TRUDY:
I am so sorry about your neighbor's tractor accident. How terrible for him and his family and friends. Poor guy....just trying to get a job done. I have missed what is wrong with your young friend, but I hope there is a cure in sight.

ELLEN:
I bet you watched the big race yesterday! I actually saw it, I usually miss Saturday afternoon horse races. I don't know what happened to California Chrome, but he looked pretty listless. I hope he is okay. I voted for him. Donnie voted for Neolithic because he liked his name, and his choice came in third. Not bad...

ROSE:
I got your FB message, I will try to get your pix posted tomorrow. Maybe making the photos smaller will enable them to be posted, sometimes pix directly off cameras or phones are simply too big. Choose a size 600 pixels or less and it should post. You will find that choice on the posting screen.

Several years ago I got a photo from my dad of his new car. It took forever to download and my screen only showed the handle on the car door. The photo was enormous! Smaller is better!

It has been snowing off and on today, but not much is sticking around. I do like being outside during snow showers with big fluffy snow flakes. I feel like I am in a snow globe! Very Happy Too bad I don't like the cold much.

Ark, I did see the race on Saturday. I was a little worried for Chrome when they were still on the back stretch. He was being pushed a little bit then, and by the time they turned for home, he was done. They said he was on his way to the breeding shed. He'll still make them a pile of money.

We got a little bit of snow last night, just barely enough to cover the ground. It got cold enough to start refreezing the lake, but it probably will get torn up by the wind today. It's 16° this morning.

ROSE:
What a pretty horse Cross is!! wavy

ELLEN:
That sounds cold. We ended up with an inch or so of very sticky snow. My barn gates' chain clips were frozen shut. We must have had some icy rain overnight, too. I had to pour warm water over them to open them up. Such fun in the winter. Rolling Eyes Our high today will be 31 degrees, but tomorrow will be in the 50s!! The snow won't last long this time.

CB:
Did you mean "Chitty" or "Chatty" hysterical Stay warm!

Zippy didn't feel well last night. He didn't eat his dinner. That isn't a good sign for a greedy little pony. I gave him a half gram of bute and when I checked on him later, he seemed to feel better. This morning he is back to eating his head off, as is normal. Now that Kazi is gone, Zippy is twice the age of any of our other horses. So I may be a little paranoid about him....

We are taking Daisy to Va Tech tomorrow to have her feet trimmed. She is doing very well right now after a year of being a bit ouchy or having abscesses. I would like to take Areion with her tomorrow to give Donnie a break from trimming her. Not sure that will happen, though....

I have a question, back eons ago, when QH's were being shown and there heads were only 8 inches off the ground, weren't they referred to as peanut rollers? Someone please answer me quickly!! Question I used that expression concerning a APHc that a friend is looking to purchase and she now thinks I'm nutso! My rememberer may be failing........but swear I thought I was right.

Thanks a bunch ARK, I tried reducing the size but still got the error message. These were pics that Nikki took and posted on FB and I saved them, could that be the problem?

Thanks ARK, CB and ELLEN, Cross is remarkable, so laid back but I had hoped he's quit at 14.2 but guess thats not going to happen. Thanks goodness my wonderful son in law, Johnny, built me an extra tall mounting block when my I had the miniscus tear fresh in my right knee. Cross will be trained to stand close to the mounting block so grandma can reach over that big ol' back.

ARK, that sure was a stupid question, cause you posted from FB.  Sorry!  I didn't see the race.  Sorry Chrome didn't do well, but as long as he can retire sound and uninjured I'm happy.  He has proven himself many times over!

Pray Zippy stays well, but with this up and down weather we've had it's no wonder he wasn't feeling the best.

TRUDY, my prayers for the family of your neighbor, how terrible for him and them.  Also pray your friend can get some relief from her suffering.

Pnut roller, was the noses nearly touching the ground. Hated it.

