Welcome to April!

I came across a nice example of an Easter egg made by a  Ukrainian person.  I thought of SVET when I saw it.  It also has horses, so goes along with my month's theme of Easter horses....

Once again, such cute pictures!

It has rained on an off all night, then add in occasional high wind. Now and then the rain lands with a mushy plop.

I hope they blew the yolk out of that egg before they painted it. That's a lot of delicate work. Very pretty!

Sad day..........another neighbor had to put a 35 yr old mare down.............I forgot to
write that to you gals.

ARK, glad you decided to stay safe. The freeways in AZ are plumb dangerous........back streets
are OK.............

I hope you are out of range for the big storms that are windy as can be in the midwest............
I do know spring is about to bloom. Hang on to that thought, ELLEN.

What a year for climate ups and downs............From coast to coast.

Everyone have a great evening........... flower flower flower

Graymare, as has so often been said before, it is never easy to lose an old friend, whether two legged or four legged.

We've had a nice day today. This afternoon, Nora came over to get her ice cream. LOL She talks and talks and talks. She has a pretty good vocabulary for a 5 year old. ROFL

GRAYMARE:
I am so sorry about your friend's horse. So sad. Does she have any other horses?
We stayed home during the high winds on Saturday. We'll go pick up Annie next Saturday. A friend had to travel the road we would have been on through WV and she said it was terrible. She was hauling a horse trailer and the wind was pushing her all over. She said she nearly got sideswiped twice by other vehicles swerving. The wind is back to normal today.

ELLEN:
I can't believe Nora is already 5 years old. Those little girls are sure growing up fast.

Ark, they really are growing up fast. Scarlett is 11, Lilah, is 9, and Nora is 5. Lilah is becoming a very good gymnast. Scarlett is more into soccer. Nora is doing some gymnastics too, but isn't as serious about it yet.
They are all very nice little girls. Mom and Dad are doing a good job.
I keep praying that Mom will not have a hard time getting rid of the cancer. They need her.

Thought I would pop in and see how things have been going for fellow foops. I've been staying super busy at work, at home and with my brother. Nothing too terribly exciting, but between the 3 places no time to just relax. Speaking of relaxing, yesterday was rather sunny and the horses took the opportunity to lay out in the field and soak up the sunshine. Only problem with that is they did it right by the road. I don't know how many people slowed way down, I think to see if they were dead. Nope, just enjoying the sunshine.

I did have a skunk come visiting in the barn. I didn't see it right away, but I did smell it. I let the horses in for their dinner, tossed down a couple of bales of hay from the hayloft, and then just as I was getting ready to let the horses out of their stalls saw it in the back of the barn nosing around in the loose hay chaff. It didn't appear to be scared just looking for something to eat. I very carefully let the horses out of the barn and left. The smell wasn't horribly strong, so I don't think it sprayed.

Indy, I hope your new "pet" doesn't decide to make your barn its home and raise a whole bunch of new pets.

Things are fine here.......sunny, breezy, and cool today.

ARK, another neighbor (I don't know her) is going to take the one boarder horse to be with her
two horses ao she won't be lonely. She will now live about four miles away but thank God
she's not alone. Horse people stick together. One day you wake up and twenty five
years has gone by.

I'm going to get a dumpster in a couple of weeks and TOSS old useless stuff. affraid affraid affraid

INDYAPP:
Yikes! Good luck with your new pet! We accidentally caught one once in a live trap meant for a possum. Donnie literally used a 10 foot pole to release the skunk from the trap. The skunk must have decided he didn't like the neighborhood, it left the area on its own.

Now we need a big dog live trap. There is a hound dog that is getting into everything here, hauling off weird things, and relieving itself in my yard. I am going to call animal control tomorrow and see if we can borrow a live trap and have it hauled off. This dog has been a problem for years, is not tame, tears things up and makes a nice mess. It howls in our yard in the middle of the night, 3 or 4 times a week, and today it chased our cat, Dorian, up a tree and was trying to get him. Donnie threw something at it and chased it off. The dog has jumped on our last nerve. There are leash laws here and no one seems to control the beast. It scrounges around everywhere. If I can arrange it, it will be gone soon.

We took Daisy and Areion off to Va Tech for trims today. Both were so good and their feet are doing well. While we were there, an apprentice started up a very loud furnace, started hammering on a horse shoe or something, and generally made a LOT of noise all of a sudden. Areion and Daisy were about 10 feet away from all this racket, but stood there acting casual about it. Good ponies! I suspect Ivan would have jumped out of his hoof boots, but may not be giving him enough credit.

GRAYMARE:
I am glad there will be company for the horse. And you are right. 25 years are gone in a blink.

I need a dumpster, too. Very Happy

My new pet has left a lingering aroma in my barn. I went exploring last night very carefully because my new pet's distinctive aroma was not dissipating and I was afraid he had moved in. I found that he had not physically left, but he had died. I have no idea what caused his death. Fortunately he was not in a part of the barn the horses have access to. I have disposed of him and hopefully his perfume will fade fast.

Whew! Indy. What a mess! I wonder if some baking soda scattered around his final resting place would help remove the odor?

Here is the update on Jamie. She will have an MRI tomorrow, then a bi-lateral mastectomy, possible ovary removal (uterus was removed a few years ago), radiation, and chemo. It will be a process, but we hope and pray that all will eventually be okay. Her husband and three girls need her.

INDYAPP:
Soooo, how is the skunk smell going?  Did you find a smell remover?  I have decided peroxide is the best kitty odor remover, you might try that if all else fails.

The weather is gradually getting better so the summer people are coming back for weekends. More piers are sprouting from the shoreline, and more boats are navigating the lake.
I'm always glad to see them leave in the fall, but glad to see them come back in the spring.

Jamie sounds like a very strong woman. She certainly has lots of good reasons to be a warrior. hug hug

We are off to pick up Annie tomorrow up past Charleston, WV. We meet my other sister there at the half way point between us. So, a month of Annie coming right up!

It rained all night, most of the day. We are a soggy mess. Our horses are soggy brown messes. Rolling Eyes

I just called my friend in the hospital to say HAPPY EASTER and she was really happy.  Her friend
from Texas drove all the way up to see her.  That's a real friend.  She was/is thrilled.  She has a
check up with her surgeon on Tuesday.

We spent the day getting ready for Easter dinner......Roast, carrots, green beans, salad, pie, rolls,
enough to kill us.  My two friends aren't coming...........they're too shy to come over.  They
are widows also but I think they don't like to celebrate holidays anymore. I don't really know.
why.

I'll talk to my entire family tomorrow so that will be great.

You all have a wonderful Easter............

Hugs to all.
