Welcome to the November thread! Only 2 more shopping months until Christmas! Does that depress anyone else besides me?

We saw actual sunshine today, the first in a week. It is still cold, but easier to deal with when the sun shines and the wind isn't howling. I hope everyone up north where the former hurricane is are doing okay. DONNA? NANCY LEE?

HAPPY NOVEMBER everyone.......oh yes, ARK, Christmas is coming..................but Thanksgiving gets our hearts in order.

We had a winner here in AZ this morning. A goofball was smoking as he was siphoning gas (as in stealing) from a car.......he started on fire, rolled around on the street, jumped in his truck and started it to drive off, he jumped out and fell in the street again, and the truck drove into a house, literally. Yes folks, this really just happened and it was on TV....................I can't wait to see this knucklehead in court. He is currently off to the hosp awaiting his arraignment.

Two weird things happened today for me. A cop showed up in my yard while I was in the barn. He didn't offer to come on down to the barn, so I trudged up the hill and found out that I have been summoned for jury duty for the county from mid-November to mid-February. Should be interesting.

Then Annie and I had lunch with my friend, Joanne, who rides with me. She told me that a video had been posted on FaceBook of me falling off of Ivan at the Actha ride we attended last month .

It was nice to see the sun for a while today. It's been a long gloomy windy week.

chilly day here. Sure tired of political ads .... and the fact that there is no way to know IF ANYTHING they say is true!!!!! It really is sort of depressing to me the way they do things now. ackkkkkkk If they could all remember the few things they learned in kindergarten we wouldn't be in such a mess. jumping off my soapbox now.

Good day all, it is bright and sunny here today, a few clouds lurking here and there but no thread of rain is felt or forecast. No snow either for that I am truly thankful. Supposed to be a dry week till next weekend and the the rains return. Perhpas I can get most of my errands done before that comes. I am running again today and got a lot done. I have to do all of my Christmas stuff in early Nov or it just does not get done. sooooo there you have it. I got my Christmas shopping done, now it is delivering them. Trying to winterize all things, repack, do laundry from the last 2 or 3 weeks since I have been on the road, camping and it has been raining and I hang my wash to dry. big challenge on my part with wind and rain etc. Oh well most of that is done now.
Nancy Lee. are you out there...have not heard from you for many moons...what is new in your life. Perhaps you posted late in Oct (just noticed that you were the newest member) I did not get time to read up on Oct posts since coming back from Tn. Sorry if I am asking you to repeat yourself.
I hope all is returning to normal for most. I know that it is impossible for the east coast peeps to feel normal again. My heart goes out to those folks.
I gotta get back home, my dog will be dancing and crossing his legs by now....have a good one all

Hi Ellen, I had a great time in Tn. the weather was made with the campers and riders in mind. If you could order a week from a catalogue, that would be the one I would have chosen. What luck is that, and I had doubts of going. whew glad that was changed real quick. It was great seeing a lot of the same familiar faces. Some did not make it there for one reason or another. The total numbers of the crowd in general is not as big as it used to be, maybe because of the economy. But it was a good trip down there, a good stay while down there, and good journey home and we met with Hurricane Sandy's intructory winds the afternoon that we crossed the border into Canada, poured rain and blew hard once I got home and was trying to unload...but hey, at least I did not have to drive through it.
Clara is now in Texas, trying to get settled, building fences, shelters, unpack, rest, and hubby has to make a trip back home for last hauling session. The stress of the trip and all other events combined have taken its toll on her I think, but no doubt she will re coup soon

Eileen, I'm so glad you had a good ride in TN. And thanks for the update on CB.

Ellen, same ol problems...it won't let me log in every time it rolls around to the change in the months...I don't know why, and it won't let me log in for 3-5 days.....

We went to watch the parade practice for the saddle club today as we hauled two horses to it for Jessi and Joey, we will join the club tomorrow night, but we don't have time to get all the gear they are using to match for the veterans day parade on Saturday

I got my silly lips sunburned and I had sores all over ....altho great for dieting, the sun and breeze just makes it hurt...Hubby has been pampering me, not making me go out in the sun last few days....I know Ironic, aint' it?

We put the bareback pad on Maximus today, he could have cared less, he is soooo laid back in his attitude I don't think he would flinch if a bomb went off next to him! He will be a great kids horse...in another year or so.

Still waiting on the puppies to arrive..lil red is taking her own sweet time!

Hubby will have to go back for the motorhome, and the four horse trailer, but with snow in the mountains already....its iffy if it gets done before Spring melt. We'll see

We are both tired, been going to bed by 9 or 10 at night and sleeping until 8 am....altho I wake up several times to check on Red...when I hear a lot of noise in her whelping box ....right next to me..as I'm sleeping on the couch to keep a good eye on her.

