| Is that the cutest little girl and pony, or what! She looks like she is ready for the Easter parade... Happy Easter! This time last week we had a foot of snow. It has gone with March's wind and the past couple of days have been very nice. I rode Ivan and Lori rode Areion in our arena on Saturday afternoon. We were having a very nice lesson, the horses were mellow, the sun was bright and shiny, and all was well. Then about 45 minutes into our ride, my neighbor, the one with 6 dogs, decided to burn some kind of trash that bellowed smoke everywhere. It would puff up like smoke signals when it wasn't blowing our way. The wind was just enough to bring it right to us. Then she decided to get on her roof and shake out a tarp to cover part of it. Eagle-eye Ivan, who knows that neighbors shouldn't be on their roof flapping a big tarp with smoke clouding up the sky, did not take all this activity too well. I had to fight to keep him from totally freaking out and taking Areion along with him. After dealing with this for about a half hour, we decided we had had enough fun for one day. I love my neighbor....I wish this was an April Fool's story, but unfortunately it is true. Eagle-Eye Ivan and his sidekick, Areion. | |

| ACKKKKKKKKKKKK we have SNOW. And I just put my snow boots away on Saturday and we washed the truck. Figures.... Hope everyone had a blessed Easter. We had dinner at our friends and were surprised to see friends we sit with at church there too. It was a nice Easter dinner with so much food and we even brought home a doggie bag (for us but I'm sue Ace will get some too). Going to the movies to see Paul tomorrow with my ladies of the Barnabas Team, glad we aren't going today. I'm going to stay inside and grouch around about the snow. | |

| Trudy, I managed to avoid that snow yesterday. I was on my way home from a cousin's in Ohio. I managed to get far enough north before the snow got there. There wasn't any snow here at my house; it went just barely south of here. That doesn't mean it isn't cold here this morning. At 25° it is NOT warm, but the sun is shining so I have hope for something better as the day goes on.
There were 29 of us at my cousin's, and waaaaaay too much food. We have a lot of good cooks in the family. | |

| High winds and no power. Just a quick check in before the power is gone again. The power company is at the end of our road with about 8 trucks. We have power but our neighbors do not. | |

| We've had high winds since yesterday. The temps aren't too bad, but the wind makes it seem so much colder. We still haven't cleaned up the downed branches from the last windy day. At least we have power. That got old quick. We are doing great without DirecTv! Donnie has our tv connected by internet using a device called Roku and also by an antenna that gets signals from local t.v. stations. DirecTv really should treat their long time customers better. You have to call and ask for better deals, the monthly price goes up without notice, you pay more for machinery that should have been updated anyway, and generally don't get good customer service. I won't miss them. I got a small load of hay yesterday and have contacts out for a bit more. Our grass is already growing despite the cool temps. It is too bad I can't just turn my horses loose to graze all day, but they would be crippled by laminitis in short order. I am always amazed at folks around here that have horses grazing all day. Our vet says those horses are laminitic time bombs. And I thought having pastures would solve our horse feeding chores.... Donnie has been busy spreading our mountain of composted horsey doo onto one of the fields. It will be great to see that mountain disappear! | |

| Ark, I am very interested in what you said about DirecTV. They keep raising the price, and even when I call to try to negotiate a better deal, since they merged with AT&T, there isn't much dealing to be done. Before the merger, their customer service was good. Not any more. I have a plasma TV that is not a smart TV. So, I don't really know what I need to get to have the channels I want. I've been looking at the Amazon Fire TV that comes with an antenna for local channels. Why did Donnie choose Roku? | |

| ELLEN: I will have to ask Donnie why he chose one over another. From what I understand, Roku is a one time only $40 device that connects a smart t.v. to the internet. It has a lot of free channels and movies on it. It didn't have our favorite news channel, though, so he subscribed to Google TV...I think. It costs $40 per month and has most of what DirecTv had for twice that amount. If you lose your internet, you don't have tv from it. But he got an antenna that picks up the stations from Roanoke, so we would have tv even without the internet, just none of the cable news channels. So our monthly bill is $40 and if needs be, we could do without it and still have lots to watch on the 19 local stations the antenna picks up. We have a very good internet provider now and our tv is working great. It took a little while to get used to how to get where I wanted to go on the Roku device, but it is not hard now.
