Happy New Year!

Can you believe it is 2015?  Where did the last 15 years go?  It just seems like Y2K was the big topic and we all worried the computers would all crash.  On HorseNet we just finished up collecting all the members' horse experience years to total out 2000 years.  I was still living in our old house trying to get it sold while Donnie was living here 75 miles away in a travel trailer,  building a barn and getting the Moo Shack ready for us to move in.   Time does fly by....Welcome to 2015!  I hope we all have a safe and happy journey through it! hug

Last night Kumquat, my ever helpful cat, was instrumental in getting the decorations off our Christmas tree.  She loves that tree..... Very Happy

January 2015 FJjRze

My only New Year's resolution is to have as much fun on my horses as I can!

HAPPY 2015!!!

Our evening ended early as our open house guests came, we ate, hugged and cheered, starting around 5P, ending at about 7:30P.  Some headed home, some to local parties……………it was still raining.
We all had fun.  We sure didn't see midnight, LOL.

Our state got a big snow fall/storm with Interstate 40 still closed   I'm sure daylight will solve that……...

Yep... ClappingHands it may not be until baby is 6 weeks old as that is when jessis maternity leave ends and gramma may fill in for another few weeks, it depends if they find good daycare that early...if not I will fill in for awhile....but yes definately a trip back in the future.

Well back to the moving unloading building fence mode....we spent night at new place..very quiet and warm....will finish moving as soon as we can.

CB, glad things are moving along well for you.  Just don't over do!!  How far do you have to drive between each house?  Hope not too far.  It's extra nice to have warmth and quiet time to rest between loads.

RICK:
That was very nice, and so true.

CB:
When the dust settles, you will have to post pix of your new place!  You won't know what to do with yourself after all the moving is done Laughing .  Congrats on new baby coming!  Are they going to name it Clara?

GRAYMARE:
The snow out west is unreal looking!  How strange that they have snow and we don't.  I hope all the palm trees and delicate plants survive it.  We just today covered up our dahlia plants to keep the cold weather from killing the roots.  I bet driving in the snow in California was exciting....

ELLEN:
Did you see the video of the wind blowing tents around at the Rose Parade grounds?  Wow.  The one year I don't watch that parade and all sorts of things happen.  Rolling Eyes

Well I had a pretty fun New Year's Day.  One is supposed to do on New Year's Day what they wish to do a lot of during the year, so I rode both Ivan and Areion.  (Of course, I also cleaned the barn and could really do without that task all year  Rolling Eyes ).  Lori rode Areion while I rode Ivan, then we switched.   Both horses were very mellow despite the COLD wind.  I just about froze, though.  Areion was very kind to me and despite my confusing her at times, she was very good.  She is so different from riding Ivan and since I didn't do her saddle training, I feel like I have missed a bunch of steps and am trying to catch up to what she does.  We'll get it, though.

Ivan is doing really well in his S-hook hackamore.  I think he prefers going bitless and seems to behave much the same as with a bit.  This time he actually got a drink out of the water trough while I was riding him in the arena, something he never did with a bit despite having it offered to him many times.    He did do one funny thing. I almost never wear gloves, but it was so cold I put on a pair of white ones. Ivan took one look at my hands, gasped, and jumped back a couple of feet like I was wearing a new hat or something...After a couple of treats from those monsters, he didn't mind the gloves after all.

Donnie took pix:

Ivan with purple blanket and extremely muddy appearance.  Areion with blue blanket.

Ark, both r beautiful! you have done great with them.

Well, we have the goats moved to new house, game plan was to go get horses next, but woke up to snow! they r fine with 30 acres out of 40 open to them with still very thick grass and clover and have the barn for shelter and the pond for water, plus a heated water tank....and good neighbor ron who checks on them. I will be gllad when all my kiddies r in one spot again tho, I like looking out the window and being able to see them. two more trips to go and we will be moved. its 82 miles from old to new...so not too bad....but we r farther from the chocolate factory outlet..that's bad! lol

Where did everyone go? arks post is the last I see.....

Hi CB…………..glad each step is going well………it's sunny here this morning and warmer……..it was 34 last night and today will be about 60.  Things are drying out nicely.  I love just watching my horses.
The Hooligan Boys are a riot; chasing, jumping and racing the horses next door.  Even cuter is when the Hooligan horses are on the side that borders the Hooligan twins………..the twins and their dogs run the fence and the Hooligan horses run with them……the boys scream and laugh and they all run fast.
Ha, all get exercise and the boys brag they can run faster than a horse.  HYSTERICAL.

No news here.  I don't know why people aren''t writing……….

I'm here. And while I have a FB page, I don't post there very often either. I'm just a lurker at heart. That and I really hate this time of year. I try not to bring others down with my depression. What can I say. It's cold. It's starting to snow. I've been fortunate that I haven't had any snow yet this year. This time last year I was knee deep in snow and struggling with the depression so I'm a lot better off than this time last year.

Please don't stop posting on this forum. I truly enjoy reading how others are doing and what is going on in your lives. Besides, come July I'll be an official member as I'll turn 50. So instead of an honorary member I can be a bona fide member.

Indy, I'm with you. It's been mostly dark and cloudy, raining, a little snow, and gloomy. I've stolen the phrase you coined - perma-gloom. It fits. Like you, I have a Facebook page, but very rarely use it.
Not much going on right now. I've started knitting the 'birthday' jacket. This is going to take a while to knit.
At the moment, I'm watching the Colts play the Bengals, hoping we make it to the next round of playoffs.

CB, I hope you get everybody moved soon and can be settled for a while. It seems like you have better internet service at this place since we see you more often. That will be good.

Graymare, it is always so entertaining to watch little kids play. Little boys always seem to be full of bravado and are ready to conquer the world - especially super heroes like your neighbors.

I will be so glad to make these last two trips....yesssssssssss.

Indy, post more, it helps with the depression to know others r having gray days too. weather and spirit wise. I miss my texas winters but its been icy and col there too....so I will weather the colder days here and tend to my fur babies...and get thru it all. we havnt gotten tv transferred yet so the one radio station is thankfully country...count my blessings for the lil things. been cleaning cupboards and drawers...ugh....so its exciting day today! tongue Rolling Eyes

Gotta show off my dtr. Jillian's handiwork. She designed the pattern and then made this quilt for my niece/her cousin in Louisiana. This is a queen size and is the largest she's done.

Wow! I love it when there are lots of posts to read! ClappingHands

INDYAPP
I know how you feel. After days of clouds and rain and fog, we had a few minutes of sunshine today. I stood out in it and just breathed it in..... sunny . The best that can be said is that the days are getting longer!!!! I can already tell it. My 50th year was a really good one. I hope yours is, too.

It got up to 60 degrees this afternoon, although windy and cloudy. The wicked weather demons are just teasing us about spring since we will be having single digit temps later this week. Rolling Eyes I need to drag out the horse blankets. We did get to Tractor Supply today and replaced the heated water tub that Areion trashed recently. She is a talented demolition expert.

CB
I am soooooo glad you have a better internet connection!! wavy and you didn't get lost at the first of the month!! It will be great when all your babies are at your new place.

RICK
Very pretty quilt!! Good job and lucky recipient! Has she made you one yet?

GRAYMARE
Eli just gets prettier and prettier! Are you riding much this winter? What did your horses think of snow? Mine actually love it, but I wonder about their sanity...

ELLEN
You are making a jacket? What kind?

OL'MAN
I bet you are proud of that grandson! He sure sounds like a great young man!

TRUDY
Okay, so what are you up to these days now that the Christmas season is behind us?

SUNNY
Tell us about sunshine and warm weather! How are you and Kent doing?

Donnie's vacation is over. I have enjoyed seeing him during daylight hours the past couple of weeks. He is off to work tomorrow and I am back to cleaning the barn by myself again. It was almost a vacation for me, having barn help. Very Happy

Happy New Year guys. I didn't go to Facebook, don't even have an account there. Please don't everyone go away from here. I sure would miss seeing all the horse photos, Rick's jokes and hearing what everyone is up to.

I'm still around, just busy doing the un decorating for the house after Christmas. The house looks so blah and boring now. It took me 3 days to get the tree taken apart and everything put away. I hate Jan and Feb, they are such blah months to get thru.

The Tuesday before Christmas I had to take Ace to the vet, he tore a skin tag almost off his leg when we were out in the fields. YUCK Minor surgery but still traumatic for Ace. Right after I made the pone call for Ace, I sat down was eating a chocolate covered pretzel and broke off a tooth. I had to make an immediate trip to the dentist who was kind enough to wait for me to arrive. They were closing for vacation when I called, after a mad dash to Lewisburg & $989 later I have a temp crown. Merry Christmas to me and Ace.

The weather has taken a nose dive here in PA. COLD, windy, snow and ice. BBRRRRRRRRR Winter has arrived, it's going to be 4 degrees later this week. Stay warm everyone and keep posting, I'm a daily lurker even if I don't post.

Love & prayers....
