Happy December! Merry Christmas Shopping! Don't you just love a horse in socks?

Today is going to be lovely, sunny and in the 60s! I am going to go celebrate by cleaning my barn.

I just did……….and I got here fine, so it's a good day.  I'm meeting the blahs blahs at McD's in 15 min for gab, coffee, and for me, a cheeseburger & coke.

Oh ARK, Eli could care less…………walks all over happy & proud…………he's a REALLY easy colt so far.

Whew! I think my Christmas shopping is nearly done. Only a couple more little things to get, and a few more projects to finish. Having them all done by the end of the week is probably a little bit ambitious, but that's my plan. We'll see......

She is a scream, ARK………………and so is my husband at the grocery store!  Yep, left brain.

On the news today they are discussing the law regarding teaching sex education in schools.
Education in America has gone crazy and so have the people.  Huge fights in AZ………..
how about teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic……………..oh, and did I say manners, responsibility,
& respect?  Where are the parents when these kids get dressed?

Happy December everyone...hope you are all busy getting ready for Christmas and having fun doing it. Things are busy here. Saturday is our Purple Heart Christmas party. It's going to be a good one, we are giving an award to our oldest Purple Heart recipient after dinner, Carson is 85 and still with us.

Our tree is up and decorated, it only took me about 3 days to get it finished, no hurry here and no little grand kids to lend a hand. I miss those little ones helping. They grew up too fast.

 You are doing better than me.  We have had our tree and its lights on since last weekend and I still don't have an ornament on it. I guess the decorator elves are not coming here this year.

 Those Corgis and their sleigh are too cute!!  Some little kid riding in the sleigh would be even cuter!  
 There was a Santa with six tiny white ponies hitched to a wonderfully realistic sleigh parked in front of Kroger' s last week.  He had a crowd surrounding him, so I couldn't get a good photo. I have no idea why he was at Kroger's.  The front two ponies were Trinket sized and tied to a piece of railroad railing.  That sleigh wasn't  going anywhere.
 Years ago, Zippy with cart, and Donnie and I were in a night parade in Galax.  A Santa with a similar  six pony sleigh set-up nearly ran us over.  Santa used us as his brakes.  We noticed the ponies' harness was connected wrong and Santa had little or no control over his 'reindeer'.  Having six uncontrolled ponies breathing down your neck was a little intimidating!

We are scheduled to take Ivan and Areion to a parade on Saturday.  There is now a 100% chance of rain forecast.   . Hopefully, they will postpone it a week.  There is no way I can get those horses cleaned up for this Saturday.  We could also use the time to continue de-spooking Ivan.  Yesterday, Lori put antlers on Areion and Ivan had a freaked-out heart attack.  He could not get over her wearing them.  We probably won't use them on Areion, but some other horse there may have them.  Ivan hates it when I wear a new hat.  He just knows I am not the one who feeds him when a new hat shows up. Strangely, he didn't recognize Areion either.

GRAYMARE:
That was a nice deed those folks did for the homeless people.  I hope they left the room decorations for them.  Even plainer food would taste better in the prettier room.



No parade today, it rained, then later, rained harder.  We managed to take care of the barn during non-rainy moments.  I spent four hours last night sewing silver Christmas garland onto two red saddle pads for the parade.  They will be good for next Saturday when the parade was rescheduled.  It may be just me and Ivan next week.  Lori doesn't have a dogsitter then for her rambunctious boxer puppy who is about 8 months old and going thru the teenage rebellious stage.  He is a pill.  

I was so relieved when they postponed the parade!  Ivan has rolled in every muddy spot he can find and getting him clean enough was going to be a problem.  It has been too chilly for a good bath.  Areion isn't nearly as dirty, but her tail will need a soaking.  Next week promises to be warmer and dryer.  

I finally decorated the tree today!  

Ark, that rain went just barely south of me. I saw that big green blob on the radar map and thought for sure we were going to get soaked. It just slid by about 10 miles south of here and we didn't get a drop. Next week is supposed to be a little bit warmer here too. After the super cold we had a week or so ago, I was afraid it was here to stay until April. Or May. Last year, we got our first big snow a year ago tomorrow. So far, there is nothing like that predicted.

Today, I was going to start working on my tree, but a neighbor had surgery on his foot. I know their house was built on a slab and has cold floors. So I asked if an extra large sock to fit over the bandage would help. His wife loved that idea, so I knitted furiously all day and finally got it finished just after 6 this evening and took it down to them. His wife put it right on, and he said he could feel the warmth immediately.
So, tomorrow I'll start on the tree.

That was really sweet of you to make the big sock for him! Did you do it in Christmas colors? He could use it as a Christmas stocking next year.


The big green blob got us. I don't know how much rain we got, but the mud is horrendous. Going into the peacock dome is like walking on muddy ice, it is so slick in there. If I slip and fall in there, I will have to be hosed off outside. Donnie will never let me back in the house .
