| TRUDY: Congrats on the airconditioner!! It has been so hot, I bet you love it. Our heatpump continues to live an easy life in boxes....The good news is, though, the heat has simmered down and we are in the 70s today. Happy Birthday, ACE !! ELLEN: Congrats on finishing your baby project! Pix would be nice..... CB: Are you still on the road? No moss on you! Stay safe! GRAYMARE: How are you feeling? Any after effects from your incident? Are you in the mountains yet? Donnie just got in from 'fluffing' the hay he cut on Sunday. He has it wind-rowed so the rain won't bother it quite so much. Did I mention we just had a nice thunderstorm on top of our hayfield? He will have to un-wind-row it and let it dry. Hopefully the weather guys will be kinder for the rest of this hay making session. It wasn't supposed to rain today. We are supposed to bale it tomorrow, I hope it doesn't get delayed. Donnie is being featured in a local magazine about making hay on a small acreage and the photographer is supposed to come tomorrow afternoon. Vote for some good hay weather, please! I just finished up a very nice lesson on Areion after riding Ivan for 20 therapeutic minutes. I rode Areion for over an hour. We worked on getting a nice headset while walking and trotting. She was so good! Then at the very last pattern, she suddenly wouldn't walk forward, only backward, and was visibly perturbed. I got off and found a smallish horsefly latched to her leg. I sprayed her with flyspray, again, and got back on and she was just fine. It was nice of her to not freak, just give me a big signal that all was not well. She is terrified of the huge horseflies, but this wasn't one of those. Anyway, we had a very calm and agreeable lesson! | |

| I'm grousing. I admit it. It's no wonder the post office is in a mess. I have a package that is coming from Grayslake, Illinois, which is the very next state to Indiana. Did my package come directly to Indiana? Of course not. It crossed Indiana AND Ohio to Pittsburgh, PA. Who knows where it will go next, probably to Michigan. So, it will have traveled at least 900 miles to go 200. The item is not that urgent, but it just seems ridiculous to haul things all over the country when they go right past their ultimate destination.
Ark, it's always nice when a lesson goes well, and even better to know that your horse won't freak out. She'll give you a chance to fix things for her.

| ELLEN They closed our regional mail distribution center in Roanoke. We used to get our mail the next day. Now it is shipped down to Greensboro, NC and takes almost a week to mail something next door. Progress.... ROSE: How are you feeling? How's the wrist and other assorted parts? I hope you are feeling better. Yesterday I went to give blood for the first time in 5 years. That illness I had in 2012 pretty much halted giving blood for some time. Anyway, I signed up to give blood again now that the doctors have signed off on it. So after getting there an hour early by accident, I waited and waited and finally got to fill out all the paperwork and promise I hadn't done anything naughty in recent years. Then a cute young vampire guy came to hook me up. He couldn't find a vein in my left arm and after poking several painful holes in my right arm, declared it wasn't going to happen. So I didn't give more than a squirt of blood yesterday. I will try again in a couple of months and make sure I am extremely hydrated and see if it works out better. Hopefully I will get a better vampire, too.... No good deed goes unpunished. | |

| Here I am. This was many years ago but on a very rural route we used to put "notes" for the postal matron to deliver on our route........ha, we would have card parties, coffee etc and she would put them in our box. We also ate home made baked goods. Good memories. Horses are in good shape and shine, lazy, & happy. I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in. Round is a shape. Actually, I've lost Weight, and exercise quite a bit (not at the level I was, but I'm still at it.) When it cools off I'll get back to horses. It's not raining here but the humidity is awful, around 65%. Our lawnmower bit the dust after 18 yrs. It just can't do the hard work. So, we're in the market. We think. Terry has to check it over. Wish us luck. God bless. | |

| Oh my gosh. Don't even get me started on the postal service. It has gone down hill since they had the bright idea of letting the older employees retire and down sized the post offices. I was there yesterday and Bonnie asked me to come back to work for her. Her replacement can't do a thing except sell stamps. What a mess. Bonnie had to go in on her vacation and help him. Do not depend on the 3 day Priority shipping, it's not a priority any more. It's we might get it there in 3 days if we are really lucky but don't count on it. | |

| It is so much fun to see a guy working at what he loves best. Travis is working on a little bitty OLD (75 year old) half-horse outboard motor and has it running as smooth as it ever did. Probably better. It makes him happy to get something like that running well again. At work, he frequently works on outboard motors that are 250 or 300 horsepower. The inboards are big V-8s. He works on motors all day at work, and after hours works on old ones. | |

| ATTENTION: LOL Today we had a road rage shooting in PHX. Both women. What the hell is going on in America? I don't know details, I can't believe how society is today. It wasn't in my area but I'm amazed.
On a good note the twins next door wondered if they could clean my yard. LMAO, the one said he knew I'm old now and said "you don't look sick". I said "I'm not". The other said "you can clean your own yard then"...................They were being nice not obnoxious. Then one said to the other "our gramma in Utah is a lot worse off". LOL. She's fine, too.
Kids are SO funny.
God bless.

