Happy March everyone....we made it thru Feb and it's a downhill slide from now on, right into mud season and wonderful springtime. Spring is on it's way.

We have been busy painting the bathroom...almost finished and ready to put the curtains back on the window. WOW what a difference. No more bright yellow sunshine walls, the kids will be surprised, they won't have to wear their sunglasses in the bathroom any longer.. Next project..clean out the tack room, that has now become the just throw it in there and worry about it later room.

The Post Office has FINALLY figured out that I am no longer employed there. It only took them 3 months to realize it. And they wonder why they are going down the tubes. The girl who wanted my job has found another job while they were dragging their feet.

Have a great weekend.
Love & prayers for all...

ARK, my first thought when I logged in and saw the new picture was that you had posted a picture of Daisy as a foal.

What constitutes March coming in as a lion or a lamb? It's not snowing or raining this morning, but it is below freezing and the perma-cloud (permanently cloudy)is present. So is it a lion or a lamb for Northern Indiana?

OLD MAN, sorry to hear you took a tumble. I've got one horse that thinks if she can get nose through an opening than her entire body must. Only problem is that she's a REALLY BIG horse and if the rest of her body wouldn't fit at the beginning it will by the time she's done making it.

Yep, that is Baby Daisy in the logo photo and Donnie and a much larger Daisy on the first post. Daisy's first owners sent us her baby pix not long ago. I first saw Daisy when she was about a month old, she belonged to the same couple we bought Kazi from. I had no idea we would end up with that cute baby. I really shouldn't go looking at baby animals, I also saw Ivan and Cactus Jack as babies. All cuties. Never show me a baby animal, I might end up with it.

GRAYMARE:
Whew! I love those flying feathers!

INDYAPP:
The wind has been blowing here all week, so March has come in like a lion. I nearly froze yesterday during our lesson. The lion was a bit calmer this afternoon, but still breezy. It's been raining this evening. The mud just keeps on coming.

CB:
Is there some way to tie your trailer down to the ground so it won't rock in the wind? How is Maximus doing? When is your pony due?

TRUDY:
Come paint our bathroom! Our old one needs some fixing up. I am thinking green....

CAROL:
When do you plan to return home? I don't think I would go this month. I keep having southern thoughts.

OL'MAN:
While I don't think your horses would run over you in the middle of a field, gates are a different matter, especially at dinner time. We had to teach our horses to lower their heads before we will open a gate for them. They were pushing thru the gates and nearly squishing us, too. Now they have to lower their heads and it causes them to think before pushing on thru the gate. Daisy is still a bit of a problem, but getting better. The others aren't a problem anymore. I sure hope you didn't get hurt.

ARK, we are going to block it up so it won't rock....am hoping the wind will kind of go away as it gets warmer....I can hope!
Butterscotch pony mare is getting bigger and bigger in the belly! She was spose to be due end of April, but I am not sure if she will go that long.

OL MAN...maybe the use of a buggy whip, and pup it a time or two will get them to respect your space...tell them to back if you use it....worked for me! Hope you arnt too sore....even being squished in the mud getting stepped on would hurt!

I heated some water on the stove tonight to make hot tea, and I had my baggy long pj shirt on and I'll be dang if I didn't set myself on fire...man those flames just flashed up the front of my shirt...I tore it over my head and threw it in the sink. I singed my right arm and some hair on my head...I smell like burned hair! My tummy is red in a few areas but not bad....I know WOW huh? Dummy me, Wow!

I also could not get on line for two days and this morning wow same info it let me in any hoo I took my two granddaughters to the central florida fair on the 28th opening night they offerd a special that if you brought in a canned good you got in for a dollar, plus I wanted to realy put my scooter to the test, the ground was grass and full of holes and dips the scooter did great we were there for at least 4 hours and I never even ran the battery down at all it still had a full charge when I loaded it up to come home, and the carnival and ride area was huge, since it was opening night there was not much going on in the areas that had arts and crafts, even the commercial area was dead, the 4-h area was not open as it was night time fairs here are nothing like the ones in Idaho I miss a true county fair I was looking foward to seeing the horses, the rabbits, cavies, cows, pigs, the fair is on until the 10th so I might have to go again so I can get my horsie fix, and farm animal fix, did I tell you that I am a animal freak, I love all animals even the slithery ones, well better get to my coffee it is calling me and smells sooooo good have a great day all and hope everyones weather gets better

Happy March, everyone!
Looooovely pics, ARK, babies are just so cute and irresistible.

Thanks to all for kind thoughts on my losing Jeckyll last month... I'm keeping busy, it's the best way right now.