Carol, I agree...so slide over you and Ellen, the top is getting full on that soap box! LOL

Well, sunburn is not something I have to worry about. The season of "Perma-Cloud" has arrived. Has anyone ever experienced this? The only television I access I have is whatever is free, no cable, no dish. On top of this I have an old TV so I have to use one of the converter boxes that came in to play a few years ago. Today the football games that were playing on two of the top three networks, ABC and CBS I think were broadcast in Spanish? The commercials were all in English. I called my brother, he has cable and both of the games were in English for him. Now that the games are over, everything is back in English. Weird. Good thing I could care less about the ball games.

Happy November everyone. Can you believe it is November already? Where did the summer go? It's COLD here after the storm. I had to break out my winter clothes.

We survived the storm with very little damage. The gutters were blown off one side of the horse barn. They were just hanging on by a thread so it wasn't a big surprise. Didn't even lose power, but people just one road over were out of power for a couple days...then just as the power came back on, some idiot wrecked and took out a power pole and plunged them back into the dark for a few hours.

I had one day off of work last week. WHEW....too much working but just in time to pay for the 1/4 of beef we bought from our local farmer. We are ready for winter now, all stocked up. Our new freezer arrives this morning.

Another storm is on it's way this week...I pray for the people in NY & NJ...They certainly don't need any more rain or wind.

Our big Post Office meeting is tonight. Can't wait to hear what happens there. The people of Potts Grove are very upset abut us going down to 4 hours a days. I doubt that it will make any difference to the people in charge, they have already decided our fate.

Well, tomorrow is the day of decision!!!! I hope everyone gets out and VOTES!!! Doesn't matter who you vote for as long as we all get out and do it. It always seems to me like my vote is such a tiny fish in a very big ocean, but that is the only way to make a difference. I will throw my tiny little fish in the ocean!!!!!!

Good to hear everyone here is doing pretty good. CB .. I am glad you aren't shoveling snow!!!! sunburn is nasty, but not like snow!!!! LOL Great to hear from you.

I was so happy with our sunshine today. It was chilly, but at least the sun was out. A week of clouds gets to me after awhile. I hope you get some sunshine tomorrow. How is Tiberius?

I had a busy day. I had to go to the ears, nose and throat doctor today about a lump in my throat. He looked at it and asked how I was stressed just before I noticed it three weeks ago.....new house, divorce?....Noooo. I got thrown off of Ivan three weeks ago. He said it was a stress related lump and would go away. After reading my recent medical history, he said I had lots of reasons to be stressed. I guess so. Anyway, it will be fine, thank goodness.

I arranged to get out of jury duty because of my continuing medical appointments for the next few months. I would really have liked to have done the jury duty, but they said they had a busy schedule and getting off on short notice would be difficult. So no jury duty for me this session. Hopefully it will come up again and I will not be going to doctors so often.

Plans are in the works to take Ivan to Pandapas Pond park again on Sunday afternoon. So far the weatherman says it will be 67 degrees and sunny! I vote for that!

I always vote for 67 and sunny.

Speaking of voting, it is important that EVERYONE VOTE. I find it amazing that for a country with so many opportunities that others in the world are DYING to have, only about 50% of our citizens actually vote. At 7:45 I was number 216 to cast my vote at my polling place, which happens to be the volunteer fire department. Can't say enough good about those guys either.

What to say about Tiberius, he's two. I've had a saddle on him, he could care less. He thought he would shake his hind leg at me the other day when he didn't want me doing something and he figured out THAT wasn't an acceptable form of showing his displeasure. It's back to Yes Ma'am.

IndyApp, I know that feeling! Missy Muleytude shows some attitude too! and she gets a good pop and a loud NO! She is doing so much better! We can walk right up to her now and lead her, backs, whoas...she is getting use to people! FINaLLY.

Jessi put a bareback pad on Max the other day, and he just said, HO HUM...more crap....but never flinched when she tightened the cinch up...he has such a good relaxed trusting mind on him....and still growing, he is 15.2 now....and he won't be two til next May. Lil bugger!

The puppies arrived last night, quite disappointing...Mom got overzealous in cleaning the umbilical cord and bit a leg off of two of the puppies...I didn't notice until I was reviving the first one who decided to stop breathing...mouth to mouth there....so the others I took out before she could chew on them in her excitement...so I am now the proud owner of two 3 legged dachshunds..unless I can find good homes for them. I know an animal can survive on 3 legs, and I wonder if I am doing the right thing....what do y'all think on it? honestly now? It's a tough call...
anyway, one lil red pup was still born...so I have 3 healthy pups...one blue and tan, one black and tan and one I'm thinking may be English cream. The two with the 3 legs is a black and tan and a blue and tan.
It was a very long night. Then Mom Red's milk wouldn't come in and Harry ran to WalMart and got some esbillac to start them out on....this morning her milk is flowing nicely and rich....and all pups are reunited. A very long night...sigh...some things we have no control over...and wish we did.

I'm loving the warm weather...love it....gets a tad warm in the afternoons, but if we had AC it wouldn't be bad! We will get ours fixed very soon! or get one to put in the window.

Well, off to the races...went to the saddle club meeting last night, its so funny to hear them talk of a garage sale in December for fundraiser...two parades coming up...9 playdays thruout the year next year and I don't know how many trail rides...but it sounds pretty active...which is good. Playday this Saturday we are going to...after the VEterans Day Parade they are riding in as a club.

Got to help hubby shoe a horsie...The Big Tank!

CB .. we had a dog that wound up 3 legged (front leg)and she did manage OK, but it wasn't great FOR HER. IMO I think that a Dachshund would have a much harder time because of the weight to leg ratio. I think the kinder thing for them would be to put them down ... but that is because I watched our little Mollie struggle with it and she knew she was handicapped. Sorry this happened!!! Nature is sure cruel some times isn't it.

It is still cold up here in Ontario, very overcast but does not feel like rain and is supposed to warm up a tad and no rain till...hmmmm forget when it was supposed to show up but hey if it ain't snow then I am happy.
Ark, I sometimes get called TWH because that is my name on another forum that I belong to. It is confusing but I know when they are talkin to me. I have not seen the other TWH posts lately but I have been in and out and don't get so see all of the posts. Hope that clears up some of the confusion,

Having a few small problems in that my wife side kick is going to hospital for cancer check and you all know what that is. Doc (a real pretty young ---looks like a movie star)is really optimistic). We have been so lucky with our Medics and staffs at the hospitals. One of the nice things we old people get ---most of the time.

Anybody know who is pres winner yet?????

OL Man, good luck to your wifes' sidekick on the cancer check! That can be scary stuff....and I'll be HUMMIN! Take care and keep us updated!

so its hard to sleep! I keep checking making sure Mom isn't on one of them. I just hope whichever man gets it, tis a better 4 years for jobs and folks losing homes, and health....we can hope.

I on the other hand had a great day at my new doc on base....he is really nice, but very strict, knows Jessi well from when she worked in hospital admin...so he is gonna sick her on me too...about my diet etc...my a1c is high again...and I HAVE to get it down...I've lost about 12 pounds which only leaves me, (by my calculations) another 70 to go.... so wish me well....here I go...Hubby has lost almost 20 pounds...he is working hard and sweating mucho grande!
I had to have blood drawn today and that is not my fave thing to do in this world...but an airman (3 striper) got me the very FIRST time...man it was wonderful...I told him I was going to do everything in my power to keep him here at this base for the next 20 years or so...LOL I was very impressed with him and so was my hubby who shook his hand and told him no one has gotten me on the first try in over 30 years!

Then we came home and I found both my 3 legged puppies had passed away. They were nursing this morning when I left...I really thought they were doing alright. Nature took its course tho...I cried as I buried the lil tykes, so sad, they didn't have a very good life, so short too. Poor babies. I"ve learned if I breed this Mother dog again, I will be right there taking them as soon as they slide out, and I WILL cut the cord and clean them up before she will get them back...like I did with the last 3 pups. Won't even give her the chance to do it again...altho I don't think she meant to do them harm. She seems to be a good mom now with the remaining 3 puppies. We'll see...they are quite tiny lil babies...

Hubby and Jessi and I got the pony trimmed, she certainly did better than the first time we did her...but still needs more work on standing still, but managed to get her done so she can go to the playday on Saturday...and the girls can ride her.

Hubby put shoes on Tank, and Cinnamon and next week he will put shoes on Rocket Man....and Jessi will start working him to check him out

Hubby and I found a dive mexican restaurant and had lunch on the way home, tiny out of the way lil place, but the dang food was outstaning! and so much we had to bring a doggie box home....and both of us ate for 10 bucks! Meal included the drink and dessert, the best chocolate cake I've had in a very long time, just a small piece for me tho...hubby ate the rest! But it WAS GOOD...everything tasted very good. Jessi said she and Joey will have to try it sometime too...

Well, its feeding time at my lil zoo...so later y'all...
It's warm here and sunny again...just not use to this nice weather, I keep wondering when its going to get cold? DUH!
