Moses sounds like a fortunate horse! wavy I hope he lives a good long life with your friend. I know someone whose mare lived to be 42, so Moses has a chance!

Rainy, rainy here since yesterday. First thing I did this morning was slip in the muddy muck of the chicken/peacock enclosure and land in it. rake Second thing I did was to buy a new pair of boots with actual traction at Tractor Supply. They are cute and on sale. I hope they last longer than the ones I bought in years past...

The rain is supposed to last thru tomorrow.

Flat Stanley arrived today. I have already written a letter and will get it sent to the school on Monday, and will send Stanley on to his next destination.

I love hearing about the lady with her first horse. That is so wonderful for her. I so well remember when I got my first horse all those years ago. That was probably the most exciting day of my life.

Trudy, tie that boy to the bed! LOL But, in reality, it's good to hear that he is being feisty which means he is feeling better.

We have had WONDERFUL weather all this week while the cousins have been here. Once again, they have helped me sooo much, getting some tree trimming done and making a flower bed and planting tulip bulbs. We trimmed a couple of trees for my neighbor too. That merited a couple of cases of beer for my cousin with the pole chainsaw.
I just couldn't do without my cousins.

Anthony has had another set back, when the doctors inserted the balloon to try and open his throat they found his voice box has a dent in it and that is what is cutting off his air, they thought the balloon would fix it but nope. A trio of specialists are being gathered together to do a special operation where they cut his throat open and try to fix the voice box. His attitude is worse than ever, I'm sure he is scared to death but acting out never solves anything, it just makes the nurses mad. It's all in the hands of God and specialists.

CB: Yes, he has need a good spanking since he was small, always a problem child, spoiled rotten and not by Gram and Pap, but by his mother who refused to discipline him and allowed him to run wild and blame anything that happened to him on someone else. Very sad. I warned her for years about treating him like that.

GRAYMARE: How wonderful your friend has her first horse, I rode all my life, but when I bought my first horse, what a moment in time that was, one of the best days of my life. I kept him until he crossed the bridge at age 27. I still miss him.

ARK: We made applesauce yesterday. What fun with the new large Foley Food Mill, so much easier than with the small one my friend Barb gave us. Still have 3 bags of apples to get done someday this week if all goes according to plan. HAHAHAHA We make plans and God laughs.

ELLEN: Sounds like your visit with your cousins went well and everyone had a nice time. How's your weather? Ours has been delightful with fall temps, no more 90's I hope.

Thanks for all the prayers everyone, they are so appericated.

Love & prayers for all.

Trudy, the humming continues...I sure hope they can fix him and. he heals and can go home. he just isn't old enuf yet to realize he might not be here...and to appreciate his caregivers and families who care. I'd say he is typical for todays teens.

Went to a horse auction in springfield, some nice horses but nothing that stood out. not very many horses there. springfield use to have the biggest sales, but now the bolivar auction is. its a much smaller auction but it has. been packed with horses, and bringing decent prices. bolivar is 21 miles from us, so is much closer.

Yesterday we went to an estate auction. harry filled our car with his great buys. I bought a couple of flower pots...he came home with his treasures and we only spent 23 dollars.
A good day of entertainment and weather was great. I sat and talked to some other women from the area while our menfolk were buying the he man stuff.... nice day in all.

Poopie pen is finished and they go in it this morning. they will be in the house in a part of huge kennel which will leads to the covered porch which leads to their own fenced play yard outside. happy puppies! Hoping to have housebroke puppies!

this afternoon we r going to a casino in boonnville with 2 of my cousins....having lunch and playin some penny slots!

Monday will find us hard at work on the horse shelter roof....and tuesday taking a load of scrap to recycle place....doing major cleanup around all buildings....before winter and his surgery. I do not want anywhere where a snakeypoo can hide. that scare the bejeeeeezas out of me and my tank was low anyhow! affraid

Oh TRUDY. Sad set of affairs for Anthony. An indulged child/youth sure
makes problems for the entire family. Hopefully his surgical team has an answer for his throat. I also hope and pray for you that his parents have some sort of epiphany and set some parameters. This is a tough situation to be in for Gram & Pap as Anthony's mom doesn't get it. Prayers for you to have peace and for Anthony's healing.

ELLEN, glad you got your trees trimmed and your new flower beds in.

Have a great day everyone.

Did anyone watch the eclipse? Fascinating.............I watched as this was one that won't be back in my lifetime. I parked my chair out in the barn area and just sat and watched listening to the horses much........really odd to see the eclipse moving across the moon and interesting to see it turn orange red.
And then, back to plain moon.

