| After 5 days of gloom and rain, this afternoon got really nice. Mid 70s, and lower humidity. I'm grateful. | |

| When I abbreviate mountains, the computer always replaces it with mans instead of mtns. I forget to. check it.
We've had roaring rain & thunder.........you can't bottle the good and refreshing smell.
Glad you're fine TRUDY.............it all just takes time. Hang in there.

| Wow! What a beautiful sky this evening. Stripes of pink, orange, blue, lavender, doubled by the reflection on the water. Just enough ripple to be interesting. I am thankful. | |

| LOL. Summer in the mountains. I took the dog out for one last duty call. It was in-between rains. It started to sprinkle, then BOOM thunder and lightening and pouring. I was about 150-200 feet from trailer. I came in safe, drenched, and happy for the rain. Let the sky thunder & tumble. Now, later, a quiet nothing. | |

| It's been a typical summer day. Mid 80s, sunny, very little breeze. Terrific day for playing in and on the water. This is Friday, so boat traffic started picking up mid afternoon. Looks like quite a few people took Friday afternoon off work.
I got some towels embroidered today. Kinda cute. They are for a neighbor who has a little apartment built in what was an outdoor shed. Because it's so small, they call it the Hobbit House. So, they are getting Hobbit House towels because they are letting my cousin stay in there when our gang is here for the week of the 4th. VERY nice people.

| Most family traditions are a good thing. However, some neighbors to the east of me have been keeping me awake on summer weekend nights for 4 generations. It started with the great-grandfather in the 50s, then the grandfather and his brothers in the 60s and 70, then the father and his brother and friends, and now the early 20 somethings are continuing the tradition. They were partying loudly until nearly 1:00 AM. That's an improvement over the original generation who kept things going most of the night. Needless to say, there is a considerable amount of wobbly water consumed. That seems to numb the sensitivity to other's sleeping comfort, and increases their own temporary deafness so that screaming and yelling is the only way they can hear. | |

| ELLEN: I'm so sorry you have that situation to contend with. We have become such a rude, crude, vulgar, self-centered, angry, selfish, greedy society without any real regard for other people's well being or "rights". I'm not sure what our "rights" are anymore.
I truly hate to feel this way, but I am having real problems reciting the Pledge of Allegiance beyond the opening line: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America...". I almost lose it beyond those few words and get a knot in my stomach to even think about it any further. I am SO GLAD to be the age I am now cause I really don't want to be around much longer to see where this country ends up … a country that snatches nursing infants from mom's breast and puts them in cages … a country where kids in school are no longer safe from violence and death all because of "rights to carry a gun" takes precedence of safety... the words / greetings found on the Statue of Liberty are NO LONGER relevant. I could go on, but …
Now...this rant of mine in NO WAY is meant to be disrespectful to those brave men and women who serve / have served in the military. They are to be commended and thanked for their generosity of their talents and … in far too many cases … their very lives.
My love to ALL my Foop Friends ... a very SAD / ANGRY Rick
(ARK ... take this down if you feel its inappropriate. I'll STILL love you guys!!)

| Last evening, a neighbor couple and I went out for supper. They knew of a little local place about 10 miles away, a place I'd never heard of. It was a really good meal... prime rib, salad, and baked potato. I'll also have prime rib for lunch. It was big. I'll be going to that place again. It is one of those small town restaurants that you drive by a thousand times, not really seeing it, and not considering stopping in. I love finding places like that.
The geese were very fertile this year. There are DOZENS of new goslings. I won't let them come up on my yard because they leave such a terrible mess. 50+ geese can leave a LOT of "presents".
It's going to be HOT and HUMID again today.

| Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Still having issues reading or typing so this will be short. Can't wait for the next surgery. Praying this one is the same as the last one. Easy peasy. I can now reassure anyone who asks me about how the surgery went.
God Bless The USA and all the Veterans who have shed their blood & their given service for me to live free.

| Hot here today, too. It's going to be in the 90s with humidity for a few days. Summer is here. I cancelled my riding lesson for Monday, that arena is like an oven. The horses will be happy about that.
We bought an oak tree at Lowe's and are digging a hole to plant it in just outside the arena. It is our memorial tree remembering Zippy and Kazi. We are burying the ashes of Kazimir and my dog, Kelsie, with the tree. It's about 50 feet from where we buried Zippy and Kazi. I hope we can keep the tree alive, it will eventually be 50 feet tall and make some much needed shade.

