CB
I will try to get a photo of the hackamore on Ivan next time I ride.  It seemed to work very well during our lesson yesterday.  We adjusted it up another notch and I think it sits where it is supposed to on Ivan's nose.  Our lesson was to do the same things with the hackamore that we do with his snaffle bit.  Ivan was a little confused at first, then seemed to catch on to the different feel and did everything really well!  We walked and trotted, turned, backed, did figure 8's, sidepassed, and most especially, stopped.  The one rein stop seems to work just fine.  It was sort of like suddenly having power steering, Ivan did all this with barely a touch.  He was Mr. Mellow about the entire thing.   Now what he might do if he was excited or in a new place amongst strange horses is not clear.

Areion's lesson was done entirely bareback after a lounging session.  It was the longest time she has been ridden bareback, about a half hour.  Lori looks great on Areion.  Areion was Miss Mellow and didn't act out at all.  Pretty good for a very windy, chilly day!

Jane's gelding, Albert, arrived at the end of Areion's lesson. Lori continued to ride Areion and she never got upset about Albert being nearby.  Ivan probability would have been, he thinks Areion is his mare and dislikes Albert being in the same state as her... Rolling Eyes

I stayed with the little girls next door while Mommy was working. Daddy got home, blew a few leaves into a pile, then took Little Miss Scarlett outside to "help" him stuff them into a big plastic bag that looks like a great big pumpkin when it's full. Baby Lilah was very content to sit in her high chair watching. This new three-year-old was having a ball helping stuff the leaves, picking some up to look at them more closely, running into the pile and scattering them everywhere, hugging the big pumpkin, and in general being a joyful, happy little girl. We adults see the leaves as a big nuisance. She sees them as a big toy.

I remember one time CB when my little friend and I built a house.  We lined up leaves for 3 rooms I think.  We thought it was the best house.  Then the dogs ran through and ruined our lines.  LOL, we were so upset,  remembering that, thinking we never could have a house of leaves…………….I have no memory of what it looked like but I clearly remember where it was and the event.  GADS, funny, huh?

lol!    lol!    lol!

Here's the horse world:  Friend called in the afternoon.  "Hi Syd, DS' horse broke it's leg and had to be put down earlier today."  Me:, I knew L had an emergency as Eli was going to be gelded." Blah blah blah……….

Horrible day for my friend and my vet………………..flowers sent and we're all sad.  Great horse, I think about 14-15……………….Sad  Sad  Sad

GRAYMARE
How terrible for your friend, what a nightmare. ((((DS))))
Any idea how it happened?

Tomorrow, Saturday, the bow window gets installed! Then the room gets put back together, and maybe life will return to normal! wavy (knock on wood Rolling Eyes ) My painting that isn't quite done will be removed from the wall where the window is going in. Where will I hang a 4x7 foot painting? It has been fun painting on the side of the house.Very Happy

Also 200 bales of hay are being delivered in the afternoon. It is going to be a busy day.

ARK, I haven't seen DS yet…..I'll see her prob within the next 2 weeks…………..I'm giving her head and heart time to settle…………..the horse had been injured year before last so maybe that leg was just weak and no one knew, x-rayed clear after healing last year………….I don't even know if it's the same leg. Our vet friend doesn't say anything…….she lets us circle the word amongst ourselves.  DS called one of my other friends later that day and she spread the word. At this point,  I don't know the details….I'm sure I'll hear.

Oh boy, we can't wait to see the window……..sounds gorgeous.  LOL, have a good day! ClappingHands

Hi guys. Another busy week has flown by. Fall is here, the latest wind storm has about blown all the colorful leaves off of all the trees. Love crunching thru piles of them when walking Ace.

We have been busy building a ARK. Not for 40 days of rain,,but for Trunk or Treat at church. We are doing Noah's Ark for our trunk. I'm breaking out all my stuffed critters for the Ark. cat monkey pig elephant I'm going to be a Tiger GGGRRRRRR and a friend is going to be Noah. Got 4 huge bags of candy at Sam's Club so we are ready for the big night. Last year we had over 1300 kids show up. Can't wait for Friday night.

GRAYMARE: So sorry about your friends horse.

CB: Hope your move goes smoothly, you have been known to have such disasters on your trips. Praying for a nice quiet and safe move. Hope you get a buyer for your place.

Did anyone see Gone Girl? I'm still ticked at the end of the movie.

Going to get my shingle shot today. UUGHHHHH I hate needles, already did the flu shot, now I should be set for those 2 illnesses. All my health stuff has been taken care of for this year. Gotta stay healthy as possible.

