Seriously, hantavirus? HOLY COW. Get your traps as that's a bad disease………….we had an episode a few yrs ago up on the rez………….fortunately they got it managed quickly…………
NEWS FLASH: Baby Eli is out in his first good rain storm………….way cute. He's just standing there butt to the wind like his mama……………….it's raining a good nice rain, not bucket rain and hail, LOL.

| I hate to poison mice, partially because I have 4 cats that can get to the barn. Any good suggestions for getting rid of mice? Don't suggest getting a cat . I think the mice cuddle up with Wizard... RICK: What are you up to lately? How was Don? Beautiful day here, going to be about 80 degrees. My jobs: clean the barn, then mow the grass. | |

| CB, is there a USB port on your tablet where you can plug in a keyboard. The wireless keyboard/mouse sets aren't too expensive. You can get them at Walmart.
It's been a mix of weather today. Cloudy, sunny, low 60s. Still not showing real spring yet. | |

| It's 40 degrees here in PA this morning. BBRRRRRRR What a nasty spring we are having with so much darn WIND, every day. Darn it. We started our plants early, hoping for a early harvest but can't put the plants in the garden yet.
ARK: Get rid of those darn possums, they bring the horses Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis. or EPM. Very dangerous illness from the possum pee. YIKES...
I'm baking cookies for the Purple Heart dinner meeting tonight so gotta get busy baking.

| ARK I second what MANYGATES said about those 'possums. I had a great show prospect turn into a pasture pet at the age of 2 because of EPM. I don't normally advocate killing creatures but I make the exception for possums.
Spring teased us on Saturday. We had a beautiful day. I was able to cut down a big ol' limb that would interfere with the building of my garage. Was able to get the farm tractor battery put back in and charged up and the tractor started for the first time since last fall and pulled the horse trailer out of the barn where it had been stored for the winter. Sunday not so nice. Still sunny, but if you were in the wind, brrr. I was able to get a good start on replacing the wooden post and rail fence that is the front of my pasture. The new fence is just in front of the old fence so I can leave the old fence up until I'm done with the new one. I'll then take a really deep breath and blow on the old fence and it will come down. Then I can burn it. I wish I would have taken a 'before' picture. Hopefully I'll be able to finish that project next weekend. I have a birthday party for a 2 year old that I must attend so maybe not.
Today is gray, cool and overcast with rain. But I'm at work so doesn't matter so much.
Have a nice evening all.

| No problems with that possum, he is now living 15 miles from here along a nice creek. I knew about EPM, we catch several possums a year, but this was the first we caught who had moved into the barn. Our barn is situated above a creek and wildlife corridor, so possums, snakes, squirrels, deer, raccoons, rats, mice, foxes, and probably coyotes all can get within a fenceline of the barn. We hear coyotes, but haven't seen them up close. We saw a bear below the creek in our lower hayfield once. Most have enough sense to stay out of the barn, but this last possum had decided he was a cat. Wizard, the resident barncat, welcomes all. Lots of rain here and going to be much more tomorrow and Wednesday. An old friend is stopping by tomorrow afternoon. RICK: you met Mary Sue years ago at the NC horse expo. She works for a company that inspects milk cows at dairies. They have a yearly meeting at VA Tech, and she visits me afterward. She lives near Sparta, NC. We were spinning club friends and her Arab mare is half sister of Arkady. It will be nice to see her. | |

| Something we all need to do is smile and know this.....................
Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York . This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico . But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York . The ship hit an iceberg and sank. The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning. The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as - Sinko De Mayo. WHAT??? You expected something educational from me? You need a shot of Tequila.

| ELLEN: You should have waited a few days for that story . Cute! CB: I bet that doggy event was really fun! I'd like to see that one. Lots of rain here with more tomorrow. We don't get tornadoes here much, in fact only once in recorded history in this county and that was three years ago. One came within 15 miles of here. Close enough. The mountains must protect this area. We are under a flood watch right now, though. I went to the dermatologist today for the follow-up on the skin cancer removed 6 months ago and was declared fine and dandy with no issues. Then had dinner with Donnie and Mary Sue at Pizza Hut. I don't remember the last time we went there, but they still make the best pizza! | |

| California Chrome is the fav at 5-2……………I haven't researched any horses yet….he is in 5 gate position…………..I'm for Rosie Napravnik on Vicar's In Trouble from gate 1, odds 30-1…… Her chances are REALLY slim as gate 1 is a real detriment and her horse doesn't have the best odds………………anyhow, the hype will be on ESPN early Sat morning and then the race is on NBC…………..I get all wind up as it is so exciting……………. | |
