ARK: Don't ya just hate when that happens. Two trips to the dentist in a row.

It's raining cats and dogs here again. It's a good thing for us with our water situation, after the kitchen sink nightmare, the upstairs toilet keeps dripping, George deiced he would fix it. NOT...now we are off to buy a new toilet and have a plumber install it. Oh well, always something to let us know we are alive and kicking.

Today is my bestest friend from high school birthday. He & I reconnected thru Classmates years ago and still keep in touch. Bill stopped up here a couple of years ago and George said "that's the guy you should have married instead of your crazy ex Eddie." HAHAHA

GRAYMARE: What a beautiful horse Eli has grown into. Love those shiny yella horses.

ELLEN: Congrats on the new mattress you will sleep better, we got those My Pillow pillows, I don't like mine, but I do sleep better and George says I don't snore anymore with that pillow. So I'll keep using it. I have to admit I do seem to get more sleep with it than my old water pillow.

Off to get my hair cut later today, so I look nice for the tea tomorrow, instead of the bush I am wearing on my head right now.

I was on the go a lot of today, so I didn't get to watch the filly races live. I had set the DVR to record them and I watched them this evening. The Oaks was a really good finish. It looked like there were several who had a chance to get it.

CB, I'm so sorry about that ankle. Get the ice.

Well, today is the day........my two horses are nowhere near the big callers. Girvin is not that well bred but I want him in the money for Rosie & her husband. I wish she would pony him to the gate but that won't happen. My other horse is Patch a one eyed colt with a big heart as far as I'm concerned...............I just watched the profiles of the runners and my two are not "the picks", for sure...........it's always a "crap" shoot so open the gates and see form to function at it's best. Woohoo.

I'm going out now to work with my two pasture winners' picks......they chew well.

Everyone have a great day..........God bless.

This will be our last trip with horses in tow to idaho, sad, but it is what it is...time to let go. Jaemi has friends interested, so i hope they will like them. Jaemi gives lessons and can help with any transition. Both my guys are mellow, good on trails, great at eating and wanting attention....they will push the other away for their turn at getting brushed and petted.

We have talked next year doing work kamping, going to new places, easier to do with just our doggies.

Ankle feels better, i will finish packing inside today and have things ready to pack into camper, but wont do any steps today. I want to be off the roads before memorial day weekend, so if my ankle needs a few days we can sit here and give it time...looking at being there by 24th. We had planned about 5 to 6 day trip...1408 miles.
Let the traveling begin.

I plan on watching the big race today too.

I called dish to put my service on hold, its lots cheaper, but does extend your contract...and was told my service was disconnected...huh! I was watching tv...?  Why was it disconnected? Nonpayment she says.  My payment is on direct pay from my account....so how is that possible? I knew money was there....oh im sorry, you are right..its not disconnected. Welllllll, duh. I knew that, i was watching tv!
Crazeeeee.

It was a good race, and nobody got hurt. Not sure what happened to Thunder Snow, but they said he was walked back to the barn and that initial exam didn't show anything.
Would have been nice to have $2 on the Superfecta; over $75,000 per dollar.

Which horse was bucking coming out the gate?

A lot of horses, 20 of them, and muddy track.

Hubby has trailer painted, ramp attached and dogs use it quite nicely.....

CB, it was Thunder Snow. He was bucking and having a tantrum and unloaded the jockey. The announcers said he was walked back to the barn, as opposed to having to be trailered. Later on, they showed him being led and he wasn't lame. I'm guessing he'll get one more chance and if he fails at that, he'll soon be a gelding.

ThunderPuff is in the kitty hospital at VA Tech.  He has been having some bladder issues and yesterday  his bladder had a blockage.  We took him to his vet who sent him on to Virginia Tech.   They took him right in and have unblocked it.  They said we caught it early, so he was, and is, in good shape.  They are supposed to call us today about picking him up.  Hopefully he won't have another blockage, but you can be sure we will be watching for it.  Our house is so quiet without ThunderPuff charging around in it.

Ark, what do you feed him? Just curious. I have seen lots of bladder problems with kitties, and sometimes a change of food does the trick.
Same for dogs getting really constipated, we would recommend change in diet first thing...

Well, gotz to get busy, have a ankle support on, and im off and running....packing....

Sunshine was bright this morning at 7 am....

Neighbors pit bull went after 2 13 year olds walking in front og our house kast evening....the boys were coming home from playing baseball, i screamed use that bat on him, hit him under the chin.....as we were trying to get to them....dalton listened to me, the dog was down when we got there, another neighbor came out, i wouldnt let him shoot him in the head, but he shot him behind the armpit where i told him, one shot. Bub, the other kid had to get stitches, and the dog had to be tested, no shots....i like dogs....but they need to have shots and be on owners property, not attacking kids who were just walking home. The boys had just stopped to play with my dogs thru my fence and said hi to us and walked 20 feet. Daltons granpa is our landlord, he came by to thank us...he said that dog could have seriously hurt the boys if dalton hadnt known where to strike him.  Hitting or kicking a dog in the throat over the trachea knocks the wind out of the dog, they will fall onto the ground trying to breathe and buy the person precious seconds to get away. Yes, it could possibly kill the dog, but you have to hit pretty hard...but it will knock the wind out of the attack. Police report, owner has to pay hospital bill, and testing on their dog. Glad the boys will be ok....with some time. I hated it...to see them terrified, to see a dog destroyed due to stupid owner.......glad i was sitting out in my yard tho, and could give advice....neighbors were coming out from many houses hearing the boys screaming...it was awful.

