| ROSE: Oh, good. I am glad you didn't get as much storm as the last one. Have lots of fun riding!! Good for you getting back in the saddle!! RICK: Dorian was a non-event for us, too. We got some nice breezes, that was it. I'll be thinking of you next Tuesday! CB: Congrats on the new horses! Yep, you may as well stay busy. Hope it works out great! ELLEN: Congrats on the stray boat! You need a project, right? Maybe a summer person set it free when they left for home. I think Donnie is ready to make something to pump the creek water up to our field. He doesn't like it when his hay fields don't do well. The lower field was pretty good, despite the lack of rain. GRAYMARE: I think DONNA may be more affected by the hurricane than expected. I heard they were getting pounded. I wish she would check in when she can. I think we may have hitched our wagon to a star with this new carpenter... When he is here, he works pretty hard. He is hardly ever here and never calls to let us know not to wait for him. He worked about 4 hours all last week. Today Donnie and I started working on the arena fence ourselves. We'll get it done way before he will. He should have had the arena fencing about done by now....sigh.... | |

| I hope Donna is fine........people don't realize how bad the NE and Nova Scotia can be..........I'll wait a couple of days and send Donna an e mail. If she was in the storm it will give her time to recuperate.
Rex got groomed today and really struts his stuff............it's a riot.
Everyone have a great evening...........tell us about your ride today, ROSE.

| Good morning everyone. So happy to hear that the storm didn't ruin anyone's homes. Nothing came to PA.
It's been a extra busy month already and it's only the 9th. Hopefully the rest of the month slows way down. Since all of our helpers have been hurt, we have come out of the retirement life and have been digging in the dirt, hauling stone and all the fun stuff we gave up a couple a years ago.
ARK: Our contractors haven't shown up yet either. They do great work when they manage to get here, but getting them here is another story. Unfortunately we can't climb up on the house roof and replace it so wait wait and wait until they show up. Hopefully before winter sets in.
Had my little Barnabas Ministry picnic on Saturday, lots of planning and work went into it, but it was well worth it, everyone had a blast as the morning meeting team and evening meeting teat got to know each other better. What a great group.
Wednesday on 9/11 we have another hearing with baby Gemma, this is a visitation hearing. Praying 9/11 isn't a ominous date for us. Her mother wants more visitation, my heart aches for her losing her children but it was her choice to do the heroin and Gemma didn't ask for the treatment she received, she had no choice. So pray for Gemma on Weds. She gets very anxious when she has to visit with her mother. Who knows what went on there. So sad.
CB: That is so cool with the blind horse rehab you are doing. Way to go girl...you will do great things for the horse. I'm so sorry I missed seeing you when you were here in PA...I felt awful but that was the week from hell around here.
Love & prayers for everyone....
Have a great week everyone.

| The slicing and dicing on shoulder is scheduled to begin at 12:15 Tuesday. Preop interviews done this morning via telephone. Don't know if I'll be overnight or not, but Carol would be happy if it was for a week or more I'm not too terribly concerned ... supposedly I have "the best" doc for this kind of procedure. Ill see you folks on the flip side!! | |

| I'm adding my prayers for Rick's shoulder, and for little Gemma to get what is best for her. Watching little kids have to deal with this sort of thing is always heartbreaking.
Summer is going to come back for a few days. That's okay with me. I'm not ready for full blown fall yet.

| GOOD news /BAD news: Good news-- Surgery was virtually flawless yesterday and I had the best night of sleep since I fell July 29th. I had been dreading not being able to side sleep, but with an elevated bed and "leftover" meds from surgery I slept very nicely. Nurses were very nice … food was very good.
BAD news: Forbidden to Drive for at least two weeks until after next checkup with Dr. office. I had planned on attending NC State Grange Convention starting tomorrow evening until Sunday. Carol and Charlotte unable to take me and I don't know who else west of me that's going that I could thumb a ride with so I've canceled out. I was supposed to be a voting "delegate". Oh well … sometimes life hands out unsqueezed lemons and I just got a big box at one time.
Glad to hear Rose is OK and getting back in saddle again. I'm jealous !! LOL!!

| Rick, I'm really glad to hear that all went well, and that you'll be a lot closer to normal in a couple of weeks.
My friend in Lexington is selling 21 yearlings at the Keeneland sale, which is underway now and for the next week and a half. I was watching the live stream. Her horses are doing well, but there is one filly by American Pharoah and out of Leslie's Lady. That baby sold for $8,200,000. Yes. MILLION!!! Leslie's Lady has already produced some big winners. But $8.2M ????!!!! WOW!

| RICK: Hurray, the surgery is over! Now just get well and do your P.T. That's the worst part, but it does actually work. Sorry you couldn't go to the convention. Do they do these every year? You can certainly go next time, I'm sure. GRAYMARE: I did see that DONNA was fine, just lost a few branches. Her son fared worse, his power was out longer. CB: So how's the new horse doing? Keeping you busy? ELLEN: Good for your friend! That is quite a price for an unproven filly. We are definitely in summer heat here, about 90 with killer humidity. I have to admit, I am a bit tired of such hot weather. We did FINALLY get a good thunderstorm yesterday! You could hear the grass slurping it up. I think it's been over a month since we got any rain here, although there have been several storms go just around us. My riding friend's husband had a major stroke 13 days ago. He is 82, but had been in great shape. He keeps hanging on somehow with no extraordinary medical help. His wife has had a very hard time. It is very sad. | |

| I went back to read what I wrote, and I wasn't clear at all. The high priced filly did NOT belong to my friend. Her yearlings are more in the range of $200,000-400,000. | |

| ELLEN: Well your friend is still making a nice chunk of change on her horses! Good for her!! It was incredibly hot here again today, 92 I think. Humidity beyond belief.... The horses didn't want to go out, they preferred to stay in the shade of the barn. So, of course, I gave them hay and cleaned up after them in the evening. They had fans in the barn to stir the breeze a bit. It's supposed to drop into the high 70s tomorrow, it will feel like fall. I bought a bright red bridle on sale. Ivan's is blue and Areion's is black. We need some color around here. | |

| I am very happy for my friend and her husband. They have worked very hard to get where they are. Neither of them came from money families, so they had to be smart and work hard. They are good at matching mares and stallions to get good foals.
It's been hot and humid here too, and will mostly stay that way for another week.

| Hi all,
They're predicting rain here but so far, nothing..........we have intermittent storms around us, but nothing here. It was cool, cloudy, and breezy around us but no go here. I put the horses out anyhow.
I haven't. heard from DONNA yet.......my e mail was not returned so I don't know.
Everyone have a good day.

| Lunch today with Friend Sherry. We always seem to find plenty to talk about. Today's weather started out gloomy and foggy, but has turned out to be a super nice day. Now, it's going to get hot and humid again.
I'm excited and getting organized and packed to go back to Lexington again in a few days. It's really going to HOT and HUMID there, but we'll have fun anyway.
