| CB Thinking happy, healing thoughts for Harry!! And for you..... GRAYMARE Your date nights sound like fun! I so look forward to date nights once Donnie finishes up his degree work. His evenings usually include a nap while "we" are watching some show, then he works a couple of hours on his paper. Some just plain fun will be great! (January 27, dissertation defence....then let the fun begin!!) ELLEN Your cold weather has arrived here...18° this morning. It will get above freezing today, though, it didn't yesterday. I guess winter has arrived after all. We had snowflurries yesterday, but it didn't stick. I stopped in at the DMV yesterday to renew my driver's license. I don't have to do it again until 2025 when I will be 71 years old . Wow. Life is fast. | |

| I think 41 here this morning. Sun is up now, so prob 50-55...........today will be 60.
CB, fusion of all 7 vertebrae will strengthen Harry's neck and he won't have to worry so about injury from a bad twisting in his neck, and becoming a quad. That's why I did it, for sure............and not a bit sorry. Healing takes time and attention. I don't notice any difference from when my neck was normal before spinal arthritis. I never had an injury. Ha, don't give him a bell to ring for service............he will have a collar for protection for healing. Dumb thing itches.............the best part about it is by Thursday it will be over and healing begins.
ARK, oh boy...........16. Brrrrrrr in the early mornings.
Everyone have a good day..........

| Hugs from me, too, CB And listen to GM. You will be on the upswing very soon. Oh, ARK, and I suppose you think that 71 is OLD??? Harummphhh. Reminds me of Oliver Wendell Holmes, I think it was, who, out walking at age 95 or more, spied a pretty woman and said, "Oh to be 90 again!" With winter just beginning to close in for real hereabouts, I'm tickled that I screwed up my courage to spend a little money to wall off and insulate and sheathe a section of my now-empty barn to use, year-round, as a workshop. My carpenter, the same one I used 10 years ago when I first moved in here, to give me new windows, siding and roof -- and to build that barn -- came with two of his sons (adults) last week and did the job in one day. Wow! It looks so good I hate to use it. "Looks like a doctor's office!" he said as he swept up before leaving. Right on budget, too. Yesterday the little quartz heater I ordered for it came (it's just one little room about 11 feet on a side), so, whoopieeee! I'm back in business. "Business" not really - just fun. Don't know if I've said this here already or not (ARK: you'll know you're old when your memory box gets leaky) but I bought the saw with a plan to make jig-saw puzzles. Haven't got to that yet because I got side-tracked making signs for friends, starting with one that reads "PIGS RULE." Got to get through Christmas stuff first, though. Sigh.. If only there were time, I'd be using the saw to make gifts. Making strawberry jam, among other things, instead... A couple of inches of snow everywhere on the ground here, with more expected Monday. I used my snowblower once, just long enough to break a shearbolt, which I replaced yesterday. Temp up to 23 today at 2pm. | |

| According to the weather forecasts, we are supposed to get between 6 and 10 inches of snow, starting a little later this evening. I guess I'll get to find out whether or not I like AWD. Just one more thing to get for Christmas gifts and I'll be done. One place I went had wrapping paper for $1 per roll. I bought 4. So, I should have enough to wrap everything. | |

| BEECH 71 is getting younger all the time! I just can't believe that I am nearly that age already..... Your work room sounds great! I would like a play room, myself.... I would actually like my tack room to be finished, but a hundred other projects are in front of the line. CB I was 44 when I joined the Over 50s crowd on Horsenet in 1998. That was a fun forum. The internet has changed so much since then. I kind of liked how it was. ELLEN Ewwwww.... ..... No snow here, please. We have it in our next Wednesday forecast, but I am hoping they don't really mean it. Stay warm and safe!! I bet Travis is ready for snowmobile time! Only 11 more days until the winter solstice and then the days get longer!!! More daylight will be nice! | |

| BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR winter has arrived here in PA. I saw 11 degrees on the forecast for Thursday. Now that is COLD. I'll have to make up some warm beds for the barn kitties.
All my Christmas shipping is finally finished. YEAH...and early too Shipped the last gift to Pittsburgh yesterday. Now I can sit back and relax, hopefully they will arrive safe and sound. I was ready so early this year I can hardly believe it. Early shopping has it's perks.
Our Barnabas group Christmas party is over, it went off with only a couple of small problems. I delivered a couple of the gift bags that we made to the homebound. I have to say doing the visitation is the most soul fulfilling experience I have ever had.
CB: I'll be praying for you and Harry and the doctors for the operation and recovery to be successful without too much stress.
ELLEN: Please keep the snow out your way, I'm not ready for snow yet although the weather says tonight is the night for snow.
ARK: Hard to believe we have been on the Horse forum that many years. So many people have disappeared from the forum over the years. I'll turn 69 next year so 71 doesn't seem old to me at all. George will turn 72 on the 17th. I have noticed he is slowing down a little, I'm guessing 70 is the year we start to slow down. Myself, I have noticed that certain things are just not that important to get done any longer, especially dusting. LOL
Have a blessed Sunday everyone. Bundle up and prepare for winter.

| It is a white world this morning. It started snowing right after dark last evening, continued through the night, and is still coming. We have about 3 inches so far. By Wednesday night it will be below zero. Thursday won't be any better. We are having January weather about 2 or 3 weeks earlier than usual. Believe it or not, I bought two bags of ice last evening. We are having a neighborhood party on Friday evening and it was requested that I bring homemade ice cream. I sure don't mind doing that since I can get that done anytime. When the ice cream is done churning, I spoon it out into little styrofoam cups with lids and put those in the freezer. Then, when it's time to go, I just load them into a bag and off I go. When I know my cousins will be here, I make sure there are some cups in my freezer for them. One of the cousins has declared me to be a genius. She LOVES homemade ice cream. | |

BEECH, congrats on your new shop. You will love it. Now, you will have a gazillion orders...........better start now for next year.
TRUDY, I used to do meals on wheels and loved it......the chapter I was with dissolved over political nonsense between two churches....... that was a long time ago and I haven't looked into it again.........might be a good resolution for 2017............
Everyone have a good day.

| It was a bitter sweet supper with the neighbors this evening. My two-doors-over neighbors are moving and their new house is ready. This was their last time here as 'residents'. It was a good get-together, but a little sad too. People always say they are going to stay in touch, but sometimes distance and time keep that from continuing. I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen.

| Great you could get together......it's always hard to lose a good neighbor. Stay close to your good memories, ELLEN. Glad your weather was good enough for them to drive over. Day here busy and then had irrigation. This is the last one for the year. The water was flowing and I realized I hadn't gotten the horses in..........way funny. They sloshed right on over making a flying splash slinging mud............Lucky me, I can clean them up at some point......... Not. Obviously it has to be done but not this evening.Hey, they're happy, and had a great time.......LOLOLOLOL I have a friend that is making a dish for a potluck tomorrow....... stuffed peppers............red & green. Clever. Weather changing here with lower temps and rain Friday........ Everyone have a great evening. God bless, prayers for ALL. | |

| We have ice! It's been really cold for over a week, and last night there was no wind. More than half of the lake has a coating of ice. If this continues, we won't see moving water for about 4 months. IF the wind comes up, it could break up what is here now. The next three nights are supposed to be down around zero or below. | |

| ELLEN, BRRRRRRRRR. Make hot chocolate & turn up the fireplace. Still nice here rain coming........we don't get to 0 here, but our trailer, I'm sure, is frozen up north................ The mud ball team is happily chewing away and I am peacefully shoveling doing morning exercise guaranteeing I can still walk......LOL Rescue Rex is at the helm of the drive waiting for UPS.......I will say it's not likely anyone will try to take any packages from houses around here. He loves his job. | |

| Boy oh boy, is it COLD here! And will be for the next three days and nights. Then, we are supposed to get more snow for the weekend. If this is a harbinger of things to come, it's gonna be a loooong winter.
CB, what's going on? Do let us know how the surgery goes.

| CB: Praying today for the operation to go smoothly and be a success.
We have snow. uggghhhh Not a lot, maybe a couple of inches. Ace is so happy he loves the stupid snow. There are tons of deer & rabbit tracks in our yard this morning.
Yesterday I made 184 Lady Lock cookies. WHEW that is a lot of work. Next step fill them. It has turned into a 3 day job as I get older. I had to buy a new pastry gun since George broke mine last year when he was "helping" me fill the cookies. LOL
Saturday is the Military Order of the Purple Heart Christmas Party, then we can relax and be retired, bored people for a couple of months. (I hope).
All my Christmas gifts are mailed and on their way.
Have a great day everyone.