I like dogs too, but they can't be allowed to hurt anybody. That must have been an awful scene. Glad the boys weren't seriously hurt. They'll never forget that episode.

It was...awful.  just the fact that several neighbors came running to pull that dog off says a lot about most of our neighbors here....most just had bare hands wading into the frey, but Dalton swung and hit the the dog where i said, and lucky for the neighbors jumping in, the dog was immibilized...or many more could have been bitten. Dalton just brought me some flowers....im embarrassed....but so glad it wasnt worse for the boys or the neighbors helping.
I once broke all toes on my foot kicking a black 120 lb sheperd in the throat as he was attacking, putting him on the ground. I was embarrassed when had to get my toes pushed together and taped when the doc asked me how it happened....and then he asked where it happened....at the humane society where i worked. Dog was killing our mascot pygmy goat....so i did what our vet taught us...it worked. Have had to use it few times over the years...works much better than hitting or kicking anywhere else, so much more effective, but hit hard if you have to do it for emergency.

May 7 at 9:08pm

Liz's daughter just posted this on her FB page. ‎Libby Brett‎ to Liz Barnes

Sunday night update - Mom is still at Southlake, will be for awhile - kidneys are generating a little bit of urine - but creatine level is sky high - specialist today said as long as the kidneys can function we are on the positive side. She spends her days sleeping, nausea is huge problem - she does not want food or anything to drink, this from the coffee addict - so still day by day - going to attempt physio again this week as she has no muscle and everything is breaking down resulting in the rocketing creatine - for those who are going what are you talking about - our normal creatine should be 90 - Mom's is 745 - now to work on motivation otherwise...... — feeling concerned

CB:
That is very interesting info on what to do during a dog attack. Thanks. I hope never to have to try it. I am happy to have a wimp of a dog who lets the cat chase him around.

ThunderPuff is on a prescription diet to lower the Ph of his urine. Very expensive diet....sigh....But if it keeps ThunderPuff alive and happy, it is worth it. He has been on it for a couple of weeks, but apparently it hasn't had time to dissolve the crystals yet.

ThunderPuff came home this evening at about dark. He is tender, but seems to have a working bladder now. He had crystals and mucus in his bladder that formed a plug that blocked his urethra. He is "going" now, but you can tell it doesn't feel too good after the surgical procedure on his tiny private parts... He has to go back to his regular vet sometime this week for a check up, but hopefully the diet will get rid of the crystals and prevent any more blockages. I hope. It is good to have him home!

ELLEN:
Thanks for posting that. I just saw it on FaceBook and was getting ready to post it here. I hope Liz will be okay and feels much better soon.

This afternoon we discovered a lump under Ivan's left knee. It blends right in with his knee and we never noticed it before. His limp is still the same, more at a trot in a tight circle. The bruising on his hoof may be just a coincidence and this lump could be where I heard Daisy kick him a few weeks ago. I couldn't find where she hit him at the time and thought it was a soft body tissue "smack". I have emailed his vet who took care of Kazi's feet at Va Tech and have asked if I can bring Ivan in with Daisy on Tuesday when she gets her feet trimmed there. He may have a bruised cannon bone. Hopefully not a cracked one.

CB, glad things have settled in your neighborhood.  I hope the boys
ease their traumatic event with dogs and learn to enjoy them once again.  Heavens.

Very sad info on LIZ.....sure am praying for her comfort and healing.

ARK, sure hope your trail horse is alright.  It's the "slight" lameness that drives everyone nuts.  Rolling EyesRolling EyesRolling Eyes  Good news on Thunderpuff.  He is precious.

Once again we're reminded that life is special.........God bless.  Prayers for ALL.

The rain has stopped..YEAH...The sun is shinning. It's chilly but I'll take the chilly as long as the sun is out and I'm not getting wet on our walks. Ace doesn't care if he gets wet.

The tea was a success. Everyone had a nice time, lots of fancy little finger foods and tea. It was fun wearing my fancy Kentucky Derby hat.

The Derby was quite a race. Shocked a lot of people with the outcome. Once he got out in front, he stayed there. Smart horse, why get all that mud in your face if you can out run the rest of the pack?

ARK: Poor Thunderpuff and Ivan always something with our furry kids. The food from the vet is always so darn expensive Maybe you can find it somewhere else. I use Chewy.com for the food I feed Ace. They are cheaper than the pet stores and ship for free if you sign up for auto shipping.

CB: Sorry about you getting hurt and now having to move on without the horses in your life. It hurts to have to make that decision. Praying for you. That was a scary situation with the dog and the boys. Thank God you were there to lend a hand. Poor dog. I blame the owners for bad behavior and letting it run free. The dogs always pay the price.

We get to make a last trip to idaho with horsies in tow...our last trail rides.

Stupid owners havnt learned a thing, now their other pit is running loose,....i dont understand it.  And yes, the dog pays for the owners stupidity.  This neighborhood has no leash laws or county regs....its a law unto itself kind of berg.

I like my dogs too much to let them roam and get into trouble.
A majority of campgrounds\rv parks wint let you in now with certain breeds of dogs, one i called wouldnt accept my bulldogs even, so these stupid owners are hurting good dogs and owners.
