping that will keep it safe....
Close on the tenth unless it gets moved closer.  Everything is dry here....fireworks stands all over the place.

Ellen, have fun.

Everyone have a safe and fun filled 4th of july.

All the troops have arrived, all 11 of them.  Two campers are parked.  We have managed to park all the cars but two on my property.  Definitely cozy parking.  I am soooo grateful for wonderful neighbors.
The fireworks started about 10:00 (at dark) and lasted for about an hour and a half.  Probably at least 130 boats and pontoons parked to watch the show.  We sat on my deck for a front row seat. Since the fireworks are over the water, and we've had plenty of rain, there is no danger of fire. Just lots of noise
One 4 year old caught his very first fish, and then two more.  The 13 year old has already covered the whole area, fishing, bike riding, setting off some little firecrackers, and is already planning what else he can do in the next week.  Kayaking, small motor boating, swimming, fishing........
When the 3 year old got here, both he and the 4 year old went crazy to see each other.
I think there's going to be a lot of going crazy over the next week.   Laughing  hysterical

Let the chaos begin - and continue. There has been an on-going loud conversation about what we are going to eat this evening. Everybody has an idea, and of course, no two ideas are the same. Then add two little boys, ages 3 and 4 both talking as loudly as they can - CONSTANTLY. hysterical I just sit and watch and listen. Very Happy

The first full day ended with 2 sunburns (adults who badger their kids about sunscreen), 1 who drank too much on an empty stomach, 2 really tired little boys, and 7 of 11 over stuffed people who ate too many really good hamburgers.
They brought one of the inflatable "islands" with them. The thing is about 10 feet by 15 feet and has a shade canopy over part of it, along with a well for a cooler, and a little pool under the canopy. They got it blown up and sat in it most of the afternoon - thus the sunburns.
Little Misses Scarlett and Lilah came over to join the fun on the island.
In short, a good time was had by all.

Things weren't so good in AZ. We had one drowning, one fire due to fire works, and sev run away dogs due to fire works. Pool swimming is much different and requires someone to watch the
deep end at all times. Parents today in many cases are irresponsible. I wouldn't have a pool at all if we had little kids. I definitely have a generation gap. Take care of your kids ELLEN give them an extra hug.

The horses are great and grass is good and green.

We are overeating again today. What else is new?

GM, so sad to lose a child ....those parents must be heartbroken.
We will have fures tomorrow night here, im sure. Lots of dummies around who do not realuze how fast a fire can take off.
Heat wave here this week...ugh.  over 100....too early for these temps.
We are just staying cool and not doing much at all....walking the dogs at the park twice a day. They also have a fenced yard here at the kiddos house, but they prefer the park, and then foremost, they prefer napping under the a c.

Happy Fourth Eve!

Stay safe, cool, and have fun!

As nice as pools are, I think I would be paranoid about kids getting into it unsupervised. Sad about the kid, GRAYMARE.

The fireworks are going on here, too.  Shadow is afraid of gunshots, so you can imagine how he feels about fireworks.  Someone across the hill from us was shooting up full size fireworks basically over our heads last night.  Luckily, I had Shadow in the house by then.  The horses don't seem to mind the fireworks as much as the dog does.

It is nice that Donnie gets an extra day off.  I kind of like the holiday on Tuesday, his company closed down today.  That doesn't happen much.

I rode Lori's little Rocky Mtn horse in training,  Cashmere, yesterday afternoon.  We went with four geldings, which made for an occasionally interesting ride.  Cashmere did great when she was at the end of the line, but kicked out at the one behind her when she wasn't.  It was pretty hot, but the entire ride was in the shade of the trees, so was actually quite nice.   We went with Lori's mustang, two TBs, and a QH.    Pretty nice little mare to be just 3 years old.

HAPPY JULY 4TH......

Up early this morning. Getting things ready for the big parade in Watsontown. The Karen & Rick, the Gold Star mom and dad are riding with us in the parade. Our chapter is splitting up on this holiday so we can cover more than one parade.

