| Baby season has arrived! We have several fawns around our property, baby bunnies, and baby birds in our barn. I love seeing all the little wild creatures. Donnie took this photo a couple of days ago of a fawn off in the bushes of our lower field. Welcome to June! | |

| Good Morning June!
I'm a day late with the greeting but guess that is ok. Church is at 10 this a.m. instead of 11 so need to get moving. I couldn't get my rear out of bed this a.m., really tired today for some reason.
I was in Kentville on Tuesday for my surgeons appointment. He was really pleased with my progress and I don't have to see him anymore. He asked about my other knee, I replied that I had warned it not to even think about giving me trouble, lol. I drove there (two hours) and Bev drove home. I wasn't any worse for wear for it. Shopped a little while we were there and had lunch but drive home was in pouring rain. I will continue my physio for another couple of weeks.
Not much happening around here. I got all my begonia pots this weeks for the deck and out front. They are smaller than ever and still the same price. My begonias have always been huge and very prolific from now till the first frost. We will see how these turn out. Our prices for everything has increased so much over the past year. Groceries are scary, I am only feeding me and Fergie but feel so bad for the ones that can't afford to eat well.....there are many. Pensioners are on a fixed income and really have to shop carefully.
Ellen, you watch that jet ski. You don't be doing any tricks and fall off, Girl. We don't want to hear that you are injured. Have to run.
Yes, Ark, where is Greymare.

| Ark, I'm with you on loving the spring babies. Spring is my favorite season. I know it's a relief to have the hay done for now.
Donna, it's so good to hear that you are recovering well. Keep up the good work.
As for the jet ski, I'm not like the kids doing donuts and all the other wild stuff they do. I just like to go fast in straight lines. It just feels good.
I haven't heard from Graymare in a long time. I've texted her several times but got no answer.

| Where did this week go? It seems to take us longer to recover from hauling haybales every year. We are soooo relieved to have the first cutting over with. I rode Ivan at Pandapas Pond on Tuesday, he was so good. He gets along well with the new gelding, Rocket, that we rode with. My usual riding friend has had brake problems and hasn't gone riding with us in quite awhile. The last time we rode with her, her gelding struck out at Ivan. Ivan didn't do anything to deserve a kick, and luckily, it missed us. So I haven't exactly pushed riding with her for awhile. I got kicked in the knee years ago when a TB kicked at Arkady and got me. I am not anxious to experience that again. It took months get over. A female deer died in our pasture this past week. There weren't any signs of illness or injury, so we think she may have died trying to give birth. Donnie got her buried after talking to the state ag people about if the deer needed to be tested for the wasting disease that apparently has reached our county. They said since she looked healthy and not thin, that we could just bury her. By the time he got her buried, the whole neighborhood was very happy it was done. The smell was a bit overpowering.... DONNA: Good to hear your knee is healing up! I have a friend who just had a knee replacement a couple of months ago and is now vacationing in Iceland. She has discovered her knee isn't quite as ready for as much walking as she thought it would be. I am not sure if she is having her other knee done or not. Her husband had both knees done at the same time. Donnie's surgeon didn't recommend that. ELLEN: I hope Sydney is okay and wish she would post or answer your text..... Have lots of fun speeding on the lake! Sounds like fun. | |

| Hello everyone. Yup, we are still alive & kicking here in PA. It's been a crazy couple of weeks but what else is new in my crazy life???? My brothers wife Sally passed away so we had to make another trip back to Pittsburgh. She had been really going down hill since my brother passed, so it is a good thing, she is rejoicing in Heaven with her beloved Teddy. Getting to see family & friends is always a good thing but praying this is the last trip home for awhile. 4 trips in 9 months is too many for this old girl. George didn't go, traveling for 4 hours is too much for him.
The trip home was kinda exciting. Since my son had his triple bypass, his memory plays tricks on him. On our way home he got us lost (of course, I'm not much help)and GPS had us going in circles. I had to try to calm him, he was getting mad at himself. It took us 6 hours to get home with about 6 stops so he could catch his breath and relax. Then being the joker that he is, he drove right by my house, laughing and saying "oh was that were we were supposed to end up."
Hang in there everyone. That's all we can do. One day at a time. Love & prayers....