| Good doggies, CB! My big ferocious dog just about knocked over our mail lady yesterday while greeting her. He jumped up and had his paws on her shoulders. I think he would lick a stranger to death. Shadow doesn't do much wrong, but that was a big no-no. After I yelled at him, he walked off with the mail lady and would have jumped in the truck with her. Today we put up 110 bales of hay by ourselves. We are tired. We got done after dark, but all the hay is under shelter, the barn was clean and the horses fed and tucked into bed. We have one last field to do, the upper one, and then we will probably be done for the year. Unless the lower field grows like crazy and we get perfect weather, then we may do a third cutting down there. The upper field is the winter grazing field, so it won't get cut a third time. Next week it is supposed to rain about every day, so that field will not get mowed then. It is the easier field to do, up near the house and barn. So far this year we have not hired any help, we have done it ourselves. We'd kind of like to see if we can continue this, it sure lowers the cost of our hay. Out of pocket expenses for the field today was 50 cents a bale. Not bad....but not counting the cost of equipment and such, just gas and twine. Today's photo: | |

| Washing the Explorer early this morning (at 6:30) and getting her ready for the big parade tomorrow. Watsontown's Sesquicentennial Parade. We are unit 120/121 out of 196. It's going to be a huge parade for such a tiny town.
Picked up the metallic signs for the Gold Star parents to use on the Explorer and all the plaques for the MOPH picnic on Monday. One for the Gold Start Parents, a fireman, a sheriff and a Purple Hearter for the big picnic on Monday. 65 people are coming this year.
Gathered 22 eggs so far from our friend Jeff's chickens, I'm going to have to black market some of them if they keep laying so many while he is on vacation.
ARK: That looks like too much work to me. You two certainly are hard workers.
CB: Thank God for the dog, he kept you safe.

| A good one - Glasses?
Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me again, asking why I didn't do something useful with my time. “Like, me sitting around the pool and drinking wine is not a good thing?” I asked. My "doing-something-useful" seems to be her favorite topic of conversation.
She was "only thinking of me", she said and suggested that I go down to the Senior Center and join something. I did this and when I got home last night, I decided to play a prank on her. I e-mailed her and told her that I had joined a Parachute Club.
She replied, "Mother, are you nuts? You are 78 years old and now you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?” I told her that I even got a Membership Card and e-mailed a copy to her.
She immediately telephoned me and yelled, "Good grief, Mom, where are your glasses?! This is a Membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club.”
I calmly replied, "Oh my, I think I'm in real trouble then, because I signed up for five jumps a week!!”
The line went quiet and her friend picked up the phone and said that my daughter had fainted.
Life as a Senior Citizen is not getting any easier, but sometimes it can be real fun. Just because you're "Young" doesn't mean that you can outsmart an "old Geezer"
Remember: Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to tick us off.

| Yesterday, was rather chilly and cloudy, but today is just beautiful, although not warm. We are going to have a really nice stretch of mid 70s weather. It will be a good time to get a lot of outdoor work done.
Not too much going on around here right now. The boat activity is slowing down since kids are back in football practice and whatever other practices are starting. School will start in about a week and a half. Little Miss Scarlett will start kindergarten... all day kindergarten. That will be a big change for her. Little Lilah will start preschool after Labor Day. And, Little Nora will start life - any day now. As has been said so many thousands of times, they do grow up fast.

| CB, friend with broken arms is fine. The friend with the mule is having a ball. She is now at a boarding facility that's really big and has many friends. So she is busy for sure.
Boy, our full moon was gorgeous last night. I even went out and gazed at the horses. Their shadows were stunning. And Rex, too.
It's another good day here. This morning was cool and nice. Today will be hot but not so hot. Monsoon has relented temporarily.
everyone have a good day.................God bless.

| Today turned out to be a nicer weather day than was predicted. Lots of people and boats running around. After a rain and a couple of cooler days, the water has cooled off a few degrees. I don't like to swim as long. My neighbors oversee the rental house across the lake that is owned by a good friend of theirs who lives in Scotland. This week's renters were asking about where they could rent a jet ski. Most of the marinas charge outrageous prices. $100/hr! Neighbors asked me if I would be interested in renting mine. Since mine is older I didn't have to think about it too long to collect $100 per day. I think it's only rented for today and maybe tomorrow. It's about time something I own started earning its keep. Since tonight and tomorrow are full moon nights, I'm sort of expecting to hear that a younger cousin has had her baby. He is due to arrive today anyway. | |

| ELLEN : Congrats on the jetski earning its keep! Nice! TRUDY: How did the parade go? You are right about how putting up hay is too much work. Donnie and I wonder how long we can keep it up. We are slugs this weekend! CB: I hope you can slow down for awhile! That is a lot of traveling lately! GRAYMARE: That is good news about your friends!! I'd love to see a photo of the lady and her mule. We had such great weather all weekend! Cooler than normal and bright blue skies. Nice! Saturday we went to a benefit horse show for a local farrier who got hit by a truck while riding his horse. He will be out of work for awhile and apparently the horse is doing okay. It was a cute little horse show. No one knew what they were doing and just had fun doing it. Sunday, Lori came over so I could have a lesson on Areion. It was forecast to rain all this coming week, so we snuck the lesson in today. (They have since changed the forecast, ). Anyway, I rode Ivan first for his 20 minutes of walking with 5 minutes of trotting interspersed in it. He did fine, but seemed a bit lethargic. I think he has gotten used to the lazy life. Areion was wonderful! She didn't do anything to give me a scare and we had a good time. I think she has decided to be kind to me while I figure out what she already knows how to do. She has been great for a month. Donnie was home so he took pix and was my timer for Ivan's therapy ride. Helped a lot! Riding Ivan, Lori on Areion Riding Areion Trotting on Areion | |
