| ELLEN, That was really sweet of you to make the big sock for him! Did you do it in Christmas colors? He could use it as a Christmas stocking next year. The big green blob got us. I don't know how much rain we got, but the mud is horrendous. Going into the peacock dome is like walking on muddy ice, it is so slick in there. If I slip and fall in there, I will have to be hosed off outside. Donnie will never let me back in the house . | |

| No, I just used a boring gray because that was the yarn I had on hand. I thought about it later that I should have at least decorated it somehow. | |

| The winds were calm last night, and the lake froze over completely. Although, we're supposed to get some milder weather this next week, so the ice will probably go away the first time we get a little bit of wind. This morning, there were about 200 geese, few swans, and some gulls resting on top of the ice. | |

| I guess I'm farther out of the horse world than I thought. Today, they were showing arena polo. I didn't even know that particular version of polo existed. It's a much faster scoring game than traditional field polo U.S. Trust beat Flexjet. The game I saw was played in Central Park, NYC. | |

| Speaking of CB, where is she? ELLEN I never heard of that type of polo either. I bet it was fun to watch! After your neighbor's foot heals, you could decorate the sock for next year....maybe embroider a colorful cuff and attach it to the sock.... We had sunshine today!! | |

| RICK Yikes! I can see Areion doing that very thing. Just about every day she splashes the water out of her trough, then drags it around for awhile. If I had a water trough as big as the pictured one, she would probably be in it. Then I would have to buy a forklift..... I saw another photo of a horse who managed to get its entire body inside a big tractor tire. I won't be getting one of those, either. CAROL! Wacha up to? CB Keep trying. Have you got your capitals correct? I will send you a new password tomorrow evening if you haven't gotten on by then. I am not on my computer this evening. Lesson day tomorrow, so of course it is going to be cold and windy. | |

| Well, drat! I ran out of lights. Several strings of lights wouldn't turn on this year. I've bought some to replace them, but didn't get enough. So, I'll have to get more tomorrow to finish up.
My neighbors were grateful for the sock I made for his sore foot so they took me to dinner at the Legion where they have GREAT broasted chicken, which is another name for fried chicken. Boy, oh boy, was that good! That place also has really good homemade gravy for the homemade mashed potatoes. | |

| Chickens have pretty nice teeth, RICK! Okay, I am back. The past few days have been busy, busy. I had a nice lesson on both Ivan and Areion on Thursday. Both were mellow and fun. I have spent all week getting ready for the parade, which occurred today. It is amazing the time I spend getting ready for these things. I am not sure weddings have more preparations, at least, I don't think mine did. Lori had a pup-sitter problem, so Chase got to be in the parade with Trinket instead of Areion going. Ivan was VERY alert, but despite 2 trains going by within a hundred feet, and all the ruckus of a getting ready for the parade with all the comings and goings of floats, kids, dogs, horses, vehicles, etc., he didn't freak out. Not even when we put a hat on Trinket. He has a thing about hats. The parade was a bit over 2 miles long. Donnie followed us with the decorated trailer, so got some pix. We started with me walking Ivan until we were past the busiest downtown section, then I got on him and rode for awhile. He was doing really well....until the sun popped up as we topped a hill. It was blinding. I couldn't see anything but sun reflections on the road and I guess Ivan couldn't either. He started spooking at nothing, slipping on the pavement, so I got off and walked. He was okay, then. At about that time, Trinket decided she had had enough parade and stopped in the middle of the road. She held up the parade, the horses in front of us got further and further away. Lori decided Trinket needed 'to go', and wasn't going to do it in public. So at a little over the mile mark, we pulled out of the parade and let the very relieved people behind us go by. We only did half of the parade, but in general, Ivan did much better than he did last year and I did get to ride for awhile. That was a first in a parade for us. He didn't pull my arms out of their sockets and despite all the hoopla, was well behaved. | |

| Glad you had so much fun ARK…………..Ivan looks great. Chase & Trinket look hysterical together, really cute. Your Christmas hat and tack sure add a happy feeling to the pictures and lifts my Christmas spirits. Preparing Faith or Isaiah for a parade is worse than moving……….Walking down my road, waving, and yelling Merry Christmas is my best shot at it………..
We have a few new horses on our road as a neighbor is boarding a couple of horses. So now we have 2 kids, girls, about 8-9 or so getting off the school bus there. They really are darling. They rode by the other day after school bareback on each of their steeds……………just like the old years. One was sitting backwards on her horse, reins on the neck, not in her hands at all, plodding along on Dobbin and the other was singing real loud walking along on her horse. No helmets, no saddles, just million dollar horses…………….I LOVE seeing kids being kids on horses. At horse shows they have 10-12 people all yelling at them telling them what to do and they're crying half the time. It seems we have life backwards these days. Ha, in the same genre one of the kids a couple of weeks ago had a new bike, helmet, elbow pads, training wheels, and a screaming grandma yelling instructions………………Seriously, we humans are the funniest…………..I just shake my head and say it's cuz it's 2014 with life really in control. ARK, you keep the happiness in horses and enjoy…………….
Everyone have a good day……………we have another storm coming in tomorrow so have the horses out and will stay out til it hits……………..
God bless………….. | |
