GRAYMARE: I am so glad Isaiah is doing okay. Colics are so scary. Kazi colicked, twice, on Christmas Eves. Poor vets. She recovered then. It always seems to happen on holidays or the coldest days of the year. Heated water buckets and some kind of wet mash seems to help with prevention. We put our heated water buckets up a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully they will keep on drinking in cold weather.
We are getting lots of freezing rain and ice pellets. Almost no snow, so far. Everything is covered in ice. So far our power hasn't gone off. The horses are all in the barn munching on hay. The dog and I got nice and wet taking care of them this morning.
ROSE: The painting is coming along.... I should be able to finish it in a couple more days, but getting it to you before Christmas may not be too easy.

Glad to hear recovering from colic.
Nothing exciting happening here. The temps have dropped below freezing so I have had to switch to winter watering procedures. It's more work because I have to haul the hose in and out to keep it from freezing, but that is part of the joy of owning horses where it snows. I've been fortunate that I've been able to go this long. Tonight I hook up the water tank heater to keep the water from freezing. There goes the electric bill. LOL
Christmas oranges from the local Lions club get delivered tonight. They are always the best oranges and it supports a good cause.

Graymare, how is Isaiah today?
The ground was white this morning, but just barely. Areas to the south of us got more. The funny part was Travis using his "new" snow blower to clear the half inch of snow off my driveway. He was given a 1971 model snow blower after Neighbor Ron died a year ago. In Travis' words, it's a beast. He couldn't wait to try it out. It had been extremely well cared for, so he didn't have to do anything to it to get it to run. He was grinning from ear to ear. Snow won't stand a chance of staying on the ground in our neighborhood this winter. It's getting cold enough to start seeing some ice on the ponds and in protected channels. If we get a couple of windless nights, there will be more. Indy, how much snow did you get?

We got our first official snow last night, but not enough to use a snowblower. It would be easier to just sweep it off the drive with a broom. That's ok with me seeing how last night I committed myself to keeping the neighbor's drive clear for her this winter. She's 88 and no longer drives and her family lives on the other side of town. (Insert eye roll) We had a nice visit last night and I heard all about how hard it was for her family to get over to see her especially now that the weather was getting bad.
I also got the water tank heater plugged in last night and the horses drank about a third of the tank over night. That's ok w/me. The more they drink the less likely they are colic. How's your guy doing GM?

GRAYMARE: Happy to hear that Isiah is fine and pooping up a storm. That colic stuff is so scary.
Yes we have SNOW. I HATE snow...we have about 12" almost more than we had all last winter. George got his snowblower out and made paths for Ace to find a potty place, I shoveled off the ramp and deck, Rick came over and helped clear it away, then neighbor Mark came down with his truck and plowed out the driveways. Did I mention that I HATE SNOW?????
The township did not bother to plow our road until around 2 in the afternoon. No important person lives here so they don't care. A little old lady in a small car got her car stuck on the bend and was blocking the entire road. Why would she try to drive on this road in the winter, certainly she could see it was not plowed. Another truck tried to get around her. NOPE, he was stuck too..here comes our our friend on his little John Deere on his way to plow our another older neighbor, he had to turn around and go home. The township truck drove down to the blocked road and tried to go around them. OMG....They finally got everyone unstuck and turned around. That's a lot of excitement for our neighborhood. No mail yesterday. So much for that old saying about the Post Office...snow does stop the mail. LOL Our mailman was smart enough not to try to come down our road.
I fed Rick lunch before he went back home and invited him back for dinner, he only lives 3 miles form here but once he got back home he stayed home. The drive over was no fun. That was our exciting day. I thank God for Rick everyday.
All that and Ace trying to find a bathroom spot. No chance of him searching for the perfect spot like he usually does. There is a bare spot and that's it. He is such a fussy dog, can't have the snow touch his butt. LOL The barn cats were pretty funny too. They kept leaping off the path trying to leap over the snow and ending up buried in the deep snow. The smart cats stayed in the barn.
One good thing about being retired...we didn't have to go anywhere and still don't. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

While I would not encourage the continued mispronunciation of the 'r' sound, I think it is sooo cute when he sings, 'Wum, pa pa pum".

