OMG, CB. Prayers for you & Harry.

I was sorry for you to lose your SIL, also. A bad two days for you, for sure.

CB: Oh girlfriend. So sorry to hear about your cousin and Harry. (((((CB & HARRY)))))

INDYAPP: What a beautiful poem, it brought tears to my eyes.

ARK: Hopefully the weather will cooperate and you can get the ground soft enough to dig.

CB:
How is it going today? How is Harry doing? hug hug I hope you are taking good care of you....

TRUDY:
We finally got Zippy buried this evening. The ground was still frozen a few inches down and we chipped it out with shovels until we made a place the tractor could pry it up. Then it went fairly well. Donnie got him covered up after dark and we'll have to go back and move the dirt around better after things settle down a bit. It is supposed to rain tomorrow and Friday so we had to get this done today. Zippy was all wrapped in a tarp, so it wasn't too bad. He is buried next to Kazi. We may just fence off that corner of the barnlot and make it an official animal graveyard. We have animals buried all over this place. Too bad we didn't think of this earlier.

CB:  That was some good news about Harry.  Praying he keeps getting stronger and is able to go home.  Praying for you too, so much stress in your life.  Stay strong girlfriend.

ARK;  Glad you managed to get Zippy into his final resting place.  We have 2 animals cemeteries  One for the horses and a smaller one for the cats and our sons guinea pig.  They all have tombstones on their final resting place.  A couple are homemade but still cool.

Off to Barnabas this morning.  Our new leader wants me to take over the entire ministry, guess he didn't realize it is a lot of work.  I have to pray for guidance on that.

George is taking our neighbor to the ER this morning, she called last night and needs a ride and I can't be 2 places at once.

Hubby got moved to the stroke unit from icu...last night....at 9 pm.....kind of weird timing, but someone worse off needed his room in icu, and whoosh, he was moved.
Hes happier as he has a real toilie! He still needs assistance to get to it as they dont want him falling, this new med they give for strokes really thins the blood, a tiny cut can be detrimental and even life threatening.
But fir niw he is gappy, tv, good altho bland food, and a real toulet.....lol

CB, that's good news. I'm really glad to hear that he got moved to a room with a toilet. There is so much they can do now to mitigate the effects of a stroke.

We are in the midst of the January thaw. It's 55° this morning and the snow is all gone. We will enjoy today because tomorrow we fall (kicking and screaming) back into the deep freeze.
One of my neighbors has a birthday today. She LOVES ice cream. We are going to a nice Italian restaurant for a late lunch then having cake and ice cream at another neighbor's house. I made the ice cream this morning. Very Happy

Buuurrrppp!!!! I am soooo full! Neighbors Miller treated Neighbors Perry and I to lunch at an Italian restaurant in Ft. Wayne this afternoon. I indulged in the warm bread, then salad, then a LARGE portion of lasagne, more than half of which I brought home. When we got back to Millers', we had a huge piece of delicious chocolate cake and homemade ice cream that I made this morning. Oh my gosh! I am stuffed right up to the gills.

Wrote a post several times -- and it mysteriously vanished several times before I actually posted, I don't know why. Trying again ...

Just wanted to say, CB, you have hugs from me, too. A rough time. But Harry's news seems pretty good, and I hope it steadily improves.

ARK, I have a vivid mental image of you and Donnie struggling with the frozen earth, Zippy waiting nearby. You did well by him, in every way. When I had to bury my Shanti, I engaged a neighbor to come with his big backhoe (he's in that business), and then decided, after a lot of inner struggle, to keep a date with friends for my birthday instead of being present for the burial. I'm sure another neighbor, who did come over, must have thought that very callous of me, but I decided that I'd already been through the sickness and the euthanasia, and had visited Shanti's inert body off and on through the night, so that it would be better for me to take cheer from friends than to stay, when, really there was nothing more I could do. But I wouldn't be writing about that now if I didn't feel some guilt about it! I suppose I did miss the full closure that comes with witnessing the burial. You did well.

ELLEN, as usual, we are getting your weather! Temps up in the 50s now with rain, and an abrupt deep freeze to follow on Sunday, with maybe snow -- or serious ice-- tomorrow. This morning I drove to a haircut, through thick, thick fog everywhere in the woods, and with treacherous ice everywhere underfoot. Time for crampons on the boots. And as I write, a humongous chunk of ice and snow just floated off my metal roof and crashed so loud and hard on the ground that it shook the house. Eek.

Yesterday was 55°, then it started dropping. This morning it was 25°, our high for the day, with freezing rain followed by some snow. It's been dropping slowly all day, add some wind for a feel of 8°, and Beech, that's what's coming your way.

CB:
Good news about Harry!! cheers cheers They really do seem to help stroke victims these days, more than they used to. Good news for us all! ClappingHands

BEECH:
Don't feel guilty about Shanti. You saw him thru the worst. When I know it is coming, I mourn in advance. After the animal is gone, it doesn't bother me so much what happens to the body. They no longer inhabit it. I don't want them eaten by coyotes or anything, though, so I guess I do care what happens somewhat after all....But I don't think the animal would think badly of me if I didn't watch them being buried. I was with them when they were euthanized.
We really had a hard time getting Zippy buried, though. He was wrapped up tightly and didn't really look like a pony, he looked like a blue tarp. He weighed 325 pounds, a bit too heavy for us to move around easily, so had to use the tractor. I can see why they dig graves in advance in the Frozen North, it was not easy even with the ground only frozen a few inches. Donnie wants to dig the next one in advance of the winter, but who knows how long it would be? We went about 10 years without a horse death, a hole in advance would have been a pond.

So of course, today Daisy is limping on a rear foot. She keeps somewhat sore front feet, but those are okay right now and she is iimping on the right rear. She may be developing an abscess or may have wrenched her fetlock yesterday when I saw her sliding around in the mud. She has very thick 'ankles', so I couldn't tell if there is any swelling or not, it didn't feel hot. Donnie will check her out in the morning. She let me pick out her feet to check for stones, but there were none. It's always something. I hope we can solve this one ourselves. Zippy has pretty well depleted the vet fund for awhile.

ELLEN:
It was 66 degrees here today. It was only spoiled by rain all day, but at least it wasn't a cold rain. The temps are diving tonight and they say our roads will be icy tomorrow morning, so we went to WalMart for a few things this evening (catfood and Half and Half, we didn't need any bread or regular milk Very Happy ). We got soaked going from the store to the truck, the clear spot we were in passed and the rain started pouring just as we left the building. I don't think they are predicting any snow for here. Fine by me!

GRAYMARE:
Have you had a chance to do any riding lately? How are the 'boys'? I haven't been on Ivan or Areion since we went Christmas caroling before Christmas. Ivan keeps looking at me like he thinks we should be doing something....anything for those mints!

INDYAPP:
Are you snowed in like ELLEN?

CB, I'm really glad to hear that Harry is home and doing well.

We didn't get very much snow, maybe a quarter inch. It's getting really cold here tonight with a strong wind added to the mix.
