ELLEN:
Ooops, I called them flycatchers.  The birds are actually barn swallows.

Folks think I am afraid of all spiders, but actually, I am only afraid of the BIG ones. affraid  I don't kill them if I can capture them and throw them out into the bushes.  Snakes, on the other hand, I am afraid to touch!  I want the snakes to live, they serve a purpose, I just don't want then snacking on the baby birds in the barn.  It is really too bad I am such a chicken about handling non-poisonous snakes, it would be so much easier to just pick them up and move them.   The manure fork worked pretty good this time, but I think the snake was a little addled from his 12 foot drop to the floor.

I just checked on the chicks and they are still alive!  I guess the parent birds  have figured out where the family has moved.

Our garage has 20 years of accumulated junk in it.  It will be a major clean-up job before we see the entire floor.  Rolling Eyes   Good luck with yours!!  I wish I had some victims to clean ours!  ROFL

Ark, while I am not especially afraid of non-poisonous snakes, I'm not even about to pick up one. I was laughing at your story, but I think you did very well in handling it. Here where I live, there really aren't very many snakes of any kind. It is rather rare to see one. I know they are probably around, but they do a good job of staying out of sight.
As for spiders, I have a bug guy come every month during the summer to spray all around the house. The first summer after this place was built, the spiders thought my wide eaves were just a dandy place to build lots of webs. It looked awful in just a few weeks. The bug guy prevents that from happening. He also helps keep out the ants, big and little.
Later in the summer a variety of bees will have nests. When I see signs of a nest, the bug guy is good about coming immediately to erradicate them.

I am feeling unduly proud of myself. I'd been looking for a new computer table and not finding exactly what I wanted. My feeble brain finally started thinking of ways to fix what I have. It was a $1.61 solution. Four washers, 2 bolts, and 2 wingnuts. They fit nicely between the part of the table that tilts and the part that does not. With the table neatly sandwiched between the washers, held in place by the bolts, no more tilt. Very Happy It doesn't even look bad or hurt the table.

A little while ago, I saw one of Travis' cats climbing a tree that is really close to my deck. She got up to the second branch far above my reach, and then sat there looking down and didn't seem to be able to figure out how to get down. So, I opened a can of tuna and set it where she could see it, and probably smell it. The next time I saw her, she was patiently trying to lick the last of the tuna out of the can.

ELLEN:
Congrats on your newly fixed computer table! And: Good job getting the kitty out of the tree! You had a productive day.... Very Happy

Our big deed of the day was to haul the old appliances to the dump recycler place. It's nice to get rid of the junk. We still need to haul the manure trailer filled with metal to where they buy scrap metal.

No trail ride for me on Saturday. Our trailer's brakes need work and it isn't worth risking lives to go with defective brakes. sigh....and I am so in the mood for a trail ride. Donnie found that three of the four trailer brakes have issues, one is completely not working. affraid We had them looked at last year, but suspect nothing got done on them.

I might get to see the Belmont Stakes after all. walk horse

Justify is a magnificent horse.  Beautiful race.  I don't normally promote racing because they're started so darn young but in this case Justify is awesome!

Trudy, where are you?  You should have had at least one of your eye surgeries by now.

Indy, Justify is a good example of not starting young. He wasn't raced at all as a 2 year old. I completely agree with you about most being started too young.

As I understand it, Justify will run again in late summer or fall. He leaves tomorrow for Louisville for a rest. I think Church Hill Downs, then on to California, Baffert's home barn. We will see what the future holds.

The Camp Justify had pizza at a local restaurant in Queens with Justify spelled out in pepperoni last night.

So much excitement for the horse world.

Party should have had a carrot cake Very Happy Very Happy

The weekend was a bust here.  Rained all weekend.  Only thing I got accomplished was laundry and binge watched Code Black.  I have a load of hay sitting in my hay guy's barn.  He wanted to deliver it this weekend but the weather wouldn't cooperate.

Indy, I've had the same weather problems this weekend. My cousin and her neighbor came up yesterday with the expectation of going on boat rides and jet ski rides. We went for a short pontoon trip last evening about sundown and that was all she wrote. It's been raining most of the day. I managed to get gas in the jet ski and got it ready to go, but the rain started again.
We went to dinner at a good restaurant in town. whoopee big deal.
Now we are sitting here trying to find something worth watching on TV. Boy, that's a bust.