| RICK, America is certainly not like it was.............It's such a mess, I can't believe it.
I still hold positive thoughts that it will return to the status it once was when America had values.

| RICK I understand your frustrations. I want to believe that we are at the far end of a pendulum swing and that we will swing back towards civility soon. I hope. A good sign is how much this migrant child jailing situation is affecting folks from all over. Maybe it will unite us. ELLEN: Sorry about your partying neighbors. We spent several years having fireworks shot into our pasture every major holiday because the across-the-road neighbors had always done it before we moved in. Same folks that ran trucks into our property....Luckily they have aged out for the most part. Kind of a deplorable crowd. (We also had our roof shot one year....I caught the kid in the act that time. It didn't happen again, but he was the one whose truck hit our house years later.) I hope your sweet neighbors age out quickly. 94 degrees here. I had the barn cleaned by 10 a.m. The horses think it is weird. | |

| I went back to read what I wrote about the partiers. I sounded very irate and shouldn't have. Yes, I was a little annoyed, but they are young and will only be young once. That doesn't really excuse bad behavior, but if that's the worst that ever happens to me, I will have lived a very blessed life. I just think it's kind of funny that it has been going on for 4 generations, since 1954. The older generations were a lot noisier for longer than the current ones. The older ones would bury a pig and let it cook all night, and of course, they had to tend to it. That required great amounts of wobbly water to get through the night. While it was annoying then, I look back on it with a chuckle.
Today was hot and humid again. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when it will be more than 10 degrees cooler. If it doesn't rain all day, I'll get some outdoor work done.

| I had an eye appointment yesterday. Everything is progressing well, had all the tests run for the next surgery. July 10th. I'm so impressed, I can see without the left lens in my glasses, things are still a little blurry and I will need reading glasses but WOW and double WOW. I can see better with left eye than I can with my right eye with the lens in the glasses.
Yes everyone was right about how easy and pain free the surgery was. Even you Rick, it's hard for me say that a man was right about anything. HAHAHAHA But I'm a worry wart, can't help myself. Yesterday I was the voice of reason to the people in the waiting room who were freaking out like I was before the surgery. Praying that I eased their minds a little bit. Dr. Verma said I should work for them as a spokesman for the cataract surgery. LOL
It is steamy this morning. Gosh...73 degree with humidity of 95%. Feels like I'm in Florida, not PA...Off to Bible study this morning.

| If any of you are interested, The Royal Ascot is on NBCsports today through Friday from 8:30-1:00 AM EST. Then on Saturday it moves to local NBC, 9:00-1:00. I just watched a race that was 2 1/2 miles long. That seems like such a long distance, compared to most of our races. It was won by a 6 year old mare. | |

| Yes Rick please accept my humble apology. LOL I'll even say the dreaded word that a woman hates to say. "YOU WERE RIGHT." OMG that just about kills me to utter those words. You may do the "I told you so song and dance" and I'll applaud you. Went to the dentist yesterday, I tried to get out of that appointment by using the eye surgery excuse but the eye doctor cleared all my restrictions so off I went and surprise...my teeth were not in as bad shape as I thought they were going to be. It has cooled off here and is a comfortable 63 this morning. | |

| Even Royal horses can be afraid of big noisy crowds. There were two gray horses leading the Queen's procession into Ascot. When they got to a tunnel that leads to the inner walking ring one of them decided that he didn't want to go in there and started doing what every horse naturally does, started backing out of there. There was a ground man very nearby who moved in and helped lead him in. After they were on the walking circle, the horse was still unhappy and managed to get the ground man on the ground. The poor guy got up and resumed trying to quiet the fractious horse. I'm guessing he will be replaced for the next two mornings. After the Queen dismounted from the carriage, she went to see a couple of the horses pulling her carriage. It is neat to see a 307 year old tradition being maintained.
Trudy, I'm glad you had a good day yesterday. It is 69° with 93% humidity this morning. Rain is coming.
