No, we didn't wind up with very much snow at all. There is just barely enough to cover the ground.

GRAYMARE: I call him Puff the Magic Kitten all the time, LOL. Bottle feeding a kitten turned out really great. He is such a sweet guy and finds comfort on my lap....which I love.
CB: Come on over! You would like the New River Trail.
ELLEN: That was a great idea for clearing the snow from your satellite dish! Ours is about 18 feet up in the air on top of the roof. We would have to get a very good squirt gun.
TRUDY: I sing like a frog. I am hoping folks will enjoy the decorated horses and don't listen too closely to me. I found out last night that we weren't going to be riding in subdivisions, but in downtown Blacksburg on Main Street! We will be a very small parade. Reportedly, the town officials are very happy about this. They have a Christmas event going on at their farmers' market and we will end up there. I sure hope Ivan behaves himself. The good news is, he knows some of the other horses fairly well. He really likes Noble and Tonto, so I suspect we will stick with them. Other good news: the university students are off for their Christmas holidays so the traffic will be much lighter. I hope we have a police escort, but don't know yet. Donnie wants me to wear my Christmas present from him, the Hit Air safety vest. Concrete is a little hard.
It is so cold this week. Getting Ivan cleaned up is not going to be fun. He hates getting wet. Luckily the temps are going up into the mid-40s on Saturday, we had windchills of zero degrees a couple of nights ago. I may just wash his tail and cover him in decorations wherever he is dirty. The joys of a grey horse....

ARK: That little parade sounds like so much fun. I'd be right there with you if I lived closer and had a horse.
We have SNOW, probably about 3 inches that fell Tuesday night into Weds. My idiot grandson wrecked his truck, slid off the road, he didn't get get hurt but the truck sure did. He wouldn't listen to his parents and put winter tires on the truck, was more interested in buying toys for his Mule (not a 4 legged mule) than spending the money for tires. Hard life lesson for him.
Christmas concert tonight at church. I'm going with my friend Dee and George is staying home. Sometimes the music is too loud for him. The orchestra plays that song from the Trans Siberian Orchestra "Carol of the Bells", it's wonderful but hard on his ears. I love it.

Ark, here is a squirt gun like the ones I have. https://www.amazon.com/Stream-Machine-QF-2000-35-Inch-Launcher/dp/B000F32SM0/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1513383711&sr=8-33&keywords=large+squirt+gun It would easily reach 18 feet. My dish is in the middle of the peak of my roof. It's probably about 20 feet from where we were shooting. The thing works like a hand held pump. You pull out the handle to suck water into the barrel, then push it back in forcefully to shoot the water. I paid $7 at one of the local stores for mine. (Bought three of them for the kids to play with, which they do and love.) A few years ago, before Travis and his family moved to the new house, we both had satellite dishes get covered with wet snow. Travis got a ladder and cleared both of our dishes. With snow on the roof, it wasn't the safest thing in the world to do so I started looking for solutions and found this one. I was very pleased that it worked so well.

Hi all, cloudy & windy here, about 60. It's supposed to rain during the night so I just brought the horses in. That reduces the chance of rain................seems to work that way.
No news. We had a great time at the progressive dinner.........way fun. Funny, I looked at my friends all duded up and thought "oh wow, we're old". And then thought we really are..............just a different stage of life. So, it's all about having fun.
Bye for now. Prayers for ALL.

It is rather interesting that a time comes when we actually LOOK at the people our age and see the aging. We go along for years seeing those people everyday and don't really think about age. Then, it hits us. Getting my renewed drivers license was that moment for me.

Well, we survived the horseback caroling pretty well! No big problems for any of the 8 horses in it. Ivan kept waiting on the race to begin and was kind of 'forward', but controllable without too much effort. He only had one minor spook toward the end of the route when we passed a pile of dirt at a construction site with some plastic sheeting around it that was flapping a bit in the wind. Ivan only scooted over toward the middle of the road and we got past the monster. Toward the end of the ride Ivan was fairly well done with all the cars passing in the opposite lane, people everywhere and lots of weird stuff that he doesn't see at home. He was glad to hop back on his trailer. It was fun, but I found I cannot read/sing/and drive a horse at the same time. I "la,la,la"-ed a lot when I couldn't read the little song book. I will have to memorize a few songs before we do this again, I haven't sung carols in probably 30 years.
Ivan did really well, I thought. He was hand walked in a parade 5 years ago, ridden a bit in a parade 3 years ago, but mostly hand walked in it. I rode the entire time this time and never felt out of control or like he would run for the hills. I may do the Christmas parade with him next year.
Fun day!

GRAYMARE: I never shot out my eye either, but my neighbor shot out a street light. Boy did we get in trouble for that. LOL
ARK: WOW that looked like so much fun except for the singing part. I love parades. Ivan did great too. What a fun group of horse friends you have. I'm jealous...
The count down is on now. Busy week ahead dashing all about doing last minute things, getting together with friends before the big day arrives.
Have a fun filled week everyone.

BB Gun Adventures. A lot of years ago, as in more than 50, some boys down the street had a BB gun and they were not the kindest kids ever. They had been know to chase the ducks on the lake, and shoot at birds. Also, down the street lived a guy who was a first class grouch. One day, my mom and dad were in the boat, fishing near a dock where Mr. Grouch was standing while he fished. Ornery boys were a short distance away, shooting straight up in the air. What goes up, comes down. One of the airborne missiles came down directly on top of Mr. Grouch's head, from whom a long string of expletives were heard far and wide. My dad and mom were laughing hysterically, which did little to endear them to Mr. Grouch.