And busy IS the word. I organised my first TREC Obstacle Competition entirely on my own last weekend.
I've run a few in the past with my friends and fellow committee members, but we are now each taking a turn, so that we ourselves can ride at the others, because this is part of a 4 Leg league.
But of course, I dragged most of them in to help on the day, either before or after they rode, and that is OK for all of us.

For the first time, we used a Gallops to lay out all the 16 Obstacles - and that was absolutely the most fun for everyone and was voted a HUGE success. Lots of riders arrived at the finish with ear to ear grins and wishing they could do it again. In TREC, you can walk, trot or canter (or gallop, not really recommended!) round the course and even the most nervous rider, who walked ALL the way from Obstacle to Obstacle loved it.

I arranged the Obstacles in clusters, for example to start with they had the In-Hand S-bend following immediately by the Mounting (in a 2.5m circle- no shifting allowed, and to be completed in 25 secs), followed by the Slalom. Then there was a 100m gap to the next cluster of obstacles, so the competitive ones could really canter through the slalom and keep on going to the next Obstacle.

So I'm delighted it all worked well.... and envious, I would love to have done it myself!
But the reward for doing the work, is when you see people really having a great time. And getting lots of confidence with their horse.

But the next one is next weekend and I am riding at it. So woohoo, here we go, my turn.

SUNNY - it sounds like your 'mobile' is giving you a lot of fun already. Is it named yet?

CB - it makes me also feel a wee bit seasick even reading about your home rocking in the wind, please get it propped! pale

Have a good weekend, ALL.

the weather is great here! can't complain about it at all!
But the wind is to blow today...arghhhhh!
Carol, you have a safe trip home. If you are still in town when we go thru maybe we can meet up....I don't even know which way we are going yet tho...probably the shortest way with just the car, less gas!

I sold my last doxie puppy I had left....he is going to an older couple (unlike myself..hehhheee)....he'll be spoiled. I'm happy for him altho I have been getting attached, he has such a sweet nature to him.
Lil Dane pup is growing fast...she is a toughie too! She beats up on the doxie pup and he is going on 4 months old!

Everyone have a good Sunday!

Sunny, glad you like your scooter...did ya name it yet? LOL

not yet I want to be sure of the name I choose as it will be on the scooter in the back where everybody can see all I know is that I can't wait until I am off and running to places not seen before and explore parts unknown today is colder than yesterday it is 11:00 and it is only 48 and very windy, yesterday our neighbor celebrated his 80th birthday we were invited and went, lots of food and company but as soon as the sun went down everybody went home as it was very cold without the sun and the wind never quit this cold front is the coldest of the year so far leftover from the blizzard that went through the mid west,

well I hope that all are well and happy, have a great Sunday and a great week

We are back in Ohio tonight. I'll be in Indiana tomorrow. It was a lovely vacation and coming back to the cold weather was, at the least, disappointing. Maybe next year.....
While it was a completely uneventful trip home, we are all tired and ready to crash for the night.

I'll try to catch up with everybody tomorrow.

ack, now I am losing posts! OK I'll try it again!

Welcome back home Ellen, glad you had a busy and fun trip and glad your friend was alright too! That was a scare that I know all too well.

We went to meet the trainer guy for Rocky today. He'll put 30
days on him, lots of trails, water crossings, up and down type things! They had brought some horses in from their river pasture and the ticks had attacked them so we spent the afternoon helping them detick the horses...I worked on two Palominos, one was 9 and I FELL in love with her, and the other was her Mom who was 22. Met some nice horsey folks. They have playdays once a month in the summer time and cow sorting too....so we will be going down to their arena and playing. It's about 30 miles from us. I like getting out and about and meeting new folks. Its fun.

Tonight, am bushed....it was in the 80's today...kind of sapped me....but I'll get use to it! The more I do outside the more my old decrepid body will get use to it.

SUNNY:
I am glad you are getting used to your new Golden Chariot! Very Happy I bet you have a ton of fun with it.

CB:
Wow, 80 degrees. My house isn't that warm. We woke up to 21 degrees with wind and it got all the way up to 43 degrees this afternoon. That felt like a heatwave.....Not. Tomorrow night and Wednesday they are predicting between 4 and 14 inches of snow for us. No We got in a new load of wood today, loaded the barn with hay yesterday, and got groceries and feed for the next few days all set up. The generator and snowblower are at the ready. I am soooo tired of winter!
I am really glad you have moved to Texas and seem to like it. You really do have lots more fun lately. That is great!

ELLEN:
I bet you are home. Are you tan? Rested? Ready to face the return of winter? Cool It is wonderful you got to get away from the rotten weather for awhile.

