A jet ski is the closest thing I have to a horse, so it will have to do.

What a nice surprise! The guy and his son who weed eat my hill in the summer and clean up my leaves in the fall, are working across the street to finish up their leaves. Before they started to work, they brought me a BEAUTIFUL poinsettia plant! That is such a nice thing to do!

CB
Brrrrrr is right! It is cold here, too. We are right on the edge of snow coming up from the south, RICK should already be getting some. It hasn't snowed here yet, but it's only a few miles away. If the weather shifts a little more north, we will get more than I want....which isn't any.

RICK:
My vest is to make me bounce when I have an unplanned dismount, not splat. It inflates when I leave the saddle and protects the neck, ribs, and back.

December 2017 - Page 2 Hitair10

The one I am getting is blue, otherwise it is just like the one in the photo. I sure hope it works! The ground gets harder every year. The first time I came off Areion a couple of years ago, I cracked a rib or two. That wasn't fun....So I have become an equestrian chicken and wear a safety vest. The one I have is hot, thick, and doesn't protect my neck.

ELLEN:
The vest takes a 48cc cylinder. I will look at eBay for them.

The video coming out of California is just horrible. I don't know how anyone survives those fires.

Graymare: I don't usually answer unknown numbers either but with having 2 Christmas parties this week and it was a LOCAL (how do they do that anyway) I thought it was someone canceling one of the parties.
Daughter Missy called me yesterday and read me an article in her newspaper in Maryland where a 81 year old received one of those calls and spent $5000 in gift cards from Sam's Club, called the guy back and gave him the numbers and pin numbers before she called her grandson to check on him. So sad. And one of my friends friend lost $2000 to the scam. I hope the people who do that nasty stuff rot in hell.

The Barnabas team Christmas party is over and the MOPH party is tonight, then I can relax and maybe enjoy the holiday. I did get all my packages mailed on Thursday, most of our cards are addressed and ready to be sent and the trees are decorated so all I have to do is bake the Lady Lock cookies, a 2 day job and get food in for Christmas dinner.

TRUDY, I understand, it's so confusing. I hope they rot in he ll, too. Good chance.
Glad you're off now for the holiday, you deserve a good one.

Today is Saturday and I'm finished with chores and it's 10A. Good grief.
I'm going to bake cookies again. Of course, if I bake 24, I eat 10. Progress,
at that rate is slow.................. rendeer santa

God bless. Prayers for ALL.

We had snow today, about 4 or 5 inches.  When Travis got off work this afternoon, he claimed that he had to work on his cousin's snowmobile.  Therefore, it was absolutely necessary that he take a quick run on it.  Very Happy  I was laughing as he ran down the road and back.  Winter snow is his very favorite thing.
Tomorrow, he'll probably get out the snowblower and clear my sidewalk, although it doesn't need it all that much.  A broom will do it.  He just likes to play in the snow.

I love the picture of the kitty and the tree. Smile

ELLEN:
I bet Travis gets to play in lots of snow this winter. I am glad someone will be happy with it! Very Happy

That is ThunderPuff admiring the Christmas tree. The photo is hot off the camera/phone, I took it this evening.

So how did the coasters come out? That is a nice idea for presents, I looked at the website for the blanks.

We got about 2 inches of snow here, just enough to be pretty, not enough to do much damage.

The coasters that I did with a wreath design were okay and I could do lots of those if I wanted to. But, the ones with the Glitterflex were much better. I stitched a snowflake onto the sparkly stuff. Those were fun to make. I'll probably make lots of those, already planning ahead for next year.
The Glitterflex would work being added to shirts or anything else that needs some sparkle.

I was wondering about DOT.........are the fires a threat to her. I don't hear from her anymore, just wondering if she & horses are OK as the fires look threatening there.
I hope she's OK, for sure.

I certainly don't know for sure, but I think Dot should be okay. She's about half way between Los Angeles and San Diego, and farther east. I haven't heard from her in a long time.

Hey, Ark! I did it. It still isn't as easy as it used to be, but I got it.

The glitter in the coaster doesn't show up nearly as well in the photo as it does in real life.

ELLEN:
Oh!  That's very pretty!  I just uploaded your red coaster, I will post it, too.  These should make very nice holiday gifts....great idea!

December 2017 - Page 2 Ellenc10

I don't know how to do the photos from the phone either, I just downloaded it to my computer and put it here from it.  I should work on the phone angle....

GRAYMARE:
I have been following DOT on Facebook.  So far, she isn't directly threatened, unless it happened today.  The thing is, that seems to be able to change very quickly.  They thought they would have lots more time to get those horses away from the racetrack stables, but the wind blew it right towards them much faster than they could handle.  It is so sad.  I don't know what I would do with all my animals in such an emergency.  I hope DOT stays safe.  I think she has about 30 horses, it would be a hard decision as to which would get to leave quickly.

CB:
We were at 28 this morning, and it never got much higher, although above freezing.  Brrrr is right!  Donnie has been working on installing the new dishwasher, so I got to do all the outside work myself.  He usually helps on weekends.   After two trips to Lowes for parts, the dishwasher is still in the middle of the kitchen floor.  I guess that is better than the livingroom....

I may go caroling on horseback next Saturday!  Lori and a friend are organizing it for the Blacksburg area.  I would take Ivan, I might live longer than if I took Areion and she had to listen to me sing from her back. affraid
If it works out, we are supposed to decorate ourselves up for Christmas.  It just so happens, I have horsey decorations  from parades past!   santa

Ark, I went to Picturetrail and found a line that showed three different ways to upload photos, one was from a mobile. They give you an e-mail address to which you send the photo. Then, it's like the others to choose what format to put on a forum. It was pretty quick.
I wish you could actually see how sparkly they really are.

We'll need caroling pictures, of course. That's a fun idea.

The MOPH Christmas party was a success. Now I am partied out and can relax and enjoy the rest of the month and not be worried about snow ruining anything. We only got a few flakes from the storm we were supposed to have.

I went with my girlfriends yesterday to see the movie Wonder. Pretty moving movie. I swear my neighbor Antoinette could have written then movie about her family with her daughter Celeste having spina bifida and being confined to a wheelchair all her life and her older daughter Erica being a problem child. I kept thinking "omg that must have been how Erica felt when she was growing up." She was acting out because of all the attention that was given to Celeste over the years. Erica was much worse than the girl in the movie.

I baked the Lady Lock cookies on Monday. Now we just have to find time to fill them. Maybe tomorrow. I made 130 of the little buggers. WHEW...That is my last large project for the holidays.

ELLEN: Loved the coasters. Very nice.

ARK: Caroling on horseback. That sounds like a lot of fun. I would scare the the horses if I started singing. ROFL

The snow finally started this evening. The temperature had come up so it was a wet snow that clings to my satellite dish. I got out one of the big (BIG) squirt guns and stood in the street trying to blow the snow off the dish with warm water. My aim wasn't all that good. Thankfully, Travis was out playing on the snowmobiles, and I got him to come help me out. His aim was a lot better and just a couple of good showers cleared the dish off without anybody climbing on the roof. Smile
He was laughing while he did it. But, it worked.
