| SUNNY I bet Kent is glad to be home. I hope he is feeling much better. GRAYMARE Safe trip! How far away is that big fire? So scary. OL'MAN Good to see you! How is Virginia? RICK Which one were you? Donnie is out mowing the lower hayfield at 9:45 pm. We are supposed to have dry weather until Tuesday. I hope they are right. It may be just him and me getting it up and we will need the time. It's going to be a busy holiday weekend. | |

| Ark, can you find a nearby high school and see if there are a few boys who want to make an honest buck? Might be worth a phone call. | |

| Good idea, ELLEN. We are going to call our neighbor kid tomorrow, too, and hope he isn't already obligated somewhere else. Hay is being mowed all over. Donnie just came in and said our grass looks great. He sure has worked hard on that field. | |

| This morning, it went from sleepy-small-town-slow-moving-no traffic to summer weekend traffic lines. It will be busier through the summer, but not as crowded as this morning. The good news is that Nelsons are out and about cooking chicken. Just bought 2 half chickens; one for today and one for tomorrow. Delicious!
CB, it's good to hear that you made it to your brother's. I'll bet it was really good to see him.

| NancyLee had this on Facebook...To get rid of a TICK A nurse discovered a safe and easy way to remove ticks, making it less traumatic for the patient and easier for you. Here's a way to eliminate them on you, your children and your pets. Apply a small amount of liquid soap on a cotton ball Cover the tick with the soap soaked cotton ball Blot it for a few seconds ( 15-20 ) The tick will spontaneously detach and stick to the cotton as you remove it. Notify everyone! This may help so many, especially with those hard to reach areas. Tip: Keep liquid soap & cotton balls in your summer first aid kit.

| Our church is giving George a special award to honor his service for the country today. He is so excited, it was supposed to be a surprise, but I had to tell him since we were NOT going to church this Sunday, but riding in the big Memorial Day parade with the Purple Heart chapter. Even though we will be rushing around we are still going to make the parade after the award is given out. I have NEVER seen your George so excited about anything. The church will pay for a brick to be placed at the Milton Memorial Park in his honor. George and our "neighbors" son (who is a quadriplegic) are getting the awards this year. Butch's mom doesn't know about the award, but they will get it during the first service so we will miss that excitement.
Washed the truck yesterday and got all the Purple Heart signs and flags on it for the parade. Our farm is Flag Central this weekend.
Have a great holiday weekend.
Thank a Veteran for their service.

| Trudy, that is such a nice gesture on the part of your church. It must be neat for you to see George so excited about it. My flag will be out today and everyday for the rest of the summer, unless it's raining. | |

| Congrats on the wonderful award, George!!!! That's really great! And happy, Memorial Day! CB Have lots of fun at your brother's! Hopefully, cooler fun.... I am not directly involved with the haymaking until probably tomorrow when it is baled. ELLEN We have a neighbor kid coming to help. He is pretty good. Donnie spent Saturday fluffing up the hayfield. He was sad to discover he had run over a baby deer the night before with the mower. He didn't know it until the next morning. Poor little thing didn't last a second. He said he never saw it. Annie spent Saturday puppy sitting Lori's 9week old boxer. She was worn out . That puppy kept her running all day. Lori and I took Ivan and Areion to the New River Trail. They did really well, despite the gazillion bikes we had to pass by. Everyone who owns a bike was out enjoying the great weather. Areion seemed a little tender footed, so we turned around about 3 miles out. I switched with Lori and I rode Areion back to the parking area. Areion wasn't limping, but seemed to be a little short strided and careful. She may have stepped on a gravel wrong. I am going to get her some boots. Anyway, she was easy to ride, didn't spook at anything...which included all those bikes and a herd of deer beside the trail. This was my first ride on her outside of the arena! It was fun! Ivan wasn't thrilled having Lori on him, and wasn't as nice to her as he was with me. She had to give him a lesson about standing still to be mounted when he stood perfectly for me after each bridge we crossed. (Ivan wuvs me, ) After we got back, we stopped by a local horse show, unloaded the horses and walked all over the grounds. The show was in a break, so we tacked up again and rode in the arena with a few other horses. It was great exposure for Areion. She didn't act gimpy at all in the arena footing, making us think she just needs some protection on harder packed and occasionally gravelly surfaces. Both horses were more reactive at the show grounds than on the trail, but did okay. Areion's next trip will be by herself to get her used to being away from Ivan, her babysitter. He worried over her the entire time. We did have fun trotting side by side in that huge arena! A fun day.... | |

| I am recovering from putting up hay on Monday. Every time I sat down yesterday, I fell asleep. I am back to 'normal' today.... We still have the upper fields to do. It's nice and warm here today, we may get thunderstorms. I left the barn open to the horses because of the lack of shade out in the arena. We are going to make a shade canopy to get them away from the barn soon. | |

We have gotten lots of rain here in mo and san angelo got so much had flash flooding...got the whole years supply in two days....

| GRAYMARE
The PHBA has changed a lot over the years from the original registry, when the ideal was four shades lighter or four shades darker than a new copper penny. How do you think this one will turn out? Will he be in the copper(goldfish sheen) family, the blondies, or a chocolate in his summer wear?
Horse coats can be very unique. I have one that is registered as a bay, he's close to what some people call a wild bay, but he has sworls of black hair on his neck that almost look like dun factor that if he had a dorsal in any manner he'd be able to be registered with the Buckskin Registry asa dun.
APPY probably remembers all the rules from time gone by.