GRAYMARE:
I called my cardiologist about the heart monitor test I had three weeks ago. He never bothered to tell me the results. His nurse first said he found my heart rate went up to 120 beats per minute once and for me to continue my warfarin and other meds. I asked the nurse if he realized that was probably when I was pushing a full wheelbarrow thru the deep mud. She called back a little while later and said the doctor said he didn't find anything like A-fib and for me to drop the warfarin. She said just quit taking it, not to reduce it slowly. I really don't trust this doctor, he has prescribed things to me that TTP people aren't recommended to have, so I am not going cold turkey with the warfarin until I talk with my regular doctor, or better yet, a different cardiologist. What do you think? I'd like to be off the stuff, but would prefer not to croak doing it.

Speaking of heart attacks, Cactus Jack gave both me and Donnie one yesterday. Donnie was bringing a truck load of hay down to the barn. The ponies and Cactus were in the upper field, but down from the gate Donnie was bringing the truck thru. Donnie opened the gate and Cactus ran up the hill, flew around the truck and galloped straight out the gate, across our yard and out into the road. The ponies went on down to the barn. Cactus ran down the road with Donnie following him while I ran up the hill from the barn after them both, yelling for Cactus the entire time. Cactus dashed across the road and had a high speed tour of all our neighbors' yards, came back out into the road where I was, passed me by and headed on up the road in the other direction. I stopped in the middle of the road, yelled "NO", pointed to the driveway, and miraculously, he turned back and ran down the driveway to the yard gate to the barn lot. He waited for me to get there and open it for him. He has never done this before, hasn't been out of our pasture or barnlot in over ten years, and never took off away from Trinket and Zippy alone like this. Luckily, only one car passed while we were out in the road, usually there are quite a few that time of day. Right after we got him in, several cars came from both directions. You can be sure we won't trust him to stay in the pasture again while a gate is open. The little smart ass could have gotten himself killed. Rolling Eyes He seemed to enjoy himself greatly.

So if my heart didn't go into A-fib with all that going on, maybe I don't have it anymore.

Ark, I hope they can get your meds straightened out so you feel comfortable about it.

I'm only slightly more tan than when I left, but it was sooo nice to be wearing shorts and short-sleeved shirts for a little while. It was rather disappointing to come back to 34 degrees and the lake still frozen over. Winter finally came more aggressively, but later this year. From what the weather report is saying we should get a snow storm tonight, but then slightly nicer temperatures later in the week.

I don't know why horses/donkeys seem to completely lose their minds once they get outside their fences, but they often do. Many long years ago, my mare got loose and ran all over the neighborhood before we finally got her cornered and caught. That probably only happened because she got tired. Laughing

ARK,I'll bet you are ready to shoot that groundhog by now huh? I'm glad Cactus Jack is alright! He must have been feeling the winter blues and wanted to shake them off with a good frisky run! sometimes they just gotta act a bit nutsy...get it out of their systems and then they settle back down. Glad you didn't have any Afib probs tho. I would be cautious about the meds too. Altho I have seen patients be on cumadin while in the hospital and when they get released they go directly off of it....it stays in the system for awhile. But its good to be concerned and ask!

yeah, we have been riding more down here, and enjoying things lots more. But then we have our slug days also...where we do the chores and kick back...today hubby is redoing the shoes on Tank if the wind doesn't kick up. Tomorrow he has a stress test.....

Dawn a new name for you to think about..."DUSTY" cuz that's what it will be ifn you go as often as you would like to! Get out and enjoy and get more dust on Ol Yeller! Have fun.

Ellen, got pics of your vacation huh huh?

ARK, I would always clear any med changes through your TTP doc. It takes extra time etc. but you can't take any chances. Ask him/her who he/she has for a cardio croney that could manage your case. Make a change so you feel safe and comfortable with your cardiologist.
It's very important.

Everybody have a great day. It's glorious here in AZ.

Ellen, you got back just in the nick of time to enjoy the storm...do ya feel lucky! Rolling Eyes Razz

Tonight is our last cooler night for the next 8 nights....down to 28 then the rest of the nights, will be in the 40's to 50's at night, and in the hi 60's for day temps....I can learn to like it...yes I can! tongue Wink

But everyone in the storms path, stay safe and warm. Let's hope that this will be the end of winter for y'all...and someone please put that dang groundhog out of his lying misery!

Sweet Dreams y'all.

We got about 6 inches of snow last night. My deck has a two foot drift on it. I have to work today and am not looking forward to having to drive an hour (if all goes well) in this stuff. I'm hoping the main roads will be plowed and salted.

WE got SNOW!!! Wasn't so sure I was going to get out of the driveway this morning, but my little lean mean hamster under the hood did good. We got a good 6 inches if not 8 last night. Feeding this morning was fun. On the flip side, it's suppose to be mid 40s by Saturday. That groundhog just might end up being right.
