It's going to snow tonight. I am not thrilled. We got feed and groceries today, restocked the animals' supplies, got in some firewood, retrieved out cat from the vet, and arranged for the farrier to come on Monday instead of Friday. I guess we are ready. Now it won't snow!

Kitten news: Feather got 'fixed' today. She is home again and while a bit sedated, is eating and moving around. No more kitten heats! That is good news....

It's awful quiet. I can give a weather report for Northern Indiana. Overcast and damp. Hovering around freezing. Most definitely could be worse. The ice and little bit of snow we got last weekend is gone. Only evidence is all the broken tree limbs. The power company hasn't been out yet to remove the limb from the line, but I have lost power yet so no biggie.
Looking forward to seeing Rose's new horse.

We still have some snow on the ground. Not a lot. It's just messy now. Absolutely nothing going on around here.

It snowed all day here, but was warm enough to keep it to about 3 inches on the ground. It won't be around long. The horses ate hay most of the day instead of going out into the field. When we cleaned up the stall Areion was in overnight, it looked like she had held a poop party for all her friends. We ended up stripping the entire stall and rebedding it. She had it all stirred up. So Daisy is back in the stall tonight. She can be messy, but not as much as what Areion did.
Feather is feeling fine. Drugs are good, says she. She gets a pain pill for two more days. She is so cute.
My sister, Vicki, was on tv today! She was getting a Covid 19 vaccine shot at the hospital where she volunteers at their hospice and was interviewed by channel 5 out of Cincinnati. She's a star!
So I guess I did have a little news after all!

FINALLY! A sunny day. Indy's perma-gloom has been around for a long time. Cold, but sunny.
I did watch the Colts end their season today. Then watched an assortment of non-exciting TV shows.

Snow again off and on all day today...again. Still not much in accumulation, it's a bit too warm. It felt really cold and damp, though. Ivan got his toes trimmed today by the farrier and was a model citizen.
We are taking our shaggy dog to be groomed tomorrow morning. He is in dire need of a bath and have shedded hair removed. I hope they do a reasonable job.

We had a few minutes of very light snow early today. Hardly enough to even count as snow.
I have been watching the Ohio State/Alabama game. There has been some game, but there have been soooo many commercials! Very tiresome. My Ohio cousins aren't happy campers. OSU gave it a good try, but Bama is just too strong.

Ark, is Shadow all squeaky clean and soft again?
Graymare, I'm sure the drugstore is glad you caught their mistake. Lawsuits cost them a lot.
I have a big chuck roast cooking in the Instant Pot. Another hour and I will have dinner.

Yep, Shadow is squeaky clean and mat free. Poor dog is exhausted, he must have had to stand up for hours while they worked on him. We didn't get home until dark, he arrived there at 9 a.m. He also got shots, which may be making him a bit draggy, too.
Shadow has a small place under his nose that is a bit suspicious. It may be nothing more than a Feather inflicted injury, but the vet wants to watch it in case it is something worse. Feather is pretty hard on Shadow, who seems to enjoy it...
Feather, on the other hand, is feeling fine after her spay last week. Here she is showing off her surgery scar....

A bit of good news. Indiana opened Covid vaccinations to anyone over 70. Getting through the overcrowded website too a little time, but I am on the list for the 27th. Never thought I would be excited to get a shot. (Needles don't bother me anyway.)

ELLEN: That's great! I am looking forward to that shot, too. Donnie found out today that his company is getting shots, they are listed as an essential industry. He will be getting a shot soon. Unfortunately, spouses aren't invited....sniff....
Shadow feels back to normal today, he was his usual self. He never barks in the house, but while outside barks at every passing truck, trailer, or tractor. He barked a lot today.

Indiana has a website for scheduling, and a list of all the locations. The website worked well this evening. Earlier in the day, everybody and his grandpa was online and it was hard to get through. My local county was all booked up for the foreseeable future, but I found a neighboring county where I could go. It's only about 25 miles. I will gladly drive that distance.
Happy Shadow. It's his job to greet everything that goes by.

Our positivity rate is still 23%............Covid shots are WAY behind so I'm not even on a list yet.

AWW Shadow is a cutie. Is he a sheltie or a collie?
We're having our January thaw...it's to be 40 today. To be truthful we haven't really had our freeze yet. I'm ok with that. I wish it were light later. With the mild weather I would love to be able to ride, but it's just too dark by the time I get home from work.
The power company came in and cut the limb off the power line. Yeah!. They didn't even disconnect the power while they were working on it. I'm glad I wasn't there to see how they managed that. I expect them to come back some time in the summer to tighten up the droopy line where it stretched out.

INDYAPP: Shadow is a collie, he weighs about 70 pounds. He is such a sweet dog. He has the run of the pastures when I am at the barn, then comes with me back into the house and naps in whatever room I am in. Right now I have three cats and a dog hanging out with me. We all watch tv together. When my sheltie, Kelsie, died about 10 years ago, I didn't want another dog since it would be hard to replace her. Shadow came up needing a home about 4 years ago and we got him. He is much bigger than Kelsie, but is so much like her personality-wise. He also looks like her. A very good dog.
GRAYMARE: Wow. Stay safe from the virus! I heard we are in the 16 percent range right now here in Virginia. Too high, also. I am soooo looking forward to that vaccine! We are on the second stage here of vaccinations, for people over 75 and essential workers. I think that is the category they put Donnie's company into. I should be in the next stage, the one for people over 65. I have no idea when that will happen.
ELLEN: I would travel to get that vaccine, too!! I am glad you are scheduled.
It's a lovely sunny day here today, 46 degrees. Nice. It's going to rain tomorrow and then turn cold again. Oh, well....

We are now the number one area in the US for covid.........so many cases, in fact, they are now forming a triage case unit to decide who gets treatment and who doesn't..............If a client has a poor chance of survival, they won't get care.It sounds cruel to me, but they have to reserve ventilators for those that have a good chance of survival. I haven't heard of any particular cases yet, it's just the direction it is going. Scary stuff, for sure.
For me/us, I can't understand why anyone would choose not to have the vaccine. I don't know when it will be available to us but we'll jump on the wagon.
We'll just pray it doesn't strike us...............os any of you in our gang.

Now they are arguing whether or not smokers should get treatment for Covid...............glad I'm not in health care anymore............AZ has lost many ICU nurses due to Covid so staffing is very bad in AZ right now. AND, right now there is not enough vaccine to go around as of this week end..............
I did see a funny today.............it said never buy a dog when you're drunk and showed a picture of a calf on the couch.........that just struck my funny bone and cheered me up.

Yesterday, almost all the snow melted off from the storm two weeks ago. This morning, it's back. Not very much, but enough to be messy.
Have any of you seen the commercial about a colt being raised by goats? It grows up and turns into a Bronco. A Ford Bronco.

California now has the highest death rate due to Covid...............Omg, one every 3 minutes. I can't even imagine that............We have to obey the rules, which are simple...Mask, scrub our hands and social distance........And, I have another one, stay home.............
AZ has the least vaccinations given out so far....................