For awhile it seemed like watching paint dry but it all came through.

We were all set to go out on a boat to watch the eclipse, but it was cloudy here, so we didn't get to see any of it.

We watched it on our drive home from the casino...and then took one last look before we fell into bed....we never saw the red tho...but that moon was bright and big.

Harry lost 15 dollars and I broke even and we played for 8 hours!....so didn't do badly at all. we kept winning enuf to keep us playing and got a free dinner too. we each take a 20 bill and that's our limit...it is strictly a nice day out....with hopes of winning really big on the penny machines! lol

Well, gotz to go get our truck at the garage, had some seals put in.....so later y'all

GRAYMARE
No eclipse for us. It has been raining and cloudy for the past three days. We would have enjoyed seeing that. More rain coming on Wednesday, this time from the Gulf. I got caught down at the barn during a cloudburst the other day. It was very nice watching the rain with the horses as they munched on their hay. For them it was dinner with a show... Very Happy

ELLEN
Great cousins!! Nice when things get done fast.

TRUDY
I hate to admit it, but I never got the new Foley machine out of the box. I fed most of the apples to the horses. Congrats on you getting it done!
I hope Anthony's operation has gone well.

CB
You do have fun places to go! Donnie got his test results back, no Lyme disease. They are scheduling an MRI for his knees.

Daisy has been drooling great gobs of clear mucus since last Thursday. Not just saliva, but sticky, gooey clear mucus. She eats normally, which for her means everything she can get. She isn't off, is quite cheerful, just leaving puddles of slime that could be used to glue things. The vet is coming tomorrow to check out her mouth and throat for damage or sticks or something. Daisy is very creative with her injuries. Rolling Eyes

Whew! All is quiet on the western front. The cousins all left today. I am always glad to have them here, and they are all so willing to help do whatever needs to be done. But, I have to admit, I breathe a small sigh of relief when my house is back to normal. They always leave everything in such good shape that all I have to do is vacuum the floor and wash a load of towels.

After the troops headed south, Travis and I pulled his big speed boat and both our jet skis out for the winter. He power washed all of them, and will get them winterized and shrink wrapped for storage until spring.

Everything here is done; just waiting for the leaves to change color and fall, then the work starts again.

Ark, I remember a horse years ago that had a little stick wedged in the back of his mouth. Once the vet got that out, all was well.

Glad to hear that Donnie doesn't have Lyme disease, and hope they can find a solution for his knees. He's had to live with that for a long time.

Rain. More rain. Lots more coming this weekend. tongue

ThunderPuff is at the vet's clinic for his life altering operation today. He will come home tomorrow as ThunderPuff-Lite. It is so quiet here without him. The cat fills up space. Kumquat is having a relaxing day off. She plays the part as target for Puff. I think she misses him.

ThunderPuff-Lite, I like that. LOL

I hope this morning isn't any indication of how the rest of my day is going to go. I have a window that is cracked. A few weeks ago I took the window in to the glass shop to have it measured and they ordered the glass. So this morning I was going to stop in on my way to work with the window to have them replace the glass. I put the window in my car and take off only to be reminded that I am almost out of gas. So because I must run errands on my lunch I need to get gas first. The gas station is in the opposite direction of the glass shop. I get gas and head over to the glass shop only to find out the road I had planned to take was closed. And because the glass shop is on the opposite side of the railroad tracks I have to not only detour due to the road being closed, but also to get on the other side of the tracks. Of course the detour takes me out of my way (again). I get to the glass shop, they tear the window apart only to find out the glass they ordered is too big. Someone evidently can't read a tape measure. So they put the window all back together with the cracked glass for me to use until the new glass comes in again. Thankfully the window is only cracked and not broken. It could have been worse. The cracked glass could have broken when they removed it from the frame. Look for the silver lining, right?

Some days are just like that. Nothing goes in straight lines. There are lots of unexpected twists and turns to get anything accomplished. I take that where you got the glass they didn't have a glass cutter. Too big should be easy to fix.
IN 13 is closed due to a bridge being repaired/replaced. It's taken them forever to get it done; it's been out since late June and was supposed to be done by mid September. Yeah. Right. Still not done. So all the traffic detours through the little lake roads rather than to take the ridiculously long detour the state suggests. Our already bad roads are taking a beating and getting worse.
After everything happening this morning, the rest of your day has to be better.
How's Sophie doing with the driving now?