Happy winter solstice. Be sure to see Jupiter &. Saturn overlap tonight as it hasn't happened in 800 years........it will look like the star of Bethlehem. Very exciting..................Here in AZ it's about 6:30 P.

I saw the news talking about that. But, I think we will have too much cloud cover to be able to see anything.
Where is CB? And Beech? We haven't seen anything of them for a long long time.

I saw the crossover of Saturn & Jupiter, I think.......It was bright and clear but I didn't have a telescope to really see it.......SO, what I'm saying is I think that was it. Since I'm not a constellation expert by any means I don't pretend to have any expertise. I will wait until they show it on the news and see if I was right. Two or three of the neighbors were out looking also.

I was hoping to see the planets merge, but the clouds were heavy, so no luck.

It was a bright blue, clear day all day yesterday....until sundown. Then it clouded over completely and we didn't get to see the planets/star. Darn it. I guess we will have to wait another 800 years to see it again.
We finally put up our inflatable Santa and a Christmas cat yesterday. It is so windy, they are having a hard time. They only have a week to be up, so hopefully they will survive!

I have one more package to wrap. Unfotunately, they may stay wrapped for months. I hope not.
Is anyone else watching The Curse of Oak Island? It would seem that island was the Grand Central Station of the 1200s, 1300s, and more. The Lagina Brothers have found all kinds of artifacts from several different countries and time periods. I would like to have just the money from one season of digging. Whew! From what they have found so far, it indicates that somebody in the past went to a LOT of trouble to hide something.

ELLEN: I haven't seen that show, but it looks like a fun one. I wonder if DONNA, who lives in Nova Scotia, knows about this show?
We were able to see the Christmas Star this evening. The planets were a little further apart than they were last night, but the sky was clear and we had a good view. It was cloudy last night. Donnie took pix thru a telescope he has using my cellphone. Not perfect, but something to look at. I could see the rings of Saturn and some of the moons of Jupiter thru the telescope.
We got a trailer of firewood and unloaded it today. The people we bought it from were supposed to deliver, but their dump truck has issues. So our hay trailer, named T-Puff, got to haul the firewood.

Ark, I read about Oak Island in 1968 when Readers' Digest had and article about it. And, that is when 11 year old Rick Lagina first became obsessed with the idea. People have been trying to get to the treasure since 1795. There are a lot of guesses as to what the treasure is, but so far, nobody has been able to get to it. The first treasure hunters dug down and found several platforms made of logs. They got down to where they thought they were close to the treasure, but booby traps let sea water flood in. There has been a lot of major construction all over that island, all done sometime in the 1700s, and before. The Laginas have put a FORTUNE into trying to find out what is there. For them, it is much more than just finding treasure; it's the curiosity of seeing how it was done and what is so important to make it so hard to get to. The show is on TV on Tuesday evenings.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone. Have a safe and healthy Christmas.
I'm off to church today for our Christmas Eve Service. It won't be as spectacular as last years service, attendance is way down but me and my girlfriends will be there, singing and holding our candles up high.

Merry Christmas Eve!!
We just took inflatable Santa and his cat down, the wind is howling and he would end up flying away. It rained all day and will snow possibly late tonight. We may get some kind of white Christmas, but it is okay if it misses us... Cold and windy tomorrow.
We got the barn done during a break in the rain. Horses and donkey are snug in their beds tonight. I am hoping they say nice things about us at midnight.

We've had a very pleasant Christmas Day, despite the 3 or 4 inches of snow, wind, and temps not even 20 degrees. It's going to be 12 degrees tonight... ouch.
This is the first white Christmas we've had here in Virginia in years. Pretty.