Yeah, television tonight is a bust.  I finally settled on America's Got Talent.  Some of the performers really have inspirational stories.  One woman tried out for a Theme Park singing job when she was 19 and was told she was too big for the costumes so didn't get the job.  Fast forward she's now a mother of two and the kids looked to be teenagers and unfortunately morbidly obese.  But her voice was amazing.  The window is open, a light breeze is blowing and a gentle rain is falling.  The sound and smell is peaceful.  If it has to be raining, might as well find the silver lining.

Anyhow they stated he was going to KY to rest and then on to CA to train.

I just can't get over what a great day yesterday was.

Sorry everyone things have been so busy here I haven't even been on the computer.  The Purple Heart convention was Sunday to Weds, then I had Barnabas at church on Weds & Thursday, Friday was try to put away all the flags and stuff from the convention, grocery day and pick up the T-shirts for the Barnabas group.  Saturday & Sunday I tried to rest a little and do laundry.  Someday I'll get caught up.

Watched the race. WHAT A HORSE...that's the way to win wire to wire out in front.

The convention was wonderful this year except for the couple of old farts who got made because they weren't elected to the office they wanted so they pulled their friends and left the convention.  Stuck us with paying for 10 uneaten meals.  JERKS...grow up...our church veterans performed the entertainment.  They were wonderful.  The Evans Sisters did a lot of Patsy Cline & Loretta Lynn songs.  It was great.

George is now the finance officer for the MOPH state of PA.  Guess who is going to have to help him????  Gotta dust off my old accounting brain cells. I'm enlisting our daughter Amy who has a accounting degree and knows Quick Books to provide help to us.

My eye surgery is tomorrow.  UUGHHHHH Not looking forward to that at all.  Still doing the crazy regimen with the 15 eye drops a day.  This better work to help my dry eye issue.  It's a full time job.

ARK:  WOW that was a crazy story about the snake.  You are very brave girlfriend.  I'd be running the other way.  Not a fan of snakes at all.  We had one in the yard the other day without a head.  We think it must have gotten hit with the mower and the cats drug it up in the yard.  EEWWWWWW

I'll check in after my surgery soon as I can.  Y'all know I am freaking out!!!!!!

Trudy, we will be waiting to hear that everything is okay and you are happy you can see better.

My cousin and her neighbor just left after a bust of a weekend. The weather has been terrible the whole time. Yesterday, it rained on and off in the morning, and ALL afternoon. Today, it hasn't rained, but it's been chilly and cloudy. The only solution is that they have to come back later in the summer when I hope the weather will be better.
This whole week is not looking very promising for good weather.

TRUDY:
I bet your surgery is over and all is well by now! ClappingHands   I hope you are seeing 20/20 very soon.
hug   Surgeries are scary.  I think Donnie is finally had about enough with his bad knees, he is actually checking into surgeons around here.

The chicks are still alive!!  I sneaked a peek of them yesterday afternoon when I had to get hay out of the hayloft.  Four little beady eyes looked back at me.   What a Face

I saw the BIG RACE!! wavy   Wow, what a horse!  This is the first time I have caught all three of the Triple Crown races in the same year for a very long time.  Good time to do it.  I really like Justify.  He makes racing look good.

When we had the Foop meeting in Lexington, KY, a bunch of us went to WinStar  Farm on a tour.  What a nice place!  Besides being  nice enough to be able to eat off the floor, the barn had chandeliers for the high priced stallions to enjoy.  It's a beautiful place.  I wonder if they will let the public see Justify?

Lori came over Saturday and we had a second lesson for the week.  I just rode Ivan, but he was in a stellar mood!  He had lots of energy and was willing to use it to do what we were trying to do.  We had a really nice lesson.   Our horse trailer is out of commission until we get the brakes worked on, hopefully that will be soon.  We have a 'guy' lined up.

Gloomy, chilly day here today.  It's kind of nice to have one every now and then.  I have the barn cleaned and the horses out in the pasture in their grazing muzzles already.  Very Happy   (9:30 a.m.)

All went well.  No pain.  Don't even remember anything about the surgery.  My eyes are screwy right now, the vision is weird.  I can see with my left eye but unless I put on my glasses I can't see with the right eye.  So they took the left lens outta my glasses.  The vision is still screwy and will be for awhile.  But I will still need glasses for both eyes.  An on going situation.  Reading is difficult. Went to the doctor today and he checked it out, no swelling or pain. I'll catch up later.

Glad your surgery is over! wavy They must have given you the 'good' drunken stuff. I remember every minute of my surgeries. It may take your brain a little while to get used to the new vision, but it probably won't be too long.

We have a 97% chance of rain this afternoon. No riding lesson for me.