I couldnt stand it, i went a bought a red dun gelding tonight....broke, seems gentle, trailered 3 hours home, loaded, unloaded, he and rocky were like long lost brothers, started munching hay together, no fuss at all. He came from a stable, so has his shots and coggins. Hes about 14.3, heavy bone structure in the legs. So if he works out, rocky will stay, if he doesnt work out, both will go, and i will be done riding.
Keep humming. Ty.

OH CB, I am so very happy for you!!!!!  And so many thanks for clarifying that I am not nutso!!  Lori laughed so hard at me that I wasn't so sure anymore! Laughing
I hated the heads on the ground style, it just didn't look or feel natural
.  Hope the new boy works out perfectly for you.

Rose, i hope he works out too....i know i have health limitations, so does hubby....but we got our first horse in 1973....they have been part of us for soooo long....embedded into our lifestyle. We will try to keep that for awhile longer....but if it doesnt work out then we know we gave it our all....i just love the smell of a horse, brushing, playing with them, but riding is the utmost relaxing, tranquil, peaceful letting go of your problems, THE best therapy you can have....id like to keep that in my life awhile longer. I really hope he works out....but its hard just to see a horse and know that until they are with you daily.
Have fun with your baby, his back looks wide. I hope he is your trusty steed for you to enjoy.

Congrats on the new horse! wavy I hope it works out well that you and Harry ride for many more years. Everyone says riding is therapeutic, which of course, we all knew anyway. It will be good for you both!
Did I miss the horse's name?

ROSE:
I downloaded the pix off of FaceBook onto my computer before posting them here using the first t.v. icon. On FaceBook, I looked at the "Options" below the pix, chose "FullScreen", then downloaded them. That may be part of your problem. Otherwise I just get error statements.
Now we need pix with YOU and Cross!! Any nibbles on your other horse?

Sunny and going to be mid-50s today!! We are off to take Daisy to that great farrier at Va Tech this afternoon. She is so easy to travel with, just loads right on and eats hay, no fuss, no muss. I wish the others did as well trailering as she does. Daisy is such a funny horse, we think of her as the equine palomino Bullwinkle. Laughing She looks at the world thru goofy horse glasses... What a Face

Headed to the grocery.............hmmmmm.  I need to find something for a pressure cooker wonder meal.  I'm loving this..  There's nothing to it but
scooping the good food out to a plate.

Diego, which im not crazy about. Harry said bullwinkle since we have a rocky.....he is 14.3, i guess with his stripe on face and a white front coronet band and half a white coronet band on a back foot he would be a sorrel and not a dun. He let me walk right up to him and stood without haltering for over an hour while i brushed him and untangled his wind rowed mane...he loved it. Tommorow the tail, but need some armorall.
Hubby got all clear to ride easy, and can lift up to 50 lbs now from his doctor. Hes happy. Hes doing well.
Ok everyone, im now looking for places to camp with horses for free or doesnt cost a fortune as we r traveling with horses.
Ark, maybe we can ride together after all, slow and easy.

Oh ELLEN, just the mention of food is making me super hungry.  Got a late start fixing my meatloaf, and the smell of it cooking isn't helping me at all!!!!  Whoever mentioned the really broad back on Cross, actually he is broad all over, LOL Wink   Gypsy Vanners are a multi purpose draft-type breed!  In old days they were primarily used to pull gypsy caravans and ridden whenever they weren't pulling.  January 2017 - Page 8 16298410
January 2017 - Page 8 16298410
If this comes through, if I followed ARK's instructions correctly, this is a colt born at the barn, FLF Irish Immanel, who won't be 2 months old till Feb 2nd.  Look at the bone and feathering on this baby.

Yummy, that new meatloaf recipe Robin suggested was delicious! Yes, GM, Robin has a butterball Haflinger, Willow! Robin witnessed my accident and now she wants her nice quiet Willow for trail riding and she will be perfectly matched with Cross.