| Tuesday will be my cousin's 70th birthday. So, 7 of us met at a local restaurant as a surprise for her. Most of the rest of the cousins are on vacations and couldn't be here. After a good lunch, we all came back to my house for homemade ice cream and key lime cake. They all headed back home just a bit ago. So, my house is clean and I get to sit here and do NOTHING if I want to. LOL
Ark, I'm sure glad it was the two of you who got to bury the dead dear. That would have been awful.
Trudy, how far are you from Pittsburgh? I thought you were relatively close. I'm glad you got there and back safely, even though there might have been a few wrong turns. Apparently, his sense of humor is still there. LOL

| TRUDY: I am so sorry you had another family death. Your family has had a bad stretch.... I have heard that anesthesia can cause memory problems for awhile sometimes. Maybe that is what is happening to your son. It must be frustrating for him. ELLEN: So how was the party?? What do you give a 70 year old relative? I have that coming up next year when my sister, Vicki, turns 70. My youngest sister turns 60 this October. I don't know how that has happened. I turned 70 this year. We are all turning into geezers! We took Ivan and Daisy to Va Tech today. They got trims, but Ivan was there to have a couple of suspicious looking little lumps removed from his skin on his chin and his chest. It was decided it was better to get them off while they were little. Ivan was so good, even before his sedation. I could tell he was doing his best to be brave and let that herd of vet students poke and prod him without moving or complaining. This from the horse that used to only let me take his temp or get into his space without complaining. The older he gets, the better he gets. | |

| Ark, we had a good time. Seven of us met at a local restaurant on the water. When Cousin and her significant other got there, she was surprised to see us. Then we came back here for key lime cake and homemade ice cream. She LOVES homemade ice cream. As for the gift, I gave her money for a piece of lawn art that she wanted. I would have given her the art, but wanted to make sure she got what she wanted. She was happy with it. Like the rest of us humans, as horses age there are a lot fewer things they feel the need to get excited about. LOL It's gonna be HOT here for the next two weeks. Today is mow-the-yard and jet ski day. | |

| After 30 sessions, I "graduated" from cardiac rehab today. Apparently, I did pretty well and they let me out of an additional 6 sessions. Now, I just have to keep myself motivated to keep going. I am beginning to see a good result.

| ELLEN: I am very happy to hear you are doing so well with your rehab!! Good job on keeping up the exercises! Okay, it's hot. Not as hot as those north and west of us, but still hot. And humid. I rode Ivan on Monday at Pandapas and he was a sweaty mess. He got a nice bath when we got home and he barely complained about getting wet. Strangely, he is still clean two days later, very un-Ivan like. I don't plan on any other trail rides until after this heat dome has passed. We bought a new heavy duty fan for the barn and will install it tomorrow. NANCY LEE: Haven't heard from you in awhile. Are you okay? | |

| Like the rest of the country, it's been hot here too. If I'm going to do anything outside, it has to be done before noon. I THINK we'll get a little relief on Sunday. The weekend is about to start, so there will be lots of boats and pontoons on the lake. A lot of people live on channel lots that do not have any beach, so they come to this lake to anchor and swim. Some of them tie their pontoons together and socialize all afternoon. | |

| Hello everyone. It's been hot as Hades here in PA too. A/C units running non stop and then a 11 hour power outage. Thank God for Generac! George would have never survived without the A/C. This morning it is 56 YAY. A little cooling off. The windows are open and FRESH air.
We have been busy painting the front of the farm house and the little spring house. It's been awhile since the spring house was painted. We paint a couple hours early in the AM before the heat gets too fired up so it's taking a long time to get finished.
BEECH: Sorry to hear about your brother. Prayers...
ELLEN: Great news on your rehab. Keep up the good work with the exercises.
ARK: Have fun giving the horses a nice cool shower.

| This is the busiest week of the summer. Lots of people take vacations around the 4th. We'll have fireworks on the lake on Saturday night. It's rained quite a bit. I looked at the jet ski and noticed it was about one big wave from floating off the lift. Since i had to get on it to run it back up on the lift, I decided I might as well take a ride. On Thursday, a cousin and his family will come up to stay a couple of days. They'll probably bring a boat, so that will be good fun. How is the painting going, Trudy? Are you done now? Any more baby animals, Ark? | |
