ELLEN - That sweater is a spectacular piece of work!  I keep trying to wrap my mind around how you executed that pattern, but I can't. And you made it fast, too. I'd find it hard to wear it in public without going up to strangers, grabbing them by the sleeve and saying, "Look, look! I MADE this!!!"  I'll bet you don't do that! But I wouldn't fault you if you did.

A man and his ever-nagging wife went on holiday to Jerusalem.
While they were there, the wife passed away.
The undertaker told the husband, "You can have her shipped home for £5,000, or you can bury her here, in the Holy Land, for £150.

The man thought about it and told him he would just have her shipped home.
The undertaker asked, "Why would you spend £5,000 to ship your wife home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and you would spend only £150?"
The man replied, "Long ago a man died here, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can't take that chance."

ELLEN: WOW and I mean WOW, I am soooooo impressed with that beautiful sweater, I can harldy sew on a button.

Lots of stupid snow here already this morning. YUCK...2 snowmobiles flew by the house at 5 AM & again just now. Those guys are out early. We did all our running around yesterday, so we can sit on the patio and watch it snow. We have been having a nice snowless winter, but it looks like the rest of the month is going to be snow filled. George canceled his Purple Heart monthly meeting for Monday night. I think that is the first one we have had to cancel in years. No sense in making old people drive on bad roads.

I got my new glasses yesterday and can actually see now. YIPPEEEE Didn't think my eyes had gotten that bad in 3 years but I was WRONG..It's a new world.

Another Ace story and I should have taken a photo, but I was laughing too hard. I dumped the cat food into a big container and left the big empty bag on the back porch with a few pieces in it for Ace to eat. When I came back from feeding the barn cats there was Ace, standing on the patio with the bag stuck on his head. He was trying to walk while wearing the bag and was bumping into things. This dog keeps me in stitches, I never know what he is going to do next. LOL

Stay safe everyone who is in the path of the snow storm.
Love & prayers for all....

Thanks for the compliments. I really enjoyed making that jacket, which did knit up faster than I expected.

Graymare, lol! ROFL hysterical

Our critters do some funny things to entertain us. I can imagine seeing Ace with a bag on his head wondering where the light went.
A friend had some kittens who thought bags were the best toys ever.

I'm glad Ivan wasn't hurt was he made the dive through the gate. Ark, are you trail riding today?

CB, you're sure right about the Dachhunds going after the moles. They'll get 'em. When I was a kid, we had a Dachhund who was mostly a house dog. But the hunting instinct was still in her. Once in a while, my dad would take her rabbit hunting. She was surprisingly good at it, even though her short legs would get tired and my dad would have to carry her home. Another time, she pointed quail like a pro.

Yep, they r tenacious lil hunters...they use to be used to hunt badgers and ground hogs....they would sometimes get beaten up but were either too stupid or jus too plain onery to give it up! they can catch a mouse in a heartbeat.

ELLEN
No, I am at home today.  We had some rain/sleet/snow overnight and this morning that turned into sunny/ wind/mud this afternoon.  I had decided not to put a saddle on Ivan for a few days so as not to irritate what I thought were raw gouges down his side, but other than looking like a bear ripped into him, he actually is probably okay to be ridden.  The skin is dry and pliable, no oozing anywhere.

However, my minor cold has turned into a major one.  I am too disgusting to be seen in public tongue .  And if that isn't bad enough, I may have a worse issue going on.  My right hip joint seems to have a tendon or ligament or arthritic issue.  It went "out" last night, twice, causing extreme razor blade pain and I could barely move.  It felt a little disjointed or something. The joint has been feeling progressively worse over the past week and I twisted on my foot last night and thought I was going to collapse to the floor.  I am now creeping around carefully to keep it from twisting it again.  Donnie has been very helpful down at the barn, I didn't have to push the wheelbarrow today.

Anyone else ever have anything like this??  If it doesn't get better, it could put a real glitch in my riding plans..... No

GRAYMARE
 Funny story! ROFL

SUNNY
I will take 60 degrees!!!  Our high today is 34.  Rolling Eyes   How was your trip?

TRUDY
We only got a skiff of snow, but lots of rain and sleet.  How much did you end up with?  I am ready for some dry weather!  Ace is such a card ROFL .

My three roosters are getting hormonal.  One is positively in rut and taking it out on the other two.  Spring must be coming.  So far they are confining their actions to each other and not attacking people or cats.  Moe and Curly Joe spend the day chasing each other up and down the hill, running off any fat.  Larry is staying out of the fight, so far, and hangs out with me at the barn...where he gets snacks of oats and cat food kibble.  He is quite plump....and probably a bit brighter than his brothers.

Ark, could this be sciatic? remember when I lived in idaho and I had all that pain? I had a fluid filled cyst between discs....I'm hoping urs is a quicker fix, but from the day I had it removed, it gave me my movement and. riding bac. get to a doc for some exrays, mri...and find out.

The big garage sale was a real flop...and so crowded....prices were not good...lunch at golden corral was delish.

Weather was jacket weather today no coat....I like.

ELLEN...I guess you have to count rows to get the size you need, but I, too, can't figure out how you get the pattern....??

It is 45F in the barn...no wind...bright sunshine and really quite pleasant today. I don't see firing the stove until evening.

Have a good day and stay warm / dry.

Love to all,
Rick

The design is laid out on a grid.  Each square of the grid shows what color should be in that square.  I carried the two colors of yarn across the work, using the one I need as it comes along in the grid.  Sort of a paint-by-number one row at a time.  Ski sweaters are done the same way, only with more colors.  I rather enjoy working designs like that; it's more entertaining than just plain knitting.
Here is the pattern found at the website. You'll see several different grids, each used at the appropriate place. http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/pattern.php?id=4253&lang=en#pattern_content
This company has almost all their designs free online. I did go ahead and order the book so I could have it handy all the time.

CB
I am glad Harry is going to be alright. He has had a tough year. I hope your doxies come home quickly. You must be very tired. Take care of yourself, too! hug

I looked up sciatic nerve problems, and while it is possible, I don't think I have quite the correct symptoms for that. My hip pain is out to the side of the hip joint, not where the sciatic nerve is. I think after having hit the hard ground twice a few months ago right at the same spot, then trotting so much recently, then riding the wider Areion, I have damaged something. I think I will hold off riding a bit and see if it feels better. It is better today than a couple of days ago. If all else fails, I will go to the doctor.... tongue .

So who is getting snow? We probably won't get much, we are on the edge. I heard Maine could get upwards of 2 feet affraid . Take care, BEECH!!

It snowed almost all day today, but very little accumulation. The COLD is coming back later in the week.

Ark, glad to hear you are better now. Hope it keeps improving.

CB, are the doxies home yet?

Snow snow snow here in PA. 6 to 12 inches in the next couple of days. UUUGGHHHHH.

CB: Hums for you, Harry and the Doxies. What a year you are having and it's only January. Hang in kiddo. Praying the pups make it home safely.

ARK; Take it easy with that hip pain.

Stay safe everyone in the path of the storm. It's gonna be a doozie on the east coast.
