Wow, hope the Floridians are evacuating as warned.......Hurricane Matthew sounds horrendous.......CB, did SUNNY have to evacuate?
They just showed a family on our news that went to Virginia and then flew here to AZ........

GM, I tried to talk her into it, but she thinks they r far enuf inland they won't get much storm. I hope she is right.
We r leaving sat or sun early for the trip to tx. Want to try and make it in one day, but then it would.be dark to settle horses, so we will drive few hours sat and take a nap and then finish sun. The horses will be fine in the trailer and safer than unloading in the dark. Ours is a stock trailer that we have hauled with since 1985, slats.halfway down so lots of ventilation.

I drove the new truck today, I have about 36 miles on it now, more than Donnie has so far!     You can believe I was VERY careful.  I do not want to be the one to put the first scratch on it!   It is a very smooth ride, I like it a lot.  I would never have ordered some of the bells and whistles on it, but I have to admit, some of them are kind of fun.  It has a camera in the back and when the driver backs up, it displays the rear view on a screen and puts in imaginary lines to help you keep from bashing anything.  It also has a very quick turning radius and is so much easier to park than BART, our regular sized Big A$$ Red Truck.  I have never liked driving BART, but this little blue job is a lot of fun.



Last night when Donnie brought it home.

My back is a little sore from the callisthenics  I did coming off of Areion yesterday, but otherwise I am fine.  I was wearing my riding safety vest to keep from cracking some ribs if I fell off of Areion.  Since I landed on my feet, I guess the vest worked!

Thanks for the big birthday wish but chocolate is on my fasting list. My sweet neighbor made me a birthday cake and it's a carrot cake YUMMMMMMM. I was hoping it wasn't chocolate so I could eat it. Last year she made me a big tray of brownies and I couldn't eat them until November but they were still yummmy even if a little late. At my age I can celebrate getting another year older anytime.

Say a prayer for my hardheaded friends Shirley and George Pliska, they just bought a house in Titusville FL and refuse to evacuate, they have lived in FL for 30 years so they are use to the canes ripping thru the state.
I'm very worried about them.

Off to dinner tonight with George and my two birthday friends Barb & Jill, we go out for each others birthdays every year. Makes birthdays fun to share them with someone.

George got me a beautiful sterling silver bracelet with my life verse on it for my birthday. I love it. Proverbs 3:5.

Ark, I LOVE the color of your new truck. There are so many bells and whistles on most new cars and trucks now. I love gadgets, so I would have a ball with that. That back-up camera is good.
I see it does have 4WD for winter snow. That will be a good thing for the roads you live on.
Does it have that nice new car smell?

Graymare, I know you are enjoying every minute of your time in the mountains.

This is probably our last 'summer' day. It will be about 80 today, and only 60 tomorrow. The leaves are starting to turn, but are still mostly green. The cottonwoods are dropping their leaves; those are always the first to go. I see the squirrels carrying walnuts and hickory nuts around. I see the cats are starting to add a little bit of hair, but not much weight yet.
Sure can't complain. I haven't had to start the furnace yet this year - probably tomorrow. My furnace guy is coming today to check everything out.

Yes, the truck has that nice new smell. I wonder how they do that? It is a 4WD, which around here is fairly important. It gets very good gas mileage, too! It's a diesel and the engine should last longer than a regular gas engine. It actually gets better mileage than the Saturn hybrid we traded in on it. It is smaller than our red truck, but can pull more weight. The only downside is that it is not set up for a gooseneck, so can only pull our old Brenderup trailer. The red truck has that job.

It has been rainy and cool here all day. I am not sure if we are getting some rain off that hurricane' s outer bands or if it is from a different system. Either way, it is wet. We have postponed going to get Annie until Sunday when it is supposed to be clear. It will just be a day trip instead of a weekend trip. We haven't had any frosts yet, so our trees are still green.

Today will be another pretty fall day. Not much color on the trees yet.
The launch ramp across the lake will be busy for the next couple of weeks as people pull their boats and pontoons for the winter.

Little Miss Scarlett turned 5 years old on Thursday, and the party is today. So, I'll go celebrate with them. I've been babysitting with her since she was 3 months old. Time certainly flies. Little Sister Lilah will be 3 in December.

Well we r enroute minus my mare. She went to the trainer who I thought he could make her a.better horse for someone. She knocked harry over loading and drug him.....Havnt a clue. Bo, trainer, thinks she may be having a last raving heat cycle....could be. Hubby has some broken fingers, hurt his.back.....wasn't meant to be the horse for me. Bo will put more training on her and probably make a good profit. I need to look for a well broke horse, calm, and very well behaved. Sighh......

Did you get there yet, CB? How is Harry?

Yes, sorry, was.very tired. Hubby had to have his wedding band cut off his fingers got so swollen....he's sore,.but doing thi gs slowly....we r both in slow.motion.....veeeeeery slow. Harper loves nay nay, she rode her last evening, gave her hugs.and a.kiss on the nose. Nay nay was very patient, loves attention.

CB, good to read you're there safely and all is well. Now re group, rest a bit, and just go along as you & Harry can............send a pic of Harper & Nay Nay.............that has to be really cute.

It's on craigslist, I never figured out how to get them here

CB, glad you got there safe and sound and that Harper loves her pony. You will have a ball watching her grow up with her pony.
Do you have to go back to Missouri to get more of your things or is that all done?

We had 4 really nice days, and now it's raining and going to get quite a bit colder. I managed to get the yard mowed and be back in the house about 10 minutes before the clouds let go. We should only have to mow a couple more times. The grass didn't really need to be cut, but it was nice to get some of the cottonwood leaves crunched up.

Well, figures....I told hubby he needed more support under our truck camper.....but.noo [ooo......winds came up over went camper, totally demolished it.....we will be scrapping our home we were to travel with......big big huge sigh

Ohhhh nooooo, CB. Were you in it when it blew over?  Will your insurance help at all?

No and no. Our insurance only covers it when it's on the dang truck and we may have hit someone with it. We didn't have ins. Just on it....it's an older model too.

I'm so sorry that happened. Maybe once you get everything settled and the house sold, you can find another one.

Thank you, Ellen. We finally found someone who will come haul it off. Hubby just did a lot of work on it, too....accck. it's shocking to lose your home on wheels. I can't fathom all the people that lost their homes in the floods of Hurricane matthew....the heartache they must feel.
It's been hot here in tx, no flannel shirt needed!

CB, you still have your newer 30' camper, right? Did you take that to Texas too?

Not yet, almost afraid to....we r going up the first and get it, before weather turns bad. Hah! It will probably snow early.....just my luck.

What a beauty!

Well, I have been busy, busy all week. Sunday we picked up Annie in Charleston, WV. I have been running around with her all week. We went on a one day bus tour to NC on Wednesday, then celebrated her birthday all day on Thursday. In between, the barn had to be cleaned regardless of what else I wanted to do. Monday I had a lesson on Ivan using a Dr. Cook's bitless bridle that we bought years ago and never used. It was supposed to be Daisy's, but she didn't like it. Ivan seemed to do just fine with it! So it has a new job as my back up bridle. I did fix Ivan's hackamore this evening after spending a week trying to figure it out. It turned out to be a simple thing to fix.

Sunday we are going to the New River Trail with Ivan and Lori's horse, Tonto. Should be fun!

Wow! What a mane and tail! I see a lot of Show Sheen or conditioner being used on that horse to avoid tangles.
