We just have to get thereee! hubbys oxygen levels was down. they r doing sonogram right now...docwon't let him travel til thurs if then....ack....I slept really good last night in the bed chair. I'm going home in a bit to shower and come back..to jessis home, thank goodness she is here with us and for us.

"THE LOOK" I get / give...

Wow! What a sneaky bunch of cousins I have! This has really been an interesting day! Yesterday I had an appointment to get my hair cut - I thought. Well, I did have an appointment, but I didn't make it. My sneaky cousin had already done it and got my hair dresser to go along with it. So, I did get my hair done and then met up with another cousin to get a new phone added to his plan. Then dinner at a nice family bar. Today we got up, did the whole clean up routine in preparation to go to a restaurant for my birthday dinner - or so I thought. We started driving and it soon became very apparent we were going someplace else. After a few miles I sort of guessed where we were headed.
We arrived at the hotel/state park and I began to see a couple more familiar cars. I was finally told that we were staying the night. We found the room, and when the door opened a whole bunch more cousins were yelling "surprise". As the afternoon moved along, more of them arrived. By dinner time there was a total of 40 of us.
I couldn't have been more pleased to have them all there.
A good dinner, some nice gifts, some good laughs (and a couple of emotional tears), we adjourned to the hotel pool to watch the kids swim.
If I get some of the pictures, I will share later.
I truly have a great gang of cousins who have gone way above and beyond to help me celebrate being 70.

Will chocolate cake do instead? They had made a big full sheet cake - half white half chocolate, and another peanut butter cake with carmel icing.
This evening we went to one of my favorite restaurants for my favorite fried chicken. There were 20 of us.
I have decided that week long birthdays are a good thing.

Your cousins are sneaky . I just looked at the old Foopville calendar and it said your birthday is November 19! You really can (and should) celebrate all week !

I had a friend who decided to celebrate her birthday month . We should all do that, especially for birthdays ending in zeros.

I am so glad Harry is doing better. What a scare. Do they have a VA near your new place?


Raining and cold here, but no snow... So far Areion has not figured out how to demolish the new set-up for the heated water tub, although she tried. We have an old wooden goat feeder that no longer has a goat to feed that we cut the legs off of and put the water tub inside it. It makes a little wooden fence around the tub, so Areion can't drag the tub off or splash the water out of it. She is fairly creative and may figure out a way. And we used to think Ivan was destructive.

We just finished the last season of Northern Exposure. Such a good series. We have been watching an episode or two nearly every evening for a couple of months since we still don't have a satellite connection. We hope to have the replacement t.v. before Christmas. We just got the insurance check to replace the broken set on Friday. Finally. It has been 4 1/2 months since our wonderful neighbors sent their trucks into our truck and t.v.room.

ELLEN: Happy early birthday to you, in case I'm not on here on the 19th. What a wonderful surprise your family had for your birthday. How sweet was that? I love week long birthdays.

CB: Still praying for Harry & you. Take it easy with the moving stuff, us older people gotta do things a little slower than we used to.

ARK: WOW 4 1/2 months have gone by since the big crash into your house. Isn't it weird how we better make those insurance payments the moment we get the bill, but file a claim and it takes months to get the check. uuggghhhh

RICK: I make that very same face when washing dishes. LOL

We didn't get any snow last night, it stayed north of us. I'm good with that. No big plans for this week, it is going to be a week of rest and hanging around on the farm.

It's Tuesday and I am still at my cousin's house. After four inches of snow and watching the meter reader and mail truck slide by, I decided that staying put was the best option. It is still January cold, but no more snow fell, so I will probably head for home after while.

CB, I'm certainly glad to hear that you are in your new home safely. Now, maybe you can take it a little easier for a while.

CB, so glad you are HOME……….great you have some muscles to do the heavy work and Harry can slow down a bit…………make sure he rests.  Also, the dinner sounds SO good.  Keep us updated.  You rest,too…………….you have a long time to get it all done.

ARK, I was telling another friend about your neighbor hitting your truck and then returning a second time and wiping out your den………..word has it you need to write that as a Virginia farm comedy.
Nobody has that happen.  I hope you're watching TV by now and enjoying your home during snow falls.  Your house picture was lovely.


I've been picking up things for T giving for a couple of weeks and already have my free turkey.
I was in Walmart today picking up a few things and the lady in front of me had $208 worth…….
Whewey.  She was real nice and told me her T giving story as we waited for the lady in front of her.
Anybow, it's coming up fast.

 I am very glad you and Harry are in your new place.  I hope Harry is feeling better.  How is your brother doing?  

GRAYMARE
 You forgot to tell your friend about the painter's truck who hit our big maple tree at the end of our driveway a week or so after the truck hit our house, which was exactly a week after the truck hit our truck in the driveway.  It threw paint and plaster into our yard and 15 feet up the tree.  The big debate that time was whether to send out a hazmat team to clean up the paint thinner in the grass.  They didn't.  Strangely, only the paint truck made the news, getting hit twice by our neighbors didn't rate a word in the press.
(Annie said they should have sent at least one 'Sorry we hit you with our truck' card. )

We only got some light snow flurries, no snow.  We had super cold temps, though.  Our t.v. room is still waiting on the carpenter's return, so we still don't have a satellite dish.  We are watching videos on the poor, limping t.v. that the truck hit and threw across the room.  It is set up temporarily in the living room on a couple of stools.  Its stand was completely crushed.  It has lines in the screen, scratches on the surface, and is actually bent a bit in the middle.  Poor thing is less than a year old and totaled.  We keep waiting for it to just blow up and die.  Donnie has the new one picked out.  We will probably get it during the Christmas season.
 
I rode Areion yesterday!!  I wore the new safety vest, but it didn't make Areion seem any shorter .  Luckily, she was in her cute mellow mood and I had a good ride.  She moves so differently than Ivan, who I rode with his hackamore.  He was very good until Albert arrived, then started getting upset when Albert was behind him.  So I got to see how much control I had in a stressful situation with the hackamore.....about the same as with the snaffle bit.  He hates having Albert behind him.  Jane told me that when we were riding on the New River Trail together, Albert reached out and bit Ivan on the butt.  Ivan went into a canter and I didn't know about the bite, I was busy staying on.  I suspect this is why Ivan hates Albert...  

Lori rode Ivan after I got tired of all the shenanigans, she doesn't mind those like I do.  Ivan didn't get away with much with her, and went ahead of Albert to lead him across the dreaded tarp.  It was a good lesson for all the horses.

Good idea, RICK…………I also called the DR. and told them to do the same thing……they said they would check with the AMA to see if that is O K with Medicare………..they'll let me know.  I reminded them I was am only 45 so I know it would be fine.