Washed the Explorer yesterday morning and tucker her away in the garage, all pretty and clean. Gave Ace a outdoor shower too. He is soooooo funny he dashes around the yard like a wild dog, it's amazing he can still run so fast as a old fat dog. I think I was wetter than Ace by the time I was finished with his shower. We make a big game outta the shower. I have a water dog who does not like the water. LOL

Ace & George are still suffering with all the crazy neighbors and their fireworks. Every dang night someone has been setting them off. I'm not sure who comforts who in that situation. Ace is a great therapy dog for George and George is the protector of Ace from scary things that go boom. One more night (I hope it's only one more night).

Stay safe and have a wonderful holiday.

One family of three just left, and it is amazing to see how everybody else has just almost collapsed into doing nothing for a little while.
One cousin was trying to do a good deed and clean up some leaves that I should have done earlier this spring. Unfortunately, she stirred up a nest of German yellow jackets and got stung about 4 times. Another cousin was trying to help brush them off and he got stung twice. Both are okay, although she is currently sleeping off the Benedryl. I immediately called my bug guy who came right over and made life impossible for the nasty little critters. We'll burn the pile tomorrow. Lesson learned. I'll burn the darned leaves when I should next time.
Another cousin got my printer and computer to talk to each other. Another one cleaned out some vines from the steps for me.
I really have great cousins, and just couldn't do without them.

CB:
I hope you are feeling better.

ELLEN:
You do have the best cousins!  Sorry about the bees, they are nasty.  I got stung about 20 times once when I walked over a nest.  affraid   One sting would have been sufficient.

We took Ivan and Daisy to Va Tech today.  Daisy is having a mild laminitis attack that cannot be allowed to get worse.  She is now on a very strict diet.  Daisy doesn't diet well, so it will not be fun.  She has to lose about 200 pounds. Ivan also has to lose the 150 pounds he has packed on in the past two months of doing nothing.   He went from 874 pounds on April 8th to 1025 pounds today.   There are no hard keepers in my herd...

Ivan's leg is healing well from the kick Daisy gave him two months ago that caused a 'splint lesion' .  He has a new exercise regimen:

“Ivan’s” Exercise Protocol
Each increase in exercise level is based on the presumption that no lameness is noted at the previous exercise level:
Weeks 1-4 Rest (no work).
Weeks 4-8 Rest (no work).
Week 9 Introduce 5 minutes of ride-walking exercise every other day.
Week 10 Increase ride-walking to 10 minutes every other day.
Week 11 Increase ride-walking to 15 minutes every other day.
Week 12 Increase ride-walking to 20 minutes every other day.
Week 13 Add 5 minutes of trotting (interspersed with 20 minutes of walking). *Avoid trotting tight turns.
Week 14 Increase trotting to 10 minutes (interspersed with 20 minutes of walking). *Avoid trotting tight turns.
Week 15 Increase trotting to 15 minutes (interspersed with 20 minutes of walking). *Avoid trotting tight turns.
Week 16 Increase trotting to 20 minutes (interspersed with 20 minutes of walking). *Avoid trotting tight turns.
Week 17- Add 5 minutes of canter work/week to above…..

Basically this builds strength back into his bone, but pretty much kills any trail rides on him for the next couple of months..  We are at week 9 right now.   He has to be able to do at least 5 mph for 5 hours to do a 25 mile endurance ride.  That's not going to happen this fall.  Oh, well.   Areion is going to be kept busy for awhile.

We didn't do much of anything over the Fourth beside take care of animals, watch Spider-man movies and work on a few things around the house.  It was nice enough.

No news here. Dull actually. My new line is "I'm the one with the stroke". It's fun.
I especially like using it at re hab. I had completed a section of exercises. When they
checked their computers sure enough, I had. Brother. I will be glad when I'm done and get to the mountains.

ELLEN, bees are gone so that's over with. AND you can dry your clothes. So is today a jet ski day?

ARK, your schedule is too much. Ha ha.

CB, the closing is coming. And then back to TX? Holy jamole.

Question. What did happen to Amelia Earhart?

God bless.