This evening, I went to Little Lilah's preschool Christmas program. She was very determined to do exactly what she was supposed to do. Unfortunately, some of the other kids didn't see that as a necessity. The preschool teacher from last year retired. She had all the kids well managed and organized. The new teacher is very young. It was a cute program, and offered a couple of unintended laughs, like when "Joseph" walked up to the manger and tossed the baby in it.

I bet Lilah's program was so cute! Little kid programs are so much fun.
Only three shopping days left before Christmas.... Thankfully, I am done for the year, but have to wrap Donnie's and the neighbors' presents. I got some things locally, but have to admit that I love Amazon. I only spent $20 on shipping things myself this year, and all time record in cheapness for me. Shopping online just seems to work for me, I don't really like shopping alone, Donnie hates shopping period, and my favorite person to shop with has knee surgery coming up this year, hip surgery last year, so no girly shopping for us.
I did have lunch with that friend yesterday and we exchanged presents at Ruby Tuesdays. That was fun!
Speaking of gifts, someone sent me some of the nicest socks I have seen. Whoever that someone is didn't put their name on the package and it was shipped from the company. I have no idea who gave me these great socks! I don't know who to thank, but I thank them and my feet thank them. I discovered I have been wearing really crummy socks for awhile, these are wonderfully warm. My feet are happy today!
Donnie may be off work on Friday until after the New Year. He is looking forward to it! Me, too....

Surprisingly, I'm pretty well ready for Christmas. All the shopping is done, all the packages wrapped. This morning I went to Ft. Wayne to the Honey Baked Ham store to pick up a small ham to take to cousins'. There might be one slice missing. This evening, I'll go stay with the girls while Travis takes Jamie out for a surprise.
Ark, your caroling looks like sooo much fun. I hope that becomes an annual event.

Ark, that would drive me nuts not knowing...i hate not...i guess im a bit of control freak, cant stand surprises either. One year on my birthday i overheard about a surprise party and i traded shifts so i had to work, i think im afraid of surprises....i like preplanning everything.
Ellen, i love ham...yum, dont blame you for having a lil slice!
Tommorrow is our xmas here....so tonight jessi is making lasagne...
Please has anyone heard from Indyapp? I have worried and wondered, sent pvt message, but no answer. That would make my xmas happy to hear from her and all our foops and foopettes.

The big day is almost here. Is everyone ready? I'm as ready as I'm going to be.
RICK: That is my all time favorite Christmas song and I loved Danny Gokey since he was on AI. Thanks for sharing. That guy can sing.
ARK: The mystery of the socks. That's a fun mystery. Every time you put the socks on you'll wonder who the heck they came from. LOVE IT...It was your Secret Santa.
I had a nice Christmas breakfast with my Barnabas team on Weds. Always good to spend time with the girls.
Thursday we attended a ceremony at the Veterans Walk, the church put a brick in for a veteran whose remains were returned home from WW11, his sister was there to help place the brick. He had been a POW and they just identified his remains and returned them to his family.
I received the absolute worst Christmas card I have ever gotten in my 69 years the other day. It was from my cousin's wife. It was a nice card with a big Merry Christmas Happy New Year greeting and then there was a post it note inside that said "Lee is dead, he was in a nursing home and passed away on February 7, 2017", WHAT????? February and she was telling me now. I couldn't believe my eyes. I started crying and tearing the card to pieces, George was looking at me in shock. I'm still so angry that she couldn't bother to tell me for almost a year and then puts it on a post it note in a Christmas card. Who does such a thing? Good thing she lives in Texas and not in PA. She doesn't want this crazy angry redhead at her door.
Have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR. Praying that 2018 is a good year for all.

Reba with a group, whose name I can't remember, sang that on the Country Music Christmas show the other evening. It's a beautiful song. Maybe because we don't hear them all the time, but there are a lot of beautiful Christmas songs. When I got this car a year ago, 3 months of free Sirius XM radio. Since I'm not in the car that much, I didn't renew it then. But they just had a special deal that was affordable, so I signed up again for a year. There are several stations that play nothing but Christmas music. That's what I'll be listening to as I travel to cousins' and back.

RICK: Beautiful song! Thanks! Happy Holidays to you, too!
TRUDY: Wow. That was some Christmas card. I am so sorry about your cousin. I hope the rest of your Christmas goes much better. I still don't know who sent the socks, but I sure do like them! They are really nice and warm and comfy. And pretty! No one has admitted to sending them yet, they are driving me nuts.
ELLEN: We have the Sirius radio stations right now on our new truck, too. I am not in it nearly as much as Donnie, but he listens to the old time radio shows on it. I am not sure he will get it after it runs out unless there is a very good deal. Drive safe to your relatives house!!
It is pouring rain here this afternoon. We got the barn cleaned, but since it is raining, the horses are in it. So we get to clean it again in a little bit when we put them to bed. It was getting pretty dry here, so the rain is good, just a little too wet for comfort...
Donnie and I went to see the new Star Wars movie yesterday. Since I have been ticked off that the killed off Hans Solo, I really wasn't feeling kindly toward the franchise. And sure enough, they ticked me off again! I won't tell you how since some of you may go see it over the holidays. They did have a cute new creature in the movie, a little calico birdy/pug creature called a porg. I want one.... I have seen all but one of the Star Wars movies as they came out in the theatres and honestly, I only liked the first three. I may give up the series.