Have a great week everyone.

I know you are all so excited to hear about my leaf work - again! NOT. But, round 1 is done. A neighbor came over with his lawn tractor with a vacuum on it and did my upper yard in about 10 minutes. It would have taken me all afternoon to do that much. Have I mentioned how nice my neighbors are?
Then I mowed the leaves in the lower yard. Of course, within an hour it will look like I didn't do anything at all.

Trudy, your Steelers beat up on my Colts yesterday. Usually 34 points and 400 passing yards would be enough to win most games, but Rothlisburger was really on a roll with a career high.
The church I go to is having a Truck or Treat in the parking lot too. They have a lot of fun.

Too bad Rose isn't here. She would be celebrating Dale Jr. winning Martinsville.

TRUDY
The ark sounds like a lot of fun! Got all your garden finished?

ELLEN
What is a trunk or treat activity? My sister's church is doing that, too. What do you do?
I haven't even started on our leaves. Maybe tomorrow I will mow them to invisibility since it is supposed to be 80 degrees!!!

CB
Did you say there was a house on your new property? How far will you be from your brother?

GRAYMARE
The window is in the wall!! It looks very nice. We had two carpenters, plus Donnie, all working on Saturday morning to get it in. They cut my painting down and installed the window while I was cleaning up the barn. Buck stained it today and will varnish it tomorrow. Kumquat loves it!

Then Saturday afternoon, 200 bales of hay arrived and got stacked in the garage shed. Every inch of hay storage is filled up. That is a good feeling....

After looking for a week for the brown safety caged stirrups for the Australian saddle, I found them hanging on the saddle rack where I carefully stored them and promptly forgot. Rolling Eyes

Ark, trunk or treat/truck or treat is when churches or other groups will have goodies and games originating from the trunks of their cars, or the back of their pickup trucks, usually lined up in a parking lot.  Here, it will be the church parking lot.  The people in the trucks or cars usually dress up to entertain whatever kids show up.  People around town know it's going to be there, so they'd rather take their kids there than to go door to door.

I'm looking forward to pictures of your new window.  It must be really nice to finally have your house put back together again.

The bases have trunk or treat with loads of candy, a walk thru fun house and games and free hot dogs and sodas....its even fun for adults.

Well, I am going to watch tv and take a break, eat din din and hit the sack early. nite y'all

ELLEN: How bout them Steelers????????? Ben was sure on a roll, that had to be the best game he ever played. The Colts are no slackers either. Luck is going to be a great QB, he plays a lot like Ben did as a young QB.

ARK: Trunk or treat is a Halloween party for adults. LOL LOL We get dressed up and pass out candy to kids and have a blast doing it. The kids are safe, they don't have to go door to door. Our church goes all out for this event, no scary costumes allowed. You should see some of the trunks, some people are so creative, & go crazy with decorating their trunks. We have prizes for the best trunks. Last year we had over 1300 kids, every year it gets bigger and bigger.

ARK: Yup the garden is all finished & put to bed for the winter. WHEW...we are set for winter with veggies, we got a 1/4 of beef from our neighbor, so let it snow let it snow let it snow. We won't starve that's for sure.

CB: Yes, you could be a cow at Trunk or Treat. The kids would love you there in your cow suit. A very fond memory of mine, you showing up at our place dressed in a cow suit and George & my kids thinking you guys were serial killers coming to kidnap me. ROFL

I know I'm slow sometimes and especially so about movies and entertainment, etc. We just finished watching a Robin Williams movie PATCH ADAMS. Movie was made in 1997. It is possible I might have seen it years ago, but don't really remember. It is a "true story" about a guy that finally becomes a doctor. If you haven't seen it, please try to find it and watch it. Be warned it is at least a "3 kleenex" movie as well as being / having a bit of bawdy humor. I loved it and I'm sure we'll watch it again and again.

It is SNOOP approved!!

I will keep that movie in mind, I haven't seen it.  Thanks!  Cute donkeys, btw..... Very Happy
How is the new grandpup doing?

I have a couple of window pix to post.  I forgot to take one this afternoon during daylight after Buck finished the staining and varnishing.  It looks very nice on the inside.  We have shades on it now, so I don't have to hang a sheet on it to keep folks from peeking in after dark.  The window faces the road.  The outside just lacks a couple of pieces of trim to be done, the inside will have a window seat built in front of the window to finish it off.   Kumquat and I have enjoyed sitting in the sunny window!  It faces south, so has lots of sunlight.

Installing window on Saturday:
